Chapter 10

We’re alone,I think, unable to tear my gaze from him. His thin T-shirt sticks to his chest with sweat, his khaki shorts accentuate his waist and thighs. Finally. Alone.

He picks up a towel near the door and wipes his face. The few strands of hair escaping his ponytail flare around his head like a nimbus. Crossing the room, he sinks down beside me on the bench. The look he gives me sends anticipation shivering down my spine. “It’s just you and me now.”

This close I smell his animalistic scent, a thick, heady musk that’s sweet and sweaty and makes my groin ache. Because I don’t know what he expects me to say, I pick out a simple tune on the piano.

Travis eases an arm around my waist, watching my face for a reaction. I flush, my whole body tingling beneath his touch. I know he notices, because he slides closer and rests a hand on my hip. “Do you play?”

It sounds like a sexual innuendo to me. I give him a coy glance and shrug. “I like the way you dance.”
