Chapter 1A Contemptible Man (1)

East Peak Mainland.

High up on the mountain, the wind howled furiously.

Xia Ruoyun was standing motionless on top of the mountain, her hair entangled wildly with the wind. The chilly gaze of hers was fixed upon the group of people in front of her. Among that group of people, there stood a middle-aged man who was dressed luxuriously.

In the eyes of that man was a chilly and emotionless gaze, prompting Xia Ruoyun to shiver all over from head to toe, with a sense iciness enveloping her heart.

"Xia Ruoyun, you have been running away for too long! Let’s see how are you going to be able to escape again this time!"

The middle-aged man laughed out scornfully, a disdainful half smile hanging on his lips. His eyes looked as if he was piercing through his sworn enemy, as though the girl in front of him was not of his own flesh and blood.

"The Ancient Divine Pagoda was passed to me by Grandfather when he was still alive. I will never ever give it away to anybody!"

There was an unmistakable tone of hatred in Xia Ruoyun's voice.

Back in those days, just because of that one sentence uttered by her grandfather: "Whoever marries the daughter of the Yun family will be able to become the head of the Xia family", her so-called father dumped his childhood lover and proceeded to court her mother instead.

Within the same month that her mother got married to him, he actually went ahead and had a second marriage with his ex-lover, making her the second wife of the Xia family.

As the head of the Xia family, having multiple wives was totally normal. There was completely nothing that her mother could do, other than crying her eyes out everyday.

Had it not been for her grandfather who felt sorry for her, her mother would probably have no place at all in the Xia family...

With his face darkening a few shades, Xia Ming said loathingly, "You atrocious lady, the Ancient Divine Pagoda actually belongs to Chu Xue. How dare you talk to me like that after you have stolen her stuff? Don't you ever forget that when she was born, there were the signs of anomaly from the Heavens. The Emperor's Teacher even prophesied that she was the reincarnation of the Ancient Phoenix. Father must have been confused and muddled in his mind to have passed the Ancient Divine Pagoda to you. Now that he is already dead, it is up to me to set this right again!"

"Ha ha ha!" Xia Ruoyun let out a boisterous laugh that echoed for a long time in the distant mountains.

"Did you actually forget that the day that Chu Xue was born was actually my birthday too? Grandfather must have his reasons for handing down the Pagoda to me. But look at you!"

She sneered and continued, "In the interest of getting the Pagoda, you tortured me cruelly. In order to save me, Mother was tormented and persecuted to death by you, dirty swine! Her whole family was also massacred completely by your own hands! How could you still consider yourself as a human being? You did not even hesitate to slaughter your wife just for the sake of another daughter!"

"Humph!!" Xia Ming let out a disdainful snort and said coldly, "She was not worthy to be my wife. It doesn't matter whether the reason was you or not, I would still not have let her continue to live. It was only with her death that the woman that I love could rise up to the throne!"

Woefully, Xia Ruoyun shut both of her eyes in grief. The image of her mother's tragic life was still etched into her mind.

She really had given up!

Given up the consignation that was entrusted by her grandfather and wanting to use the Pagoda to exchange for her mother's life instead. However, it was as if Mother knew clearly what she was going to do and so, she chose to use her own death to protect the Ancient Divine Pagoda.

Even just the mere thought of it now still gave her an enormous sense of heartbreak and pain!

"Xia Ming, with all things that you have done, you will eventually be full of remorse and regret! A man like you who is so treacherous, heartless and perfidious will get your payback and punishment and be looked down forever!"

"Regret?" Xia Ming let out a scoff. "Do you even know about the rumour that is about you?" You, Xia Ruoyun, an arrogant and conceited girl, has provoked an insidious enemy and it was because of this reason that every member of the Yun family was massacred! As for me, Xia Ming, am a faithful and pitiful widower who mourned sorrowfully for your mother. Even Chu Xia was so heartbroken that she passed out multiple times. It was only you, the ungrateful cowardice daughter, who went into hiding after bringing such suffering to the family. Then again.... ha ha ha! Your mother didn't even get to be buried in the ancestral grave of the Xia family! I threw her body into the unmarked mass grave and it was devoured by the pack of wolves there! The Xia family ancestral grave is not a place where a nameless woman can easily enter!"

Rebirth; Illegitimate Daughter Turns Tides

#COMPLETED# *It's a fluffy sweet light novel with a fast pace..* "Mr, you are so handsome, may I?" She turned around warmly eying him, her enchanting smile was alluring and so were her purple eyes. Huo Shen didn't respond but rather let her do whatever she wanted, seeing he hadn't declined, she lifted her handcuffed hands and removed the mask carefully without messing around with his hairstyle. "You look handsome without this purple mark, too bad you got poisoned! What a handsome face you got here..." She slightly sighed her tone sounding like she was pitying him, the huge purple mark around her cheekbone, was spreading and enlarging. "Aren't you?" He was surprised that someone could tell it was poison, yes, his body had been dwindling little by little... He could no longer feel like he was himself. "Me? I was born like this..." ************************* Su Wei Wei was born illegitimate, out of wedlock and the second family her mother got married to, treated her like a servant with no family standing. Her half-siblings didn't spare a single minute at her, she lived in servants' quarters with the other Su family servants! All she did receive were worn-out things from clothes to shoes. She attended a low-grade school while her stepsiblings studied at top schools, because of her naivety, she was kind that they had allowed her to stay in their house and thus she took everything positively Her kindness had made them use her, her weakness had made them step all over her, and now with a Rebirth, she gains enough life experience and knowledge of the future, how is she going to maneuver around to change her fate? After getting out of prison, she gets adopted by a powerful man, recalling her miserable life, and she decides to exert revenge. With the presence of the man, she can yield power but she gets to tie him down because of a favor and thus they get engaged. *I don't own the cover, credit goes to the owner...* Caution; I'm not creating a cold and unfeeling Male Lead who thinks irrationally and grumpy all the time, he can be to the outsiders but not the Female lead.... I already said, it's a sweet and fluffy novel... there is no torture between make Lead and the female lead, don't expect to see that in my novels.

Mated To The Cruel Prince

[Matured Content] Saving an injured Fae in the forest had not been Islinda's plan, and worse, he turns out to be royalty, Prince Valerie of the summer court, heir and crown prince to the throne of Astaria. But then, humans were wary of those otherworldly creatures while the Fae looked down on the humans, thinking of them as lesser creatures. Islinda and the prince were worlds apart but that didn't stop them from falling in love.  Unfortunately, Prince Valerie couldn't stay in the human realm forever and had to return to his kingdom with a promise to come back for her. And she believed him.  But then, the other one comes instead.  Dark, broody, ruthless yet dangerously handsome, everyone feared Prince Aldric. Even as a fierce warrior and son to the king of Astaria, Aldric is denied his right to the throne and cursed never to take his place because of his dark heritage.  Twisted from the inside and starved of affection, Prince Aldric does what he is best at, causing misery. He captured  Islinda - the woman who has drawn his brother's attention. He stole her from her home for his cruel purpose. If he couldn't have the throne, he could at least play around with his brother's love interest. His new prize.  Islinda hated him. Loathed him for taking away everything that she could have had with the summer prince. He's the villain. Now she has been dragged into the middle of the dirty politics played in the courts of Astaria, not to mention surviving the cold games played by the prince.  But all hope wasn't lost because the cruel prince could tempt her all he wants but he was never going to get the one thing he wants the most. To be loved. He would never have her heart!  Or could he?  ________ "What can you offer me, little human," He grinned, slow and cruel. She would make such a wonderful plaything.  "Please," She begged him, tears now gathering in her eyes, "Just let me go."  "Fine," He shrugged as if it was an easy request, "You can go."  "W-what?" She croaked, finding it hard to believe.  "Little human, you would find out my mind changes very easily." Those words sounded merciful yet she could sense the threat beneath.  But did he really mean?  Islinda didn't sit around to find out as she broke into a sprint. If there was even the slightest chance of him changing his mind, then she would take it. She would not give up hope yet.  She didn't know why but Islinda spared a look over her shoulder after a while and the blood drained from her face at what she saw coming.  Oh no, she just made a terrible mistake.  This was never freedom.  It was a hunt.  And she just became the prey.  _________ Note: This is a dark fantasy book and the male lead is a villain, so don't expect fluffy romance. What to expect? Death, gore, thick sexual tension, and explicit scenes. Also, it is not reverse harem. Gift magic castle = 5 bonus chapters! Come, let us have a wild hunt!

Hellbound Heart

[WARNING: MATURE CONTENT] - Izabelle had underestimated the fire she thought she was going to play with tonight. But how could she ever have foreseen that the man she had happened to come across with does not play with just a small fire, but a whole inferno? ___ Excerpt: "You going through this marriage with me might as well be like you digging your own grave. Because the moment you start to want more from me, I will divorce you. And the moment you break your promise and try to fight me… I will ruin you and break you apart completely. Mercilessly. You will regret ever meeting this devil tonight." His threat was given in the same soft but cold voice. But Elle did not even flinch. Her gaze never faltered either. This man was ruthless, and she knew that clearly. His eyes that moment promised nightmares and darkness without any promise of respite. But no matter what he says now, it would still not change her decision. She truly had no other choice. "I understand now…" she said quietly, steeling herself. "Since you don't trust that I will keep my word, how about we do this? You prepare the divorce documents beforehand now and I'll sign it. That way, once you decide to divorce me in the future, the papers would already have been signed and there would be no way I can trouble you about it. You would just need to send it to the lawyers and have it notarized." A heavy silence reigned before his quiet disbelieving laugh broke the silence. "I'm at a loss for words, Princess Izabelle." He looked wickedly amused. But then he started nodding in approval. "Fine, princess. I will marry you." ___ Instagram account: kazzenlx.x facebook page: author_kazzenlx Discord server: https://discord.gg/UGTA3A4 Cover is mine so don't use it. Translation Quality - 4 out of 5 stars Stability of Updates - 5 out of 5 stars Story Development - 1 out of 5 stars (0 is not an option) Character Design - 1 out of 5 stars (0 is not an option) World Background - 1 out of 5 stars (0 is not an option) Combined score = 2.4 out of 5 stars which is quite misleading considering the actual quality of the story, which is non-existent. All the characters are quite one-dimensional (as of chapter 92 which is as far as I could force myself to go), including the MC. I would be okay with this normally, but each character seems to fit into one of two or three categories. If you're going to make one-dimensional characters, at least vary the dimensions. Don't make 90% of them tropey, selfish, annoying, excessively dumb, privileged types, and the other 10% secretive, mysterious, conveniently selfless for the benefit of the MC types. Don't forget the random, deus-ex-machina superman who is both super handsome that his beauty would literally drive people man but is also conveniently an amnesiac that completely-by-chance meets the MC and imprints himself on her. By the way, everyone and their mother is trying to get revenge on someone or something. Weird way to motivate each person -_-. Don't forget that most of the male characters are super beautiful/handsome where the main thing that separates them is different color pupils or maybe their hair. There was a guy with peach clothes which I could appreciate. The girls had a small bit of variety which was at least a little better than the 'jadelike beauty' I am used to dealing with, but I couldn't paint a clear picture of anyone except maybe 2 persons. As for story development, it was alright in the beginning: classic reincarnation from a bitter death that motivates MC to pursue revenge. I was cool with that. Like I said, little lame that everyone else is also wanting revenge on everyone and their mother for some reason, but whatever. The problem lies in that she draws attention from everyone and everything almost immediately upon reincarnation, and she never suffers for it. She claims to want a low profile, but does nothing to maintain one. And people keep making bets with her where she wagers little to nothing at all, and the other people swear their entire livelihoods. Completely outlandish, By the way, there's a lot of "I cannot explain **** to you because you're still too weak to learn about it" from many different persons which would be forgivable if it were one or two things from a single person. But every beneficial person to her is just keeping secrets for some reason even though they probably don't have to. As for World Background, she went from one "mainland" to another, and I believe that means she traveled to a different continent, but despite that, we know nothing about any cities or kingdoms or their culture. There's some sort of royal family, but I don't know what the royal family is ruling over, maybe just have the name of one or two of them. There are sects, clans and businesses as well, but their true power/status is either shrouded in mystery or just said to be "this stronger than that" in an ambiguous/vague manner. I think the greatest disappointment for me concerning this book is that the title and cover are great and the synopsis wasn't bad. It's rated 4.4 (at the time of this review) and read by so many people with many glowing reviews which misled me completely. I was quite excited to give this book a try and was completely disappointed by what I read. Is this the worst thing I've ever read? No. But it honestly comes quite close. Should you read this book? Probably not. If I had infinite time to live, then I wouldn't mind wasting a few days to read this book because even though the plot and character designs are bad, it can feed my reading addiction. But considering I have a finite amount of time to spend reading books, in my opinion, it is a waste to use it on this one. If these categories improve in the later chapters, I don't mind someone replying to this post and telling me that. But if it doesn't, please let me know.

OldReadLv2

1. Character's personality. One word. Hoodlums. That is what I can think of to ALL of them even the main character. She is not any better in level of mentality with the villians. They are all about revenge, domination, being aggressive and aim for the kill without restraints. If they want it, they got to have it by hook or by crook. I don't hate revenge plots, but I expected that the main character at least have some kind of graceful and noble traits (usual expectations for hero characters). They are all egoistic psychopaths! 2. Character development. Terribly badly written. Like the time in chapter 12, when the main character challenged an elder pharmacist. She demanded an unfair bet conditions while she admittedly has absolutely zero knowledge with refining pills (base on chapter 9)! Let's get real. Even if she is an arrogant genius, she at least had to have a grasp of the basics of refining! All she did is throw a prescription base on her medicinal 'knowledge' (from her master a doctor which was mentioned on later chapters) to someone to make into a pill. A pill's effectiveness is base of the cultivator's skill. She didn't do any refining and then she won? BS! 3. Way of writing. It is a frigging INSTRUCTION MANUAL! Too mouthful. Many unecessary written details that goes in circles. Everytime something is being described, I feel I'm reading an instruction book than being told a story. It feels something 'like' this: [The villian comes running towards protagonist with a dagger.] Villian: [shouts] I'm going to kill you with my dagger! Protagonist: [screams] Ugh! Your dagger hit me. 4. Ease of reading... The first few chapters are HARD to read because of bad construction of words. It is like reading something from Google translation (which is bad). I tried to continue reading anyway, thinking that maybe the translation will get better. Unfortunately, it didn't. I skipped a lot of chapters. It just made me cringe forcing myself to keep on reading. Too many usage of exclaimation points, and it feels they are all shouting and screaming too much.
