*POV* Lexus Franklin
Destiny twisted her long black hair up, pinning it in place. "Ready?" She questioned, Cassy nodded. I watched from my place on the garden bench as they circled one another on the lawn.
I sat on the edge of my seat. "You haven't seen a sparring match before?" Mink chuckled from her place on the grass in front of me, sitting with her legs crossed.
"No," I answered truthfully. Cassy rushed forward with a burst of wind, aiming to kick Destiny in the chest. Her blow was blocked by Destiny.
A burst of fire followed her back as Cassy skidded backward, a wall of water shot up to extinguish the flames. I could feel the warmth from the fire, as Destiny gathered a large ball in between her hands.
Mink got to her feet, she mumbled something quietly. Out of thin air she formed a bow, notching 3 arrows of air she aimed. My heart skipped a beat as I saw what she was doing.
As Cassy fought off Destiny's fire Mink shot the arrows at Cassy's left leg, Cassy sidestepped the arrows, hit the ground right beneath her and exploded a force of wind.
A fierce wind blew across me, but Cassy got the worst of it, she had been thrown backwards. But instead of being tossed into the bushes she disappeared into thin air.
Mink laughed and shouted in triumph. I looked around worried, a second later Cassy landed back where she had left and from her hand shot 2 large attacks, earth magic towards Destiny and water towards Mink.
I squeezed my eyes closed as the wall of water came our way, bracing for the impact. I peeped open one eye as Mink laughed, her spell of air split up the water and it fell to the ground. I stood, but the fight was over.
Cassy came up to try to smack Mink on the arm, Mink dodged laughing. "You have to be ready for sneak attacks!" Cassy grimaced. "You did well." Destiny told her as she leaned an arm across her shoulders.
My chest felt heavy as we headed back into the house, I felt like I was on the edge of a great friendship. Not really fitting in. "I want what they have." I thought, rubbing my arms.
"Are you feeling alright?" Mink asked, looking at me. "I am fine." She smiled, and came to give me a side hug. "Maybe you should go lay down for a while." I knew she was only being considerate of my health, but I couldn't help but feel like they could do without me.
I shook myself mentally and smiled back. "You're probably right. But I want some tea first." She pulled away. "Alright."
They went into the living room to talk about their fight, while I made my tea. A couple seconds passed as I listened to the buzz of their voices.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Stefon step out of the shadow of the pantry doorway. I smiled sadly as our eyes met, he walked over to hug me from behind.
I turned into him as I began to cry. "Why am I so emotional!?" I whispered. I felt him chuckle. Taking my hand he pulled me into the shadows.
I stood in the darkness clinging to him. "Lexus, It will be okay. Are you ready to go back now?" He asked after a minute, I let out a sigh rubbing at my tears with my sleeve.
I nodded. Taking a breath, I cleared my head and let Stefon take my hand and we stepped back into the kitchen.
I picked up my tea as Destiny entered. "Oh, is the jet ready yet?" She asked Stefon. He frowned.
"Yeah, but we are having a bit of trouble trying to convince everyone to leave." I turned to look at his face, he looked distressed. "That's not good, want me to come along?" Destiny asked. "Maybe I could be of some help."
Stefon nodded. "Good idea." He turned to me. "I will be back later." I smiled as he came over to kiss my cheek. I went back to my tea as Destiny grabbed her jacket and she and Stefon stepped into the shadows.
Cassy and Mink entered a couple minutes later. "You have been crying?" Mink asked, coming over to rub my back.
I shook my head. "No, I am okay." She smiled understandingly. "We can help you if you need something." She and Cassy shared a nod. "It's okay. I am going to bed."
"I hope she is okay."
"This is a lot, she is stressed like the rest of us."
I frowned as I heard 2 voices coming from Cassy's mind. Cassy had always been quiet. And I had never heard a single word cross her lips.
"Yes, stress…" The voice yawned, and I felt sleepy too. Cassy was sitting with her elbows on the counter running her finger over the sugar I had meant to spill.
"She seems like a strong person, why would she be crying?" Cassy asked the other. I didn't know how I could tell, but it just seemed right.
"Maybe she misses someone?"
Cassy's lip twitched. "I doubt that. Her husband was just here."
Mink took my tea from me and tasted it. I frowned, turning to her and my focus was lost. "What is this?" I shook my head. "Some blends that Stefon buys. I don't know, it's just always in the cupboard."
Mink shook her head. "It tastes not quite right. I will go pick you some mint." She said as she poured the tea down the drain. My mind focused on Cassy again as Mink walked for the door.
"Do you think she is being poisoned?" She and Mink shared a look as Mink stepped out the door.
"Poisonous tea. This just got interesting." The other voice said. Cassy stood.
I was too stunned to ask what she was talking about. She walked out of the door and I looked at the tea that lingered in the bottom of the sink.
"Was I really being poisoned?!" A weird green hint of color reflected in the liquid. "Ugh," I huffed. Turning on the water, I must have zoned out for sometime because the next thing that happened was someone shaking me.
"Huh?" I asked. She sighed. "I asked if you would prefer honey in your tea." I frowned, she turned to the counter and I shut the water off. "I will just do it, it tastes better anyway."
I frowned again. "Who was this person?" I shook my head. "I knew her, she was Mink." I thought as I frowned. She handed me the tea cup and I took a sniff of the mint smell coming from the almost clear water.
"Drink that. Then go take a nap, you look exhausted." I nodded, sipping the tea. It tasted good just like she had said.
"You guys were saying something about poison?" Mink frowned. "I am not quite sure, but it smelled weird." My mind buzzed. A ringing in my head. "Why would someone poison me?" She sighed. "I wouldn't know that."
She took the cup from me and I noticed my hands were shaking. She smiled and took my hand. "Let's help you to bed."
