The howling sandstorm swept down to them with torrential power that buried everything on its way. Perhaps, no living things that live outside the desert could withstand this power. Such raw power was both majestic and deadly.
Not only wind was the problem, but they also had to fend off raging sand that buried everything under their view. The gods and nature were the most enigmatic forces in human's mind and one could see why from this disaster.
" Hold! Don't let go of the rope or we will be lost in this place!"
Agam gritted his teeth, knowing this sandstorm was much stronger than normal ones. Perhaps, they would lose their things here, but surviving is more important than money and camels.
His throat felt heavy and he felt his heart was almost out of his mouth. He was a strong man who could fight against supernatural creatures and masters, but nature is one thing. Only gods and demons could stand a chance against the onslaught of the mother of all living beings.
" Close your eyes before the sand gets into it. Don't lose my voice, always stay vigilant."
He warned his teammates, standing on his ground with a serious face. His clothes fluttered and his tent was almost swept by this storm. However, his belief and motivation caused his feet to be immovable.
Chirp*
The young desert hawk peeked outside from the sack, but as soon as she peeked out, the raging wind took it away. Although Licht knew she would be alright, his hands subconsciously let go of the rope for her.
" What are you doing, vice-captain?"
Mikael shouted despite the heavy storm. His voice attracted others as they saw Licht who was holding a little hawk with relief, being swept by a sandstorm.
" No!"
Lisha immediately let go of her rope when she saw this and so did Chono. They were his partner and companions, they wouldn't abandon him. Thus, they immediately disappeared into the raging sand.
" Hold on. I will go after them!"
Daemon who was the strongest, chased after them into the storm, leaving others in dismay. They couldn't process what happened and why they left there, but they knew they couldn't sit there. Even Daemon was strong, he who doesn't have scouting experience could pinpoint them.
" Damn it!"
Agam gritted his teeth as they were engulfed by the giant sand castle.
A few hours passed after this incident and everyone was dispersed into the various places.
Licht opened his eyes, rubbing his temple as he staggered to get out of the tent. He thought it was their tent, imagining his team would be waiting outside. However, that wasn't the case as he found a young woman who was grilling a scorpion. She didn't mind whether it was poisonous or not, biting it like it was nothing.
" Oh, you are awake. I thought you were a fool who ventured into the sandstorm or a man who decided to kill himself."
She said lightly, handing the scorpion to him. Licht took the scorpion and chewed it like it was nothing since he had eaten worse than this.
" Have you seen my bird?"
He asked calmly, believing this woman didn't harbor any ill intentions. If she wanted to capture himself, she would have tied him or caged him, but she didn't do so. His amber eyes glittered under the fire as the woman looked at him with interest.
" She is okay. I can't believe someone managed to tame the sun hawk. Are you perhaps a descendant of another race that is close to nature?"
She asked with a shining look, believing she could tame one if he spilled his secret. Unfortunately, she was wrong because Licht was just blessed.
" What is your name? My name is Licht. I am from Western."
He introduced himself, looking at her. The woman didn't mind his gaze as she boldly looked at him back.
" Name is Qattara. I am an adventurer and a mercenary who travels through this land for riches. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances, I am hunting down certain people."
She said with visible hatred in her brown eyes. The grip on the wooden stick was tightened as the atmosphere turned heavy.
