Ch. 14 'The Stare'

Aside from his curiosity about the match, Richard sensed other powerful fire elemental energy from the second floor.

He saw a blonde man stood there with a concerned look.

"What about that person?" asked Richard.

"Which one?"

"The person who also looks at Scarlet with a worried look. The one who is wearing a black robe with a red stripe in the middle."

"Ah, that is Edward. He was the bodyguard of Scarlet and now her fiance."

"Bodyguard?"

"Fiance?"

Richard and Niken asked simultaneously with different questions. Richard was more interested in the bodyguards part, while Niken was more interested in the word of fiance.

The twins were opposite and not the same as other twins making Karyn was genuinely impressed.

Apart from the same face and eyes color, in other respects and interests, the two of them were utterly contrastive.

"That's right. What I heard was that Edward had been guarding Scarlet since she was a child. Maybe because they often together, eventually, the seeds of love appear between them. I heard that they had been in a relationship for almost four years before they finally got engaged last year."

Richard turned his attention back to Scarlet then to Edward. If the man were Scarlet's bodyguard, then would that guy be stronger than Scarlet? And that means that person is in S-class?

"Karyn. How about Edward's strengths and abilities? Isn't he also a fire Elementalist? Who do you think is better? Scarlet or Edward?"

It's a bit confusing as to why Richard asked that, but Karyn still answered casually.

"I've never seen Edward fight, and certainly, no one would dare to challenge him. Edward is already at level S. Moreover; he will go two to four times a month on a mission given by the higher-ups. So whether he is better than Scarlet or not, I guess he should."

"I thought you said Scarlet was the best fire Elementalist?"

"Hey! I said Scarlet is the best in the whole academy. If you have entered the S level, that means you have graduated being an apprentice and became an Elementalist officially. How can we compare the Sun and Moon classes with those in S and SS level?"

"As expected," Richard murmured more towards himself and turned his attention back to Edward.

If he wanted to get stronger and defeat the enemy who killed his family as in his dream, he must be able to defeat Edward. At least he needs to try to make himself equal with Scarlet for now.

Edward did not stop watching Scarlet's movements. Why did she waste time and play around with those fireballs? She should have created a fire whip or sword to end this match quickly. That way, they could have lunch peacefully before they finally have to separate again.

He had to go somewhere to guard some carriages of Bloem clan after this. He wanted to spend more time with his fiancee before doing his mission, but what's this?

Not only they couldn't have lunch peacefully, but the hard-headed earth Elementalist also challenged his fiances persistently.

Edward only heaved a sigh.

After calming down, he felt something. He felt a pair of eyes were probing him. He wanted to know who was watching him hence looked at the point that he thought.

Ah, it turns out that child. The one who Sir Fred referred to was Scarlet's rival.

Why is he staring at me like that?

Nah, he already knew the answer. He was very familiar with the kind of that look. He had often received such stares at his missions.

The look of Richard wanted to challenge him to find out who was more robust. The look of the young man had a desire to defeat him.

Edward returned the gaze with a cynical smile as a sign of accepting his challenge.

At least, the child would not bother Scarlet.
