CHAPTER 656: Surrounded By Goddesses

Surrounding the Ninth Realm Mystical Yin Harvester were several dozen large and small demonic formations, but Han Shuo could only recognise two of them: Pentacloud Miasma and Black Gust of Doom. These two demonic formations were connected to each other and formed one of the paths to the centre of the Ninth Realm Mystical Yin Harvester.

Han Shuo's heroic spirit had won Olde great admiration and repeated praise.

Donna was hesitant at first and could not summon up the will to enter. But when she saw Han Shuo enter the entrance before anyone else, she finally made up her mind. Donna nodded to Bolten, Li Wei and the rest of her team before they caught up with Han Shuo in quick steps.

Just as Olde had said, the main reason they had travelled from all over the universe was to explore this mysterious place, to study and investigate what wonders lay there. They could hesitate as much as they wanted, but in the end, they would still have to enter.

Han Shuo closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the slightly corrosive air around him to get a sense of the poison's properties and toxicity. He processed it in silence.

Donna and her party, who arrived next to Han Shuo, looked up and down at him in confusion. They found it very strange that Han Shuo seemed to be thinking with his eyes closed.

Donna asked, "Bryan, are you all right?"

Han Shuo opened his eyes and nodded. "Let's go!"

Han Shuo had originally planned to somehow incite Emperor and Eriksson's anger so that they would follow him into this Pentacloud Miasma. But after thinking about it, he knew that even if they did not go into this Pentacloud Miasma, they would still have to go through other demonic formations to get to the centre of the Ninth Realm Mystical Yin Harvester.

Han Shuo understood that these demonic formations around the Ninth Realm Mystical Yin Harvester should have roughly the same destructive power. Since there was no way to avoid entering a demonic formation, Han Shuo thought that his original plan was unnecessary and it would be better if he just didn't do anything.

"Okay, everyone be extra careful. This place is very strange. Don't let your guard down even for a moment!" Donna reminded.

Han Shuo understood that no matter how careful one was, there was still no way to avoid being in the formation, and so he was less inclined to keep Donna's reminder in mind. He took note of his surroundings and tried to find a way out of the Pentacloud Miasma based on his understanding of the formation.

Before they had taken their tenth step into the formation, the scene around them was undergoing a massive transformation. In a fraction of a second, colourful but deadly gases began to fill the air from all directions. These deadly gases must have been produced using special methods, for they were extremely corrosive. Strange hissing sounds polluted the air as soon as these gases appeared.

""Watch out! Don't let the gas touch your skin!" Han Shuo shouted in alarm.

Had there not been enemies like Olde and Emperor around, Han Shuo might not have cared about the life or death of Bolten and those youngsters. But since they had this common enemy, he needed to preserve as many allied lives as possible. This would give his allies an advantage over their opponents should a battle break out between the two opposing forces - thus ensuring his own safety.

Han Shuo's warning sent everyone into a manic frenzy. As if facing a great enemy, they used their own unique methods to create protective shields around themselves. Li Wei, Donna and Bowen used divine weapons to protect their bodies. Meanwhile, Bolten and Colbert used their divine energies to form a layer of protective shield around themselves. They were able to prevent the corrosive gases from coming into contact with their bodies.

When the misleadingly colourful gases made contact with their shields, they began to emit smoke.

Bolten screamed as the protective layer of divine energy he had formed began to weaken.

"This is a nightmare. Even my divine weapon is corroding. We have to get out of here as soon as possible!" Li Wei complained.

These miasmic gases had been refined using special methods that allowed them to basically corrode anything, especially physical bodies. Had they not insulated their bodies with such methods, their flesh and bones would have begun to melt away until they were finally reduced to puddles of blood and gunk.

Han Shuo was also quick to react, hastily deploying his shield. A dark, oval-shaped shield as thin as a cicada's wing completely enveloped him. Han Shuo was as solid as a mountain once the shield was unfolded. This shield, powered by demonic yuan, was invulnerable to the corrosion of the colourful miasmic gases.

Han Shuo was shocked to discover this. Based on the description of the Pentacloud Miasma found in Chu Cang Lan's memory, the deadly gases here could corrode anything they touched. Things that were invulnerable to it were extremely rare, and his shield should not have been one of them.

However, for some reason, the gas could not penetrate his shield at all. Even Han Shuo was puzzled by this, as he had no idea what caused this.

After racking his brain, Han Shuo suddenly thought of a possibility - what if the person who used the Pentacloud Miasma had somehow altered the gases to make his shield immune?

"What? How is his shield holding up so well?" Li Wei exclaimed again in surprise as she pointed at Han Shuo in confusion.

The rest of the group turned to look at him, each as stunned as the next. Even though they had divine weapons or divine energies around their bodies actively protecting them, their shields were still being eaten away by those miasmic gases. Light smoke curled up and around them as if they had just stepped out of a hot bath.

The layer of dark, translucent shield that surrounded Han Shuo, however, was not subject to the corrosion of the miasmic gases, making him stand out from the group.

"Bryan, how, how is that possible?" Donna asked.

"Well, I cultivate in a type of rare energy. Frankly, I have no idea why these gases have no effect on me!" Han Shuo knew that these people would not be satisfied unless he gave them an explanation.

"Oh wow!" Li Wei giggled and immediately continued in a very natural manner, "You obviously have some extra room. Let me get under there as well. My precious artifact must not be ruined by these hateful gases!"

After finishing these words, without any concern for Han Shuo's approval or consent, she happily walked over to Han Shuo, wanting to squeeze herself into his shield.

"There's not enough room, sorry!" Han Shuo did not like Li Wei. As she quickly flew over, Han Shuo used his thoughts to shrink the large shield until it was only big enough for him to stand underneath.

"Apparently, there was enough space a moment ago!" Li Wei knew that Han Shuo had done this on purpose and said angrily as he glared at Han Shuo.

"No, there wasn't," Han Shuo replied with a straight face.

"Enough of this. We need to leave as soon as possible. There is nothing to be gained by staying here for any length of time. These corrosive gases are really a bit too frightening," Donna scolded with a furrowed brow. Then she led the group into the air.

All these people understood that Donna's words could not be truer. Bolten and Colbert, who had no body-shielding divine weapons, were using up the divine energy stored in their bodies with every passing second. They couldn't wait to get out of this horrible place, so they flew close behind Donna.

***After ten minutes.

There were drops of sweat on Donna's forehead. She was obviously getting anxious, "What's going on here? Why haven't we got out of this place? We have been travelling at such a speed; we must have covered at least a few hundred miles. Why are we still in this place?

The Pentacloud Miasma actually consisted of two components - the corrosive miasmic gases and the illusion formation. The corrosive gases were the attacking component, corroding those who entered it. Meanwhile, the illusion formation was an exquisite formation that would trap those who didn't understand the formation inside.

The corrosive power of the miasmic gases was extremely formidable, wearing down the tools or energy of those who entered the area with each passing second. No matter how powerful the divine weapon or divine energy was, it was not infinite, and there would come a day when it would be completely exhausted. If they couldn't get out of the formation before then, they would end up being nothing more than a puddle of blood!

Donna was very clear about this and was therefore very anxious to leave.

But even after ten minutes of travelling at such a high speed, they still couldn't get out of the area that looked less than a few kilometres wide from the outside. It was simply illogical! Donna could tell that something was wrong, but unfortunately she couldn't tell what it was because she knew nothing about this wonderful formation. All she could do was worry helplessly and feel defeated. In addition to the dreaded pressure that was only increasing as time went on, there was no way that Donna could keep her cool.

"Bryan, please, I beg you, please let me in! My divine weapon cannot take any more corrosion. " Li Wei was agitated. Even her usually spiteful tone vanished and she began to plead with Han Shuo.

Han Shuo was indifferent, as if he had not even heard Li Wei's cry.

Although Donna was distraught with fear, thanks to her excellent self-cultivation, she didn't lose her rationality and pleaded with Han Shuo on Li Wei's behalf, "Bryan, if it's possible, just let her in.

Ever since she arrived on the Profound Continent, she had shown Han Shuo the proper courtesy and respect. She had even defended Han Shuo with her words all along. There was no way that Han Shuo could refuse her when she asked for a favour. Therefore, Han Shuo, who had turned a blind eye to Li Wei all along, finally nodded his head and expanded his protective shield slightly. Then, with his two hands, he cut a crack in his shield, allowing Li Wei to enter.

Li Wei was extremely pleased. With a smooth movement, she pushed herself through the crack and stood next to Han Shuo.

"Hmm, there's still some space left!" Donna called out quietly. With a delighted smile on her face, she said to Han Shuo, "Bryan, I don't think it would be a problem to add one more person!"

Han Shuo was speechless.

"I will take your silence as an agreement. Thank you very much!" Donna pursed her lips and smiled. After Li Wei, she stepped into Han Shuo's protective shield and leaned against him as well.

"No more, there's no more space!" Seeing the fiery glances of Bolten, Bowen, and Colbert, Han Shuo hastily pulled back his shield and tried to stop their thoughts of entering his shield as well.

When Han Shuo pulled back his shield, Li Wei panicked and leaned closer to Han Shuo. Donna followed suit to avoid being exposed to the corrosive gas.

With that, by basically doing nothing, Han Shuo had two goddesses throwing themselves at him like opposite poles of a magnet.

Meanwhile, outside his shield, Bolten, Bowen and Colbert had to constantly resist the onslaught of the corrosive gases. Bolten and Colbert, using their divine energy to defend themselves, looked particularly strained and tired.

The contrast was stark; one part of the crew was in paradise and the other in hell!

"This place is quite bizarre. I don't know if I can find an exit. Bolten, Bowen, Colbert, since you might all have trouble staying under the corrosive gas, why don't you go back to the entrance we came from and wait for our signal when we find the exit?" Donna seemed very apologetic and said this out of consideration for the three.

The three, whose faces were filled with anguish as they looked at Han Shuo, were about to go in the other direction when Han Shuo suddenly shouted, "No!

"You little wretch, who do you think you are? Do you want to watch us die in this gas? Will that satisfy you?" Bolten was furious to see Han Shuo surrounded by beauties while they suffered. If Donna hadn't been there, he might have pulled Han Shuo out of his shield to put him through the same agony!

Donna was also quite shocked. She turned slightly awkwardly to Han Shuo with her rosy lips close to his ears. She said, "Bryan, they will surely die if they stay here!"

"No, they will surely die if they try to go back! Haven't you noticed that we've been walking in circles around the same area all this time? The way I see it, once we've gone in, there's no going back. I dare to guarantee that if they go the other way, they will never find the entrance or exit!" Han Shuo was furious. He knew that these people had absolutely no understanding of the strangeness of a demonic formation and were naive enough to think that they could always retreat to the entrance once the situation went south.

"What? We have been running in circles all this time?" Li Wei shouted next to Han Shuo's ear. Her voice was sharp and made Han Shuo tremble, causing the shield to shake with him. Li Wei and Donna each grabbed hold of one of Han Shuo's arms and leaned even closer to him, afraid that they would leave the area covered by his shield.

After being reminded by Han Shuo, Donna, the most powerful of the team, cautiously remembered for a moment and muttered, "That, that seems to be the case!"

"After entering here, there is no way back! We can either find the exit or die!" Han Shuo said coldly.

After hearing these words, the Brook brothers and Colbert, who had hoped to leave, had faces as ashen as the dead.

Every single one of the gang was exceptionally nervous, and Han Shuo could see their desperation. He smiled and declared with a puff of chest, "If you look closely, you will see that there are some unique but regular patterns in this place of colourful corrosive gases. I think as long as we find the right pattern, we can get out of here!
