Chapter XI

Lux's POV

February 25

I happen to walk around the town of Xayah and saw something spectacular, it was a magic Orb with a rainbow color shining all around it. I find it interesting but also menacing. I know that I don't have the magic to operate this thing but I still want it. It looks powerful to look at hehe.

Like they say don't be mesmerized by the beauty of a weapon because it can be much deadliest object created to cause harm to humanity and the world.

"What are you looking at Lux?" Jessica said as she put her hand on my shoulder.

"Nothing, I'm just interested in this orb," I said with sparkling eyes.

"You don't any have magic, Lux..." Jessica said with a poker face.

"Agh... I know but I still like it and---" Gina cut me off.

"And you won't buy it." She pulled me out of the shop as I was pampering like a child.

"I guess ill just stick with my swords..." I disappointedly said. "by the way where are you trying to drag me to?" I asked Gina.

"At the tavern of course," she said with a straight face.

"Why there exactly?" I asked her one more time.

"To find something to hunt... our funds are getting low and!" she stops and looks at me. "we still haven't got a job as a mercenary so we are still doing a bounty hunter thing.

"We should inform them first..." I said as I walk in the other direction.

She pulled me and look at me with a boring face, "I already informed them, you're just early to go jog in the morning so I haven't told you about it."

"It's my training... I don't have magic so I have to grind my strength hehe," I scratch the back of my head.

She pulled me again to go to the tavern. ugh... why did they put the tavern on the other side of this city...

Gina's POV

I lied about everyone knowing about my plan. I just feel like separating Jess and Lex. I don't know why I'm doing this but I guess it is what it is. if I ever told them that we will go to the tavern I'm sure they'll join so it's much this way... I guess?

while we are heading our way towards the tavern we made a stop at some of the food vendors in this shopping district. Yes, I made him pay for all I eat.

"I thought we are running low on funds?" Lux said in confusion.

I glared at him, "I'm hungry so shut up." I said as I munch down the food he bought.

"girls..." he said as he shakes his head.

"what are you shaking your head for?" I said as I glared at him.

"Nothing, I just can't understand your creatures," he said with a smirk so I gave him a death glare. "haha I'm just kidding let's go?" he asked.

I nod and he grabs my hand and continues to go to the tavern to get a task to earn money. This is on the spot but I don't know why I'm not complaining. I feel safe at this moment so ill just go with the flow.

I wonder how long will this journey last because even I can't imagine what will destiny take us. I just hope it's a happy ending. I know everybody in this world wants a happy ending, and so do I.

We walked down the road and I can feel the tavern getting near. I guess it's time to do business... when we arrived there I was shocked at what I see. on the other side of the road we saw Jerimiah and Jessica walking towards the tavern.

"What are they doing here?" I said to myself.

"Hey guys, nice to see you here joining us." lux said with his cheerful voice.

"We thought that our funds are getting kinda low so I think it's time to gather some more money!" Jessica said with money in her eyes.

"By the way have you seen blue?" Lux asked.

"I thought he was with you," Jerimiah said.

"Hey, guys! I've been waiting for you here." Blue said while standing at the entrance of the tavern.

"How did you know that we are going here?" I asked him.

"Just a hunch, just a hunch hehe." He scratches the back of his head.

Lux's POV

"If your all here I guess you all look for a quest there and I'll just wait outside for you," I said with a smile.

"Why is that?" Jessica asked.

"Nothing I prefer here outside," I said with a smile.

I'll sneak out of here to get that crystal ball. I know it's too far away but if I run fast enough I think I'll make it. barely.

"Seems suspicious to me." gina said while holding her chin.

"Nope, I'll just stay here like statue hehe." I gave them the genuine smile I could.

"I can sense lies in you," Jessica said with a smirk.

"No, I promise," I said in a straight face.

"Fine, Let's go." Jessica went in with blue, and Jerimiah. "Cleru go with Lux guard him." Her cat immediately teleported right at my shoulder.

"Wow, you became so close overnight huh?" I said with a smirk. "It even has a name now huh?

"It's none of your business!" she said while walking inside.

I look at Gina and she's staring at me with a serious face. "Ummm why?"

"I'm keeping my eye on you..." She walked inside and stops at the entrance and look back at me. "You can't buy the Crystal Ball, period," she said and went in with them.

I sat in defeat. I guess I can't buy it... I'm your leader here btw.... ugh... "I guess I'm stuck with you," I said to Cleru.

"I just want to be here because it's very noisy inside." She said and slept on my shoulder.

I sigh and sat outside the tavern and stared at the blue skies above, this is a great thing to watch if you have nothing to do. I still prefer the starry nights, but I'm okay with this.

"Someones' approaching in our direction." Cleru said while moaning. "it has a weapon and it's running towards us in the fastest phase beside us."

I immediately pull out my sword and am ready to engage. The moment someone pops out of the alleyway I swing my sword but the person dodges it and holds its arm up.

"Easy there Lux," She said.

Her voice sounds familiar but I can't get her name in my head. She stood up and stare in my direction. I can see that she's really tired and exhausted. I wonder where she came from.

She removed her hood and reveal the face of Rachel. she's panting and trying her best to catch her breath. "that's a close one... If I didn't dodge that my head will be rolling down this street hooo!" She wiped her sweat.

"I thought you are an enemy so I didn't hesitate to swing." I said as I put my weapon in its sheath. "didn't expect you coming so I did what I did hehe."

"I ran hastily here so I think I'm also at fault hehe." she said while trying her best to catch her breath. "and why will they even attack you in broad daylight?"

"Oh, yea. Sorry about that hehe." I said I scratch the back of my head.

I couldn't tell her about the cat who told me to get ready. I think it may shock her to death if she knew that it's talking.

She fix herself and stood straight and stare at me. "I have a request from the king and I'm here as his messenger to give this message." She said and handed me a scroll. "I'm not used to this so sorry if it doesn't look

"That's okay." I sat on the bench and opened it. "wow... this message is too long... I'll try reading this then.

Cleru's POV

He stopped at the entrance of that alleyway. If that girl didn't notice that guy it only means one thing. it's underground or the roofs I can't figure out where in the two. the thing is he's not alone I. if my senses are correct there are about four of them waiting they also have incredible abilities so it'll be dangerous for us.

I looked at the entrance of the alleyway and there's a manhole cover there, but I still can't be so sure he is underground. it's a way to conceal yourself underground but it's hard to attack while ate roofs it's hard to hide but easy to attack.

But I'm glad some came up or else we'll be fighting in front of this tavern. He's leaving. I think their plan failed miserably. I stared at the open scroll that lux reading. "hmmm... interesting." I said.
