"We were besieged by a hoard of forest bandits, much more than we have ever defended against. It seemed that our little minerals had attracted the eyes of a few higher-tier bandit lords, and we were crushed. Our village fought hard and long, but eventually, we were defeated. What you see behind me was all that remained from a village of 78 strong," the man said with sorrow laced in his voice.
Listening to this story intrigued Gresvin. Their backstory was interesting, but something was even more critical: "If what I know is correct, your village is weeks of travel away from here. How come you traveled all the way here to take shelter? Surely there are other villages who are stronger than us between us and Caern Mawr?"
