The six people were ready to enjoy the fruits of victory when they were instantly startled by Han Shuo's violent scream. They all reacted immediately and wisely gave up on looting the trophies from the twin-headed dragon's body. Their questioning gazes quickly turned to Han Shuo.
After Han Shuo had repeatedly demonstrated his superior perception and strength, they all now treated Han Shuo as the new leader at some unknown time. Even Odysseus showed no dissatisfaction and seemed to accept that this was all a matter of course.
There could only be one leader in a team. As well as having the strength to compel others to trust him, he would have to have a calm mind and a sensitive decision-making ability.
"Follow me!" When Han Shuo discovered that he had become the target of their acceptance, he didn't waste time with empty talk or humility and opened his mouth to make this statement.
Han Shuo quickly passed through the area with a turn of his body and shot to the left. None of the six young adventurers questioned his decision and immediately dropped everything they were holding, ignoring the exposed tents and the still warm body of the twin-headed dragon on the ground and darted after Han Shuo.
A patch of huge towering trees suddenly appeared in everyone's vision. The towering trees here had thick foliage covering the bright moonlight. The branches of these giant trees were like the tentacles of a strange creature in the dark of the night, and were a bit frightening.
When they reached this place, Han Shuo stared at one of the large trees and used the tangled branches to climb up. His body suddenly disappeared halfway up the tree. Of the six, the three swordsmen were quite agile and were only ten seconds behind Han Shuo. The two mages and the archer also climbed up the branches with the help of the others.
The group suddenly discovered that there was an opening halfway up the large tree. This large tree, which looked more than solid and strong, was actually hollowed out. The seven entered through the opening, four of them moving down. Han Shuo, Odysseus and Aphrodite in the back stuck half their heads out and looked into the distance.
"What is it?" Everyone finally caught their breath at this point and Odysseus immediately looked at him in confusion.
"It's a super magical creature, the unicorn. This unicorn seems to have been chasing the twin-headed dragon from the beginning. No wonder it fled in despair." Han Shuo frowned as he explained to Odysseus.
The unicorn was fast as lightning, and its body had the wonderful property of being impervious to magic. The horn on its forehead contained an even more miraculous power. It was the antidote to a hundred poisons, the remedy that could bring people back from the dead and cleanse polluted places. According to legend, The unicorns would only go near pure young girls and hated human males. Normally, unicorns would not do anything inappropriate unless they were angry.
However, Han Shuo could sense this unicorn's anger through his original demons, as if the twin-headed dragon had done something to make it lose all reason. The super level magical creature had an extremely durable body and was resistant to magic. Magical and physical attacks wouldn't have much effect on it, especially since the strength of Han Shuo's group wasn't advanced enough, making it extremely difficult for them to harm the unicorn.
It was said that the unicorns had received the blessings of the gods. If anyone ever harmed or killed a unicorn, they would be cursed and have repeated bad luck. Therefore, even though a unicorn had a body full of treasure, very few people would throw caution to the wind and chase a unicorn.
Odysseus and Aphrodite both inhaled sharply when they realised that the creature pursuing the twin-headed dragon was an angry, super-level unicorn. They all considered themselves lucky to have escaped in time, or else they might have suffered painful consequences from the unicorn's wrath.
As Odysseus and Aphrodite rejoiced, a snow-white unicorn with a horn on its head and a pair of beautiful blue eyes trotted out with elegant hoofsteps to the side of the twin-headed dragon's body. Han Shuo and the others, some distance away in the hole in the tree, immediately hid their presence. In addition to the fact that they were some distance away, they were not afraid of being discovered by the unicorn.
The unicorn had been a little agitated at first, but when it saw the dead body of the twin-headed dragon, it suddenly calmed down. It circled the body with light, graceful steps, and even extended a snow-white hoof to kick the body. When it realised that the twin-headed dragon wasn't moving, it stood still and craned its pure white neck, a very human confusion in its blue eyes.
The unicorn hadn't discovered anything after looking around like that. Then it shook its head and shook itself all over and went back to where it came from. The unicorn wasn't a carnivore, so the twin-headed dragon's body held no attraction for it. Whatever the two-headed dragon had done to enrage it, it was now dead and the unicorn was satisfied.
One of the original demons followed the unicorn closely until it picked up speed and disappeared without a trace. Han Shuo made the original demon retreat and said to the others, "The unicorn is gone. We can now dig out the magic core of the twin-headed dragon."
The others were now full of confidence and acceptance of Han Shuo's decisions and leadership. Even Gordon, who hadn't fully trusted Han Shuo in the beginning, now looked at Han Shuo with a look of sincere admiration. Everyone cheered happily as Han Shuo spoke these words and slowly crawled out of the hole in the tree to collect the spoils of war from the twin-headed dragon.
A strange sound suddenly filled their ears as a manticore carrying a silver-haired youth with an inflexible will suddenly appeared beside the twin-headed dragon.
There was a paralysing venom in each manticore's tail, and its claws were ferocious as they tore into flesh. Add to that its agile movements and powerful jumps, and it was a level one beast that was harder to deal with than the twin-headed dragon. The Manticore was a very headache-inducing existence in the Dark Forest. Who would have thought that such a magical beast could be tamed by others?
The owner of the manticore was a young man of twenty-seven or eight. He was carelessly dressed, with a space ring on his left hand and a broadsword in his right. The lines of his face were determined and angular. Although he wasn't a handsome man, he had his own charm.
"Oh. Looks like I'm in luck today, meeting a twin-headed dragon that's just died." The youth muttered under his breath, urging the manticore to stop in front of the twin-headed dragon, as if he wanted to reap the spoils of Han Shuo and the others.
At that moment, Han Shuo was a few steps ahead of Odysseus and the others and had jumped down from the hole in the tree. When he saw that the boy was matter-of-factly looking at the twin-headed dragon as his prey, he was immediately annoyed. Han Shuo chuckled coldly in the distance and said, "Friend, we killed this twin-headed dragon with great effort. It's not right to collect the loot without asking the owner's permission, is it?"
The boy raised his head to look at Han Shuo and said scornfully, "All magical creatures in the Dark Forest have no owners, whether they are alive or dead. Since I was the one who discovered the twin-headed dragon, it's mine."
Ignoring Han Shuo after saying this, the youth drew a dagger from his calf, minding his own business, and attempted to pull the poisonous fangs out of the twin-headed dragon's head.
Han Shuo was not someone who possessed a good temper and pulled out his crossbow to aim at the other when he saw that the other completely ignored his words. Han Shuo smiled coldly, "I will shoot and kill you right where you are if you dare to move!"
"Oh, then I will move for you to see!" The boy looked at Han Shuo in amusement and said this remotely. He immediately flicked the dagger and pulled out one of the twin-headed dragon's fangs.
Han Shuo nodded and said nothing further. He planned to shoot this bolt out immediately and kill this stubborn fellow. At that moment, Odysseus suddenly shouted, "No!"
Odysseus quickly rushed over to Han Shuo and anxiously explained, "He must be the legendary Trunks. He is a demon who rides a manticore. Anyone who annoys him will be in big trouble. If he wants the twin-headed dragon, he can have it."
Han Shuo's expression changed as he looked at the youth in surprise, finally remembering that this person was the magical creature hunter Trunks in the Dark Forest.
The origin of this person was mysterious. As a swordsman in the Dark Forest, this person's temperament was eccentric and his personality unapproachable. It was said that he hunted not only magical creatures, but also some of the adventurers in the Dark Forest. He was very adept at fighting in the Dark Forest, and even a great swordsman was said to have died at his hands. He was a universally feared cold-blooded killer within the Dark Forest.
"Your friend's suggestion is good, you should listen to him!" The young man held out a hand towards the other poisonous fang of the twin-headed dragon and looked at Han Shou from a distance, seemingly concluding that Han Shuo wouldn't dare make a move.
Only the whistling sound of a crossbow bolt tearing through the air greeted him. Han Shuo's expression was cold as he didn't listen to any of Odysseus' words. The crossbow in his hand was aimed directly at Trunks.
Trunks was just about to remove the other fang and was stunned to see that Han Shuo had actually fired his crossbow. His body was already moving as he revealed his surprised expression, and he'd already taken a step backwards like a ghost.
Pfft. The force behind the crossbow bolt had driven it deep into the ground where he'd been standing, leaving only a half-bolt that continued to tremble in the ground.
If Trunks hadn't dodged in time, his body would have been pierced when that bolt landed!
