Lub Dub... Lub Dub... Three more demon guards who were in the Void for the first time could not contain the fear in their hearts. Their heartbeats suddenly accelerated, and after a short while they seemed to be beating at the same rate as the seal. Leviathan angrily told them to calm down, but it was too late. One by one, the three of them exploded, their flesh and bones splattering all over the place.
Fortunately, everyone was on alert after witnessing the first explosion. Seeing the three Demon Guards about to explode, they hastily set up their own defences and managed to block the impact of the flying flesh and shattered bones. They suffered no major damage.
All of the characters who had cultivated to the heights of the Demon had a steady heart and mind. However, in such an intense environment, under the tremendous pressure of the two Demon Kings, some of them lost their minds. It was just so that their heartbeats would skyrocket and trigger the seal.
Thanks to Han Shuo and Leviathan's reminder, as well as the fact that those who remained were a more composed group of people, not a single one of them showed the slightest bit of fear or worry. Every one of them had a face as firm as a rock, and their heartbeats were so flat that Han Shuo almost thought they were dead.
After this round of danger, all of these men truly understood just how treacherous the Void was, without needing any more words from Leviathan and Manticole. It was no wonder that the two demon kings were so cautious. Even an accelerated heartbeat could cause death by spontaneous combustion. They knew the dangers of the Void by heart.
"You all saw it just now. In this place, even the smallest mistake could lead to death. Hmph, we could count ourselves lucky this time, since it wasn't a large-scale boundary attack. Otherwise, we would probably all be dead by now. You should all be more careful," Leviathan wasn't emotionally affected by the deaths of his minions at all, instead he began to reprimand them with a stiff face.
"Alright. Kohler, that boundary, try to enter it," Manticole pointed to the path ahead, which was blocked by a boundary without any special visual characteristics, and nonchalantly instructed his minion with the weakest strength among the Black Jade Guards.
The Black Jade Guard whose name was called had fear scrawled across his face in red ink by a Tourette's patient. There was no doubt in his mind that Manticole was using him as cannon fodder to test the boundary ahead. Kohler, who had put his faith in Manticole as the one true God, realised that he had no second choice, no matter how scared he was. He knelt before Manticole and said in a deep voice: "My Lord, if this humble servant is so unfortunate as to lose his life, please take care of my son.
Manticole nodded and said unenthusiastically, "Go ahead. I know what to do."
Without another word, Kohler charged forward with unwavering determination. Suddenly, a blinding flash of light erupted from that formless boundary. In the next instant, Han Shuo sensed an extreme amount of light energy emanating from it. After the flash of bright light, Kohler's body and soul vanished without a trace.
This Kohler had spent a great deal of effort and meticulous cultivation for who knew how long to finally become a demon. In the end, however, he simply vanished in a flash of light...
Manticole was indifferent, showing no sign of grief over Kohler's death. He nodded to the Leviathan standing beside him and said, "Your guards, there's one cultivating in the energy of light.
"Nolan, go," Leviathan ordered without a second's hesitation, not even turning around for a peep.
This Nolan, cultivating in the element of Light, was a beautiful and alluring woman. After hearing the instruction, she just stared blankly for a fraction of a second before shooting directly into that Light Element boundary without uttering a word.
"So this is how you have been advancing the path from the very beginning?" Han Shuo was stunned and asked in horror.
Manticole smiled faintly and replied, "That is correct. We were able to sense the energy type in some of these seals, but not in others. It's usually not a problem to enter a boundary or seal that's made of the same energy that the person is cultivating in. As long as the person doesn't die in there, he or she might even receive great rewards."
Han Shuo shook his head slightly and sighed softly. Although the two demon kings couldn't tell that this boundary was made of the element of light, Han Shuo's wonderful consciousness had sensed it for a long time. However, before Han Shuo could say anything, that pitiful Kohler was sent to his death. Han Shuo didn't know what to make of the duo's practice. As he sighed, he couldn't help but glance at Bord and Zinia.
The couple wore impassive faces, as if they were all too familiar with this method. Han Shuo understood in his heart that their loyalty to Demon King Manticole could not be doubted. Even if Manticole wanted them to kill themselves, they would do so in a heartbeat.
Han Shuo shook his head again, but said nothing more.
That boundary of light glittered dazzlingly. After a long time, the light finally faded before disappearing completely. A pleasantly surprised expression appeared on the beautiful woman named Nolan. Han Shuo could clearly sense the element of light that had gathered intensely in her body. It was clear to him that Nolan must have received some wonderful rewards within the Light boundary.
"Move on!" Leviathan smiled cheerfully, glanced at Nolan in praise, and took the lead with Manticole to move forward.
The two demon kings had a gleam in their eyes as they scanned the area before them. The space beyond this point was unexplored. There could be some magical treasures lurking around every corner, just waiting to be discovered by the two of them!
"Eh!" Manticole exclaimed in surprise. He was very emotional as he took a few cautious steps to the left. His left hand shot out like lightning. A cup glittering with golden rays fell into his grasp.
Han Shuo's sharp eyes and consciousness were fixed on the cup. He could feel an intense divine energy emanating from it, as well as the energy of light surrounding it.
"Damn it, this is an item of light energy. Give me a break!" Manticole cursed in a low voice, regardless of his demeanour. His face was full of disgust as he threw the goblet at Nolan, who was still recovering from the surprise she had received moments before. He said, "Take it. It's fit for you to use. It's probably a divine weapon once used by a Lowgod."
Cultivating in the element of darkness, Manticole instinctively detested the divine energy of the element of light. At first, he was pleasantly surprised, thinking that he had just found a treasure for himself. But he hadn't expected it to turn out to be a divine weapon for the Element of Light he despised. It was no wonder that he was so angry and lost the gentle side he usually kept.
Nolan, on an inexplicable winning streak, received the divine weapon with ecstasy. She repeated over and over, "Thank you, thank you, Lord Manticole!"
"Let us continue. Manticole, don't be frustrated. Maybe you'll find a divine soul of a Midgod of Darkness right here, which you've been looking forward to for many years, hahaha," Leviathan reassured her with a smile.
Manticole's mood seemed to improve slightly after hearing these words. He replied with a smile, "That could be. We have only just begun our exploration. We may find some extraordinary treasures. We have only heard of this divine soul from Bechymos and have never seen anything so unusual with our own eyes. Hopefully we will be so lucky this time.
The group continued on their way, Manticole and Leviathan leading the way. Although they had been very observant, they did not come across any more valuable treasures. A few hundred metres later, a dilapidated magical matrix appeared before them. It was filled with intense lightning energy.
These buzzing electrical sparks were obvious to the eyes. Of course, everyone there understood that the magical matrix belonged to the lightning energy. At this point, Leviathan was quite direct. Instead of letting others take the risk, he reminded the group to be careful before covering his body with lightning bolts and charging forward.
For a moment, bolts of lightning slithered around the Matrix like snakes as the sound of thunder echoed. Leviathan's figure had disappeared into the matrix, where sand and stones swirled around him. As more and more terrifying roars of thunder rang out, the lightning seemed to be less and less contained within the matrix.
Suddenly, it came down where Han Shuo and the others were standing.
Everyone was shocked and immediately sought cover from it. These lightning bolts weren't just terrifying in power, they were also terrifyingly fast. Several demons couldn't escape in time. Their twitching bodies were charred and filled with smoke. Their vitality was slowly draining away.
This Nolan, who had received a divine weapon, would surely have become much stronger with the help of this chance encounter and the divine weapon if she had safely emerged from the Void. Too bad her luck didn't seem to last until the end of the journey. After the lightning energy fell on Nolan, her charred body soon collapsed to the ground.
Han Shuo was shocked. No one else in the group could sense the changes in the environment better than him. Observing with his consciousness, Han Shuo was overwhelmed with shock when he discovered that among those lightning bolts, although a large portion of them were out of control and shooting all around, the lightning bolts that struck Nolan had actually come from Leviathan himself.
In other words, when the dilapidated magical matrix went out of control, this master of Nolan's took advantage of the chaotic situation to electrocute Nolan, who had recently acquired a divine weapon!
The storm continued for a while.
In addition to Nolan, two other demons were killed. When the energy of the dilapidated magical matrix was exhausted, Leviathan emerged from it with an apathetic expression. With a slightly astonished look he looked at Nolan's body, scorched from head to toe, sighed and said, "What a pity. If she could have returned to the surface and cultivated for a while, she might very well have become the sixth Demon King of the Abyss."
Leviathan then walked over to Nolan, bluntly expropriated the divine weapon she had just received, and shook his head with a sigh. Manticole, who was standing next to him, looked away as if nothing had happened.
Han Shuo looked at the charred remains of Nolan as he remembered her unhesitating charge towards the Leviathan. A shiver ran down his spine. From the phrase 'you could very well have been the sixth Demon King', Han Shuo understood what was on Leviathan's mind.
Han Shuo groaned coldly in his heart and silently began to take precautions. He established a connection with Little Skeleton, who was in the distant Netherworld, and ordered Little Skeleton as well as the five elite zombies to get ready and stand by for any sudden change in the situation!
