Demyan
"What do you mean they fooled us?" I sat up in my seat as panic seized me. Pa was always calm and stoic that when you saw him upset and unable to form a sentence you had to know the situation was bad.
"They just wanted you Demyan," he frowned as he folded his arms across his chest, "You're one of the ballet dancers in the world that brings in the most money with just one performance. Everyone wants to see you and they just wanted their next money mule. Since I danced there hasn't been anyone else and now that you're becoming the next me, there's a lot of backstabbing in the industry."
"But- but I don't understand. Why don't they want Malia?" my eyebrows furrowed as I felt my heart squeeze, "She's my dance partner."
"Malia was a temporary distraction to get you to agree to the contract. If I had known," he pressed his hand to his forehead, "If I had known I would have warned her. She could have stayed in Russia."
