A Step Back

Nicole declined Tyler's invitation, choosing to focus on Melbourne Enterprises instead. She couldn't shake off the feeling that her mother's warning and Rachel's concerns were justified.

As she delved into work, Nicole's mind cleared. She needed to prioritize her family's legacy and protect her own interests too.

The next morning, Nicole met with her team to discuss strategy.

"Let's re-evaluate our partnership options," Nicole said, her tone assertive. "I want to ensure we're making the best decisions for Melbourne Enterprises."

Her team nodded, scribbling notes.

Just as the meeting concluded, Emma interrupted.

"Nicole, Tyler Winslow is here to see you."

Nicole's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected him to show up unannounced.

"Send him in," Nicole said, composing herself.

Tyler entered, his expression unreadable.

"Nicole, I understand you're hesitant," Tyler said, his voice low. "But I assure you, our partnership will benefit both our companies."

Nicole leaned back, her eyes narrowing.

"I appreciate your enthusiasm, Tyler. However, I need time to reassess our agreement."

Tyler's gaze lingered, searching for any sign of weakness.

"I understand," he said finally. "But know this, Nicole: I won't wait forever, I have a huge company to run."

With that, Tyler left.

Nicole exhaled, feeling a mix of relief and uncertainty.
