SCHOOL part:1

Since that day, I've been able to sleep a bit better. Yesterday, Shaun suggested that it was time for me to go to school. At my school in Elvesland, they mainly teach magic and sword skills. I was curious about what they teach in this world, so I asked Shaun.

He replied, "Well, in your world, they teach magic and all that cool sword stuff, right?" I was surprised. How did he know that?

I asked loudly, "How? Do you have mind-reading abilities?" It turns out Shaun's wife's love of novels written by Aunknown10 has led him to be knowledgeable about what people from a magic world might think, and he managed to guess that, in our world, they teach magic and sword skills. I still wonder who Aunknown 10 is?

I was looking forward to seeing what they teach in this world's schools. I asked, "Hey, uh, Shaun, what kind of stuff do they teach here?" He replied, "I'm not sure you'll understand, but I'll tell you anyway." Shaun showed me a few subjects that looked easy, but when I saw the subject called maths, my brain started to melt like goo. I couldn't understand anything! Nothing. Nada. "This is torture!" I exclaimed. "It's not torture," he responded, "it's mental maths." What is a 1+1? What is a fraction? I hate school. In this world, that is. It was extremely challenging to understand everything, and I could barely follow any of it. It was mentally exhausting, but after some time, I was able to grasp the concept of simple addition and subtraction. Hooray.

"Finally…" I said with a groan. I was exhausted. Shaun suggested, "Hey, you look pretty burnt out. We should take a break and play some video games." Apparently, video games are a great way to relax and get some entertainment. "Well, video games are basically a one way ticket to entertainment!" "Alright! Let's take off our shoes and play outside!" He told me, "No, not that kind of game! Electronics. Oh, wait, I guess you don't have them in your world, huh? This is called a TV." He showed me a hunk of rectangular metal. "It's short for television, and we can play games on it. Here, take a controller." What am I supposed to do with this metallic mechanism?" "You, uh, need to learn a few basic controls before we could start playing." I was excited to try out some video games for the first time, but I wasn't expecting it to be so difficult. As we played some rounds of Street Fighter 6, I quickly found myself struggling to fight.

Despite my initial difficulties, Shaun seemed to enjoy having me play video games as a way to learn new things. I had fun playing and learned a lot about how games worked. I managed to learn some "combos", the controls, and actually managed to beat him! We both had a great time and were able to bond over our shared love of video games.

After we were done, he told me, "Hey, since you memorized those combos so easily, I'm sure you could do your times tables!"

"Uh, what are those? The stuff we eat dinner at?"

"No, maths times tables."

"Times tables?"

"2 x 3." He answered, and I finally got it. "Oh, right, those."
