Chapter 43: You Should Be Afraid

Through the portal, Luke returned to Room 36, the hidden library.

There was no sound outside.

Luke cautiously poked his head out, but there was no one around.

The Imperial guards and Empire's secret agents must have gone elsewhere. Since he had already obtained the Book of Calamity, he would leave the Olu Academy and let them continue their search here.

Luke walked out of Room 36 and carefully made his way up the stairs.

At that moment, a small head appeared behind a hanging lamp on the ceiling.

It was a little monkey about the size of a teacup.

It stared at Luke with its big eyes until she disappeared at the top of the stairs. Then it jumped down from the hanging lamp, transformed into an owl in mid-air, silently glided down to the spiral staircase, and changed back into a monkey, grabbing onto the handrail to climb up.

Luke was unaware that he was being followed. Reliant on her familiarity with the terrain of the Olu Academy, she left the library and entered a nearby forest.

Passing through the forest led to the main teaching building of the Olu Academy.

It consisted of four castle-like structures, with upper, middle, and lower corridors connecting them.

The basement of the northeast castle had a hidden entrance that led to the sewer. By following the sewer, one could leave the Olu Academy and find the connection point to the main space outside, which would take them back to the city of Nutao.

The spatial teleportation startled Haidisiko, along with the three children who were with him, including Lydia, the girl who had sat next to Luke on the bus.

"We... we believe you are a good person, or rather, a good elf. My father said that Councilor Vajil is a fraud, a villain, a criminal who should be put on the gallows.

We will help you hide.

Lydia, go check if there's anyone outside."

Behind her, a group of Empire's secret agents rushed out from the other end of the corridor.

They saw the invading elf and immediately drew their swords, preparing to attack. In their haste, they knocked Lydia down and trampled over her.

Luke witnessed the secret agents charging forward and simultaneously unleashed her combat skills without regard for the three academy students who were with her. She swiftly closed in on the secret agents, her blades enchanted with ice, unleashing a blast of freezing air.

Lydia, who had been trampled, was in an unknown condition, angering Luke. She would save the girl who had tried to protect her at the fastest speed.

But just as Luke was about to swing her ice blades at the secret agents, an owl flew in from behind her.

Immediately after, a strong gust of wind swept through the corridor, forcefully pushing the charging secret agents against the walls, pinning them down.

In the center of the wind, the owl transformed into an old man wearing a black wizard's robe. Leaning on his staff, he walked through the scattered secret agents and picked up the unconscious Lydia from the ground.

The wind stopped blowing at that moment, and the secret agents fell heavily to the ground.

"Headmaster Wilfred!" Haidisiko called out loudly upon seeing the old wizard.

Wilfred checked Lydia's condition, ensuring she wasn't in immediate danger, and handed her over to the Olu mages who had arrived after hearing the commotion.

"Help me capture the assassin? But why did I see you hurting my students!

I shouldn't have let you in.

Get out, all of you, leave the Olu Academy."

The secret agents realized they had angered Headmaster Wilfred and were taken aback by his sudden appearance. They didn't expect him to be there.

With things unfolding like this, if they didn't want to die, their only option was to leave. They would report what happened here to Councilor Vajil and let him negotiate with Headmaster Wilfred.

The secret agents left dejectedly.

Haidisiko and the three students stuck close to the wall and ran to stand behind Headmaster Wilfred, checking on Lydia's condition.

Wilfred tapped his staff, and the window behind Luke closed.

"Elf, tell me why you infiltrated the Olu Academy."

Luke smiled and replied, "Infiltrate? I came to the Olu Academy openly and honestly, even taking the academy bus. I entered through the main gate."
