Chapter 53: The Dangers of the City of Drol

"Loose!"

Felix's high-pitched call opened the curtains for magical attacks.

Suddenly, all the mages next to Han Shuo and the others started chanting magic spells. A column of sharp wind blades, several large, blazing fireballs, several spiky bolts of ice, lightning that landed violently from the sky, and even the long swords of the light-major students' Radiant Slash all suddenly appeared and rushed towards the charging wolf riders.

Fanny and Gene also chanted their incantations, and the skeletons and zombies staggered out one by one. They ran out from the side of the front warriors and charged the wolf riders.

The orcs on the wolves' backs were instantly engulfed in magic and suffered brutal blows. Beneath the howling of the windblades, the wolf riders and the great wolves they rode on were covered in wounds. As the great fireballs came crashing down, several of the wolf riders were engulfed in the blazing fire. Soon after, the ice bolts and lightning also took the lives of ten or so wolf riders.

However, there were around five hundred wolf riders. When the wave of magic came crashing down, it only killed the thirty or forty wolf riders at the front. The rest of the wolf riders showed no sign of fear or cowardice as they watched their companions die. They continued to thunder forward in excitement, not caring one bit about their deaths.

Just as the mages were about to chant the second wave of magical incantations, crossbows appeared, unseen, in the hands of the charging wolf riders. They raised the crossbows and clouds of sharp arrows flew like the wind, soaring over the first row of heavily armoured warriors and heading for the mages and archers.

"Everyone be careful!" The elven archer, Blanche, shouted in a melodious voice, directing the archers to counterattack.

The mages had been chanting incantations, planning to attack the wolf riders. Seeing the sharp arrows flying towards them, they immediately changed the direction of their magical attacks, releasing waves of magic to crash down on the arrows in mid-air, destroying them before they could hit their targets

Not all of the arrows were destroyed by the magic, however. Ten or so sharp missiles were still shot down, and the powerful force behind them instantly pierced two novice thunder mages to death. Three or so mages suffered some sort of injury. At that moment, the three priests suddenly began chanting healing spells and tending to the three injured mages.

Since this wave of magic had all been used to counter the sharp arrows, the wolf riders hadn't suffered much damage. They charged over with even greater speed. The great wolves charged over with an extremely ferocious aura. The skeletons and zombies that bore the initial brunt of the attacks were destroyed in a matter of seconds.

Beneath the onslaught of the great wolves, The lowest level skeletal warriors were abruptly crushed into pieces of bone and had no effect at all. The zombie warriors withstood the onslaught for a brief moment, but under the slashes of the orcs' long swords, the heads of about ten zombie warriors were simultaneously sent flying as they fell to the ground.

"Humph. The dark creatures of the Great Necromancer are really useless!" Seeing that the Necromancy Major's dark creatures didn't have much of an effect, Irene and a few other light-hearted students began to jeer at them.

Han Shuo grasped a dagger in his hand, his entire being still calm and composed. His eyes gazed at the figures of the wolf riders in the distance, completely ignoring the taunts of Irene and the light-major students.

The crossbows in the wolf riders' hands rose again and another hail of arrows rained down. The mages in the back all used magic to defend themselves. A few mages with more training destroyed the sharp arrows flying towards them, and were still able to continuously release magic to attack the wolf riders coming towards them.

Five sharp arrows suddenly shot over with a whooshing sound, heading towards the necromancy students. Fanny and Gene's expressions changed as they both sent out bone arrows, destroying three of them in mid-air. One of them had veered off course and shot into a corner where no one was standing, while the other was heading straight for Amy.

At that moment, Amy panicked and began to chant magic. Gene and Fanny were also a little worried and also began to chant quickly, but the speed at which they were all chanting was obviously slower than the speed of the arrow.

A dagger suddenly drew a cold line through the air and flew into the sky like a bolt of lightning. A sharp crack was heard as the arrow flying towards Amy shattered into several pieces. At the same moment, Han Shuo's body suddenly twisted out, stopping in front of Amy and catching the dagger before it landed on the ground.

"Thank you Bryan!" Amy smiled broadly after the crisis had been averted, full of gratitude towards Han Shuo.

"You're welcome!" Han Shuo nodded with a faint smile and returned to Fanny and Lisa's side, dagger in hand, surveying the surroundings with a calm face.

Finally, after paying the price of seventy injured or dead wolf riders, the wolf riders broke through the constant waves of magic attacks and came into direct conflict with the warriors of Drol. A great battle suddenly broke out, with fifty to sixty warriors armed to the teeth, wielding broadswords and long spears. There were even ten or so knights with lances, fighting the wolf riders from the backs of their battle steeds.

The mages chanted their magic as they flew through the air in glorious flashes, landing on the wolf riders in the rear. The entire southern part of the city of Drol was engulfed in the heat of the battle, amidst the sounds of violent explosions.

Han Shuo, Fanny and the others stood behind the warriors and continued to chant magic. Bolt after bolt of bone spears and arrows flew towards the orc wolf riders who were charging the defensive line of warriors.

Hovering in the air, Felix became the primary target of every orc wolf rider's crossbow. More than ten sharp bolts whistled towards him, but Felix showed no sign of panic. He chanted an advanced wind spell, causing a ten-metre tornado to form in the air behind the wolf riders. Wherever the tornado touched, wolf riders were swallowed up, and a terrible scream and wail could be heard.

After the tornado had appeared, Felix waved the magic wand in his hand, and in an instant, more than ten windblades flew out of his body, destroying the sharp bolts flying towards him. At the same time, a magical shield appeared and completely covered him. The few sharp missiles that managed to get past his magic were blocked by the magic shield. Felix suffered no damage to his body.

"So strong! That's the true power of a magician!" The light students watched Felix's relaxed expression alongside Han Shuo, all of them showing expressions of adoration and worship as they sighed with emotion.

Just as everyone was thinking about how amazing Felix was, the previously relaxed Felix suddenly let out a loud cry. "Oh dear, more wolf riders have appeared in the distance. There seem to be some Orc shamans with them as well. Let's retreat! Everyone split up and make for the town of Zajoski."

Felix's words had an immediate effect on everyone gathered. Han Shuo was the first to react as he grabbed Fanny's small hand and calmly said, "Follow me, hurry.

Fanny was startled and when she saw Han Shuo's gravely calm expression, the curses that had made their way to her mouth changed to, "All right, but where do you want to go?"

"To where the battle seeds are kept. We must hurry and find the battle seeds. Only on the backs of horses will we have a chance to escape to Zajoski, otherwise it will be difficult to guarantee our escape from the grasp of the wolf riders." Han Shuo's mind was thinking very quickly at that moment and he spoke with a firm and grim determination.

Fanny reacted immediately when she heard Han Shuo's explanations and called out hurriedly. "All students, follow me."

Han Shuo knew that Fanny agreed with his plan when he heard her call. He turned his head to see Lisa looking covetously at the hand he'd used to grab Fanny's small hand. Han Shuo's expression turned wry as he also reached out to grab Lisa's hand.

He then paid no attention to either of their expressions as he dragged them off to where the battle steeds were kept.
