Chapter 22 - Brother?

It was into the night, and many has already fallen deeply asleep, save from the few guards patrolling and securing their posts.

Above the Li Clan's entrance gate, a few men were seated lazily On a mat that was laid on the floor with their backs on the wall behind them, which formed a perfect 90 degrees. Their weapons sprawled all over the ground beside them.

Everybody here is at least a level one Qi Gathering Realm cultivator, and the highest of them, level two cultivators, which would be treated like a god in an ordinary family, but in a huge clan like the Li's, they could only serve as ordinary guards of the lowest caliber.

Most of them had also already fallen asleep while a few of them were discussing quietly.

It was at this moment they suddenly heard a loud cry of happiness coming from within the gate.

They all looked below into the Li Clan that was filled with oil lamps with a start which immediately changed to shock when they heard the other party.

"Hahaha, brothers, I've finally reached the third level of Qi Gathering Realm! After five years of hard work!" A young man dressed in Li Clan's guard's uniform suddenly cried out in joy.

Making every one of the guards instantly stand up in joy.

"Hahaha, congratulations Renshu bro, you're on your way to becoming a leader very soon."

"D*mn many maids would become enraptured by you now that you've broken through!"

"Wo!!!! That's great bro, after five years!!"

Each of the guards began to congratulate happily without any form of pretense.

The excitement in the person that just called now had reached a peak when he heard how excited his brother was for him.

He climbed the staircase that leads to the sentry post.

"Thank you all brothers, if not for you always giving me time to go cultivate when we're on duty, it might have taken me another extra year to reach this level," the guard said with gratitude voice.

"Hahaha, look at you acting like a sissy, is there even any need to thank us your brothers for such a thing?" A guard with a built physique asked in a deep voice mocking this Renshu.

"Hehehe, that's true brother, there is no need for thanking us, we only did what we can. We all know we wouldn't be able to proceed in our cultivation anymore, so we decided to give our brother who has a high probability of advancing a chance," another guard added dismissively.

Seeing and hearing all these, a drop of tear fell off the Renshu dude's eye.

He felt deeply emotional for having brothers like them.

"Hahahaha, we must drink ourselves to death tomorrow, We all shall sneak out after we've changed shift in the morning."

"hahaha, we don't need to wait till tomorrow, I've already brought the wines you need with me," the Renshu guy added mysteriously.

It was then that the remaining guards saw their brother was told a bag that looked heavy in his arm.

"This is the best wine I could find, I've kept it with me for almost a year now waiting for the day I would break through."

"Hun!!! F*ck you bro, how dare you keep the wine from us, your brother?!"

"Hehehe," the guards laughed awkwardly.

As if they'd found the only purpose for them in their lives, the guards rushed the Renshu guy happily and snatched the bag from him.

Then like beasts, they tore the bag into shreds and removed a wine pot from it.

"Hurry up brother, unseal this!"

They all have forgotten their brothers to the side at this moment, with their sights fully focused on the wine pot.

"Pf!!!"

The wine pot was opened, and a great aromatic fragrance oozed out from within.

"F*ck!! This is such a great wine."

"I'm already getting drunk without even drinking it yet."

And like that, all the guards begin to raise the not small wine pot above their head and drink to their heart's content one after the other.

No pretense, no hatred, no irritation.

They were all drinking in happiness and contentment.

After they'd almost finished the wine, one of them suddenly felt something different, he looked back curiously.

"Hai!! Look at us, drinking behind the celebrant," he said in embarrassment.

"Hahaha," the remaining guards also laughed in embarrassment.

"It's nothing brothers," the Renshu guards waved his brothers dismissively with some kind of emotion visible on his face.

"Grh!!! I'm feeling sleepy!!" One of them suddenly yawned and said in contentment.

Then like chains of reaction, the remaining guards began to yawn.

"Look at us, becoming sleepy with only one pot of wine," One of the guards mocked while the others burst into laughter.

Then wordlessly, as the sleep had already overwhelmed their consciousness, they walked back to their mat and laid down peacefully without any doubt or thought.

Seeing all this, the Renshu guy who had been standing at the side all along was not shocked at all by this scene, he suddenly muttered darkly without any feeling of remorse.

"Sorry brothers, I can't be an ordinary security guard anymore."

"At least your deaths are painless," he added coldly.

"Your deaths are worth it, it shall make the first elder give me a medicine that would allow me breakthrough the foundation establishment realm at least, hahahahah"

The guard who had been all emotional earlier began to laugh maniacally.

He looked at the people that had been taking care of him and had loved him sprawled all over the floor emotionlessly, without single grief or sorrow.

Only God knows what the guards that looked like they were sleeping would have thought if they were to know that the brother they loved with all their hearts had betrayed them.

This is exactly what was going on in the various places within the Li Clan estate, different guards, and instructors were murdering their partners with various means, all in the name of a promise made to them.

It was the first elder that had planned this so that the people invading later would have much less resistance when they entered.

"Ta... Ta… Ta…"

Back to the gate, the Renshu guard who had been filled with different thoughts of how he would receive praises from everyone when he finally reached the foundation establishment realm suddenly heard a sound.

'Hehehe, time for things to change,' the guard smiled maniacally.

He hurriedly climbed down the flight of steps and rushed to the huge two gates made with some unknown materials that would not get even a single dent no matter how much force collides with them.

The guard removed all the locks on the gates, then with a hard pull, the gates were opened.
