DXD: The Retired Hero

Reincarnation wasn't new to him. He was once an excited teen, ready to save the world from the demon king, now he was a veteran, a man that had gone through countless wars and came out as a victor, a man that mastered countless forms of battle. Somewhere along the way, saving the world became a chore, so he discarded the sword and took up magic for the next few dozen lifetimes. Magic was there whenever he was sent to another world, his body, on the other hand, needed work, so he made sure to study the magic of every world he visited, Holy, dark, demonic, water, lightning, the list went on. So... Now, this man had one question... Why not retire? Being born as a devil ensured that he lived for a long, long time. And so the vacation of a tired man seeking peace and a little amusement started. ___ I own nothing, just the OC. This will be a stress relief since moving out for college is stupidly complicated.

Chapter 2

I was having the time of my many lives. Why? Because it was the 21 century! Well, it would be in a few years, but that didn't matter. The internet! TV! Games! Hell, a civilization that was past the middle ages!

This was like a blessing from the entities that made sure I would reincarnate over and over.

"See that, Dan-Chan? You like it?"

Velelana Gremory, my mother, asked me as she held up a plushy. I just blinked at it and decided to throw away my pride and grab at it. This was the only thing I could have right now until I grew up.

"Are you two done, dear?"

The voice of Zeoticus, my father in this life, came from behind us.

My mother turned around, bringing her with me since I was still in her arms, and walked closer to him. I just held the plushy of a monkey in my arms.

"Did you pick that one out, little man?"

He crouched slightly, smiling at me and I did the only thing I could do.

"Buh."

I nodded.

I was still keeping the fact that I could talk under the table, as you could say. I was only seven months old, after all.

"That's great. Are you ready to leave?"

I just blinked at his change in tone. He really didn't like the human world, huh? Well, I don't see why he didn't, the air was fresh, there were trees, actual trees with green leaves around, unlike the dead barks that were common in the underworld.

"Yes dear, let's head back."

I decided just then, that I didn't want to save the world. I wanted to retire. So, I would.

As we paid and walked out of the shop, we took a shortcut between two buildings and disappeared in a red magic circle.

"Dan-Chan!"

My brother jumped at the chance to be with me as soon as we arrived, again.

___

"I don't understand."

I said while I was looking over the paperwork my brother was doing. The said man looked over at me with a curious look, as if me not understanding something was new.

"What is it, Dan-Chan?"

I pointed at the papers on his desk, the desk I was sitting on.

"The politics, why do you need it? Aren't you one of the satans?"

Sirzechs chuckled and scooted closer to grab me and put me on his lap. I didn't resist as I waited for the answer.

"Sometimes, I don't understand either, but it's necessary to keep the order."

I hummed for a moment. That was absurd. No wonder they had a war if this is how the devil society was structured. From the ones I faced, they didn't have the problem of in-fighting like this one. There was the Demon king, that ruled over everything, then the generals who had their own territory and troops, and finally the common fodder.

But this one had the 72 pillars, that acted like royalty, going on and on about "Pureblood" propaganda. Then there were the reincarnated devils that were like the commoners and then at the very top were the four Satans, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan, and Asmodeus.

But don't let that fool you, the Beal clan held the most political sway. Zekram Bael was the very first head of the house and holds more sway than the current great four satans.

"Why would the four stronger devils need to concern themselves with politics? Aren't you a deterrent yourselves? Why won't the devils unite under you? There was no reason for the war to happen because of a disagreement."

I pointed out the obvious and I could feel my brother tense behind me since I was sitting on his lap.

"You ask good questions Damian, but that's just how the world works. Anyway, forget about the boring stuff, how is your Power of Destruction coming along?"

I sighed and held up a hand, a black ball with a red outline appearing above it, with just a thought, I made it into a square and then a triangle, and finally a star.

"Ooh, Impressive Dan-Chan! Keep training and one day, you will be as strong as your big brother!"

The grown-ass man gripped my sides and held me up in the air. Fucking hell, dude, act your age for once.

"Teach me something."

Instead of saying what was on my mind, I said what would make him release me from his grasp. And it worked as he put me down on the table and stood up, his grin only growing wider.

He held out his hand and formed a small ball of destruction above his palm. I watched as he gripped it and it turned into a long, thin cylinder in his hand with a curved section acting as a blade on one end.

"So? How is it?"

I just blinked. That wasn't a spell. That was the same thing I did just a second ago.

"It's a scythe?"

He nodded like he was proud of what he just did and I deadpanned.

"Brother, isn't that what I just did a moment ago?"

He blinked, looked at the scythe, and then back at me.

"... No?"

I sighed, this eccentric bastard.

"Okay, brother, it's cool."

I muttered, getting a giant smile in response. What could I do? They were the "Adults", even if I was technically older than them.

Maybe I could start the demonisation process soon, Better start early to reap as much benefits as possible.
