Mayday mayday!

March 22, 2019.

I just found out that his mother was murdered just a few days before my parents...

Was he meaning to take revenge just like I am now?

Must've been lonely—

I hope he went through as much pain as I did.

I will kill him.

I will.

"What next? You're gonna become the next Leonardo Da Vinci of this generation?"

Joker glanced at Damien and smirked. "Wouldn't be too bad, would it? Ezekiel Wei, definitely not known as Joker, is considered to be on par with the master Picasso himself!"

Damien shook his head, scoffing. "Where should we dispose of the body?"

"The usual. Sewers." Ezekiel commented, resting his arms on the railings of the balcony overlooking the club below. "Where's Theo? Abi? The rest?"

"On their way hopefully. Maybe. I don't know." he shrugged and hissed when Ezekiel kicked him in the leg without glancing back.

"Zei," Damien uttered in a sing-song playful voice. "Your favorite toy's here."

Ezekiel frowned and then abruptly smiled. Gazing down from the balcony, his eyes instantly spotted the male covered fully in casual clothes, walking down to the nearest couch where all the ladies were assembled. "Selena seems to be handling him pretty well."

Damien nodded and then spoke while looking at his phone, "Gotta go pick up that bastard Theo now. He apparently forgot his car back at the base. Be back soon."

Ezekiel waved him goodbye with his hand and signaled a guard to bring him a bottle from down the bar.

[This is going to be entertaining as hell.]

Just as he was raising the bottle to take a small gulp of the beer in his hand, his eyes caught the sight of a small woman— no, girl— stepping in through the doors. She seemed to be quite lost as he watched her eyes dart around in search of something or someone.

Her hazel brown hair and black hoodie seemed too out of it; she didn't seem to fit in the atmosphere of the club. Hell, she didn't even look old enough to belong here.

Cocking his head, he continued to watch her curiously through the grey fog that covered his eyes. She finally seemed to have found what she was looking for and he followed her line of sight which was fixed on Officer Qin.

The girl then took a seat in front of the bar and looked as if she was ordering a drink. Ezekiel took a sip of the beer in his hand and then setting it down, stepped down the stairs taking his time, his eyes refusing to leave the girl whose hands had now transformed into fists.

"I'll serve the young lady," he told, more like ordered the bartender who immediately bowed and silently departed to a corner to wipe the glasses which were already sparkling clean.

Grabbing the martini the bartender seemed to have already prepared, he slid it toward the girl who was still staring in the direction of the Officer.

"Jealous?"

The girl's dark caramel orbs, shimmering with a hint of golden warmth, slowly shifted, locking with his misty ones, and at that moment, time seemed to stand still. Their connection transcended the realm of familiarity, capturing his attention with a depth and intensity that no stranger had ever managed to evoke before. As he stared into her eyes, he could feel a whirlwind of emotions coalescing within the depths of her mystifying gaze—an enigmatic blend of longing, curiosity, and vulnerability.

With a trembling breath, he found himself momentarily paralyzed, his heartbeat quickening in response to the captivating power of her gaze. Her eyes seemed to hold a secret, a hidden tale yearning to be unraveled, and he was drawn to decipher its enigmatic language. Each subtle shift in her gaze revealed a kaleidoscope of emotions—fragments of joy, sorrow, and a hint of unspoken desire.

In that fleeting moment, as the weight of their connection hung palpably in the air, she reached out her hand, delicately grasping the glass. With an unspoken understanding between them, she raised it to her lips, her movements graceful yet urgent. And in one fluid motion, she tilted the glass, allowing its contents to cascade into her mouth in a single, audacious gulp.

The glass made a small clink as she set it down a second later and parted her lips, "I have no reason to be."

"Wanna teach him a lesson?" he asked, and she seemed a little taken aback at how he had understood the situation so accurately. Ezekiel only smiled, his smoky doe eyes challenging her silently.

"And who might you be to stick your nose into others' business?" she raised a brow yet he only offered his hand, unfazed.

"I'm Zei. Just Zei. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Haven glanced down at his arm which was revealed as his sleeve slid up a little. The intricate design of tattoos caught her eye briefly but then she looked away, ignoring his hand which remained hovering midway.

Slightly embarrassed, Zei withdrew his hand and ran it through his hair making it appear even more tousled. "Revenge first?"

Haven looked back at him. "You know him?"

Sliding his finger down the empty glass, he nodded. "He's... He can be called an entertaining enemy."

Taking an abrupt intake of air, breathing suddenly felt problematic as she momentarily felt bewitched by the symphony of emotions orbiting in his eyes.

'Mayday mayday! Evacuate and run for your life!' her subconscious screamed in her ears but it all seemed to have faded into the background music as he tilted his head and smiled.

"Make your move?"
