Annihilation Maker

Welcome to another Longinus run down, this time our guest is my personal favourite among all Sacred gears: Annihilation Maker. Without further ado, let's start:

1-Base Form:

> Cao Cao said to him.

> "Leonardo, I'll let you handle the Devils with your monsters."

> Only one request, but the boy remained expressionless and lightly nodded. Instantly, shadows appeared from under his feet and rapidly expanded. ...I felt a sensation as if something cold was crawling on my back. How should I put it, a certain fearfulness could be felt from the shadows. As the shadows grew, they reached the level of covering the entire Togetsukyou. And then, they expanded and gradually took form! Arms, legs, heads, eyeballs, wide gaping jaws, separating. It wasn't only one, but ten, no, hundreds!

> "Guuuu..."

> "Chomp!"

> "Gobble!"

> With a deafening roar, these monsters appeared out of the shadows! ...Shadows with monsters appearing out of them, oh! Rather than appear, perhaps created or 'made' was a better description! These monsters had black skin and were standing upright on two legs. Their bodies were solidly built with rough and thick hides. They also had very sharp claws and bared their teeth. These monsters formed a line and stood in the forefront. ...What was this? The boy's power was...? I couldn't help making swallowing sounds in my throat as I was shocked by the boy's power. Sensei spoke softly at this time.

> "[Annihilation Maker]..."

> Annihilation...? Maker? Maker meant creation...right? Cao Cao laughed in response.

> "Correct, this child carries one of the Longinus. A different threat compared to my True Longinus, but a most deadly Sacred Gear nonetheless."--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

So to start with, we have Annihilation Maker, also known as the Demonic Beast Creation, is ranked 3rd among the Longinus and is the ultimate Creation-type sacred gear.

It allows its wielder to create all kind of "Creatures", whatever their imagination wishes the creature to be. Its main catch however is that the stronger or more "complicated" the "creature" or its "powers" are, the more "fuel" required to actually manifest these monsters.

In this situation, "Knowledge" can act as a shortcut, the better you can visualise and understand what you want to create, the less "fuel" required.

Now of course, the Longinus have a fairly obvious weakness:

> "Sensei, what weaknesses do these deadly Sacred Gears have?"

> If Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing have weaknesses, then surely...?

> "Target the user's body. Of course, there are also cases where the body is extremely strong, but it still doesn't compare to the threat of the Sacred Gear. The current Annihilation Maker user is still in a developing phase. If he had already mastered it, then they would have been sending demonic beast armies to every faction by now. The only way to defeat him is to take him out now before he matures."--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

Now I'm not sure about this one clearly. But if I got the idea right, he isn't implying that the monsters will die once the wielder is taken down. Its more like the fact that the Longinus just doesn't enchante the wielder body.

Now aside from this, let's see some examples of monsters created by this Sacred gear and their stats, which sadly aren't that many:

> Cao Cao laughed wryly as he heard Sensei's words.

> "Arara, it feels like Annihilation Maker has been figured out. It is as you say, Governor of the Fallen Angels. This child still has not matured his imagination or productivity—except that he has focused on one specialty; monsters that target the opponents' weaknesses, the antimonsters. The current demonic beasts are ones which counter Devils."

> Cao Cao pointed his finger at a shop in the area. A monster opened its mouth—

> Bzzzzzt!

> A beam of light appeared. And in that instant—

> Boom...!

> The shop was blown away by an intense explosion!

> "An attack of light! This fellow is...!"--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

As we can see, Leonardo's speciality is Anti-monster, monster that target all kind of beings' weaknesses. I'm not sure just how much can he apply that, but theoretically he can create Anti-Fallen monsters that use Holy attacks, Anti-Dragon monsters that can the Dragon slayer element, and maybe even Anti-God monsters, that use God Slaying element, but the last one is very unlikely.

> "Cao Cao, you bastard! You sent assassins to all the major factions to collect data for the antimonsters!"

> "You are half-correct. Weren't there black-clad members among the Sacred Gear users we sent out?"

> Yes! Those black combatants! Those hated things which dispersed into mist when hit!

> "Those are also monsters created by this child. These things deliberately took on the attacks from the various factions of Angels, Fallen Angels, Devils, Dragons and Gods from all mythologies. Though they were wiped out, they gathered plenty of good data for this child's Sacred Gear."

> "Those strange black men were for collecting data!"--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

We have here these "Data Collection" monsters, they serve as the main investigation tool for Leonardo to interact with the race he wants to counter and feel their energies.

As he is now though, Leonardo is probably on the weaker side of Annihilation Maker. But even then his output is quite decent:

> "Not only did the number of Balance Breaker users increase, but the development of the antimonsters also advanced. Thanks to that, antimonsters targeting Devils, Angels and Dragons have been created. At maximum output, the current anti-Devil antimonsters can produce light equivalent to that of a Mid-class Angel."--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

As we can, he can basically mass produce Monsters of Mid-class Angel power level output, though if they are durable or flexible as said Angels we don't know.

Of course, there are way more stronger monsters possible that can be created. The ones that can rival gods are classified as Titan-class:

> "But Cao Cao, that means you have yet to create God-killing beasts."

> "..."

> Cao Cao did not deny Sensei's words.

> "How did you figure it out?"

> Sensei replied to me in a tired voice.

> "If they could, they would have already done so. And then they would have used them on us as well. There is no reason they wouldn't attempt it if they have the resources to launch simultaneous attacks at the different factions. And who knows how the world would change if Gods from various mythologies were killed. To this point in time, they still cannot create God-killing demonic beasts. Though this is all we know, it is still important news."--Volume 9, Life 3, Part 5.

Of course, the Longinus can also destroy countries very quickly:

> Similarly, the Annihilation Maker that was owned by Leonardo of the Hero Faction could produce a large number of giant monsters in extreme cases. A small country would just be trampled over in mere hours.--Volume Shin 1, Life 3, Part 3.

2-Balance Breaker:

> Shalba activated an ominous small magic-circle within his hand and put that closer to the boy called Leonardo. Then the devil letters within the magic-circle moved fast! Then the boy screamed!

> "Uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

> Screaming out loud, he had a painful expression. At the same time, his shadow expanded so much that it covered the whole field! …..What was Shalba trying to do!? Shalba flew up from where he was and then laughed out loudly!

> "Fuhahahahahaha! [Annihilation Maker] is a very splendid and idealistic ability! And people say that he specialises in creating anti-monsters! Checking the movements of the Hero-faction, I kidnapped him when he was on a mission with another group from the Hero-faction! Now then! I will have him create it! A monster that can eliminate the current devils of the world!"

> ZUOOOOON!

> Something was created from the boy's shadow. A head of something huge was appearing out of it, making lots of huge waves in the shadow!

> …..A head that was too big! A torso that was too large! Arms that were too thick! And overwhelming legs to support the body! The thing created from the shadows of the boy that covers the whole field was…..

> [GOGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!]

> A very gigantic monster, it made a very loud roar that felt like it would destroy my eardrums! …..Huge! It was two heads bigger than Great Red! A monster about 200 meters tall! An outrageous and huge monster was created!--Volume 11, Life 4, Part 2.

This here is the one and only activation of Annihilation Maker's Balance-Breaker. Now do keep in mind that this is a "Forced" Balance Breaker, so it's not as powerful as the real thing. With that in mind, let's see what a Nerfed Balance Breaker was able to do:

> In total, there are thirteen monsters created by [Annihilation Maker]. These monsters easily exceed the 100 metres mark in size. Each one of them is about 150 metres large. The television is broadcasting about all of them. By the looks of it, we can know about the current status of each of the monsters from the broadcast.

> When we saw them in the artificial dimension, they were a bunch of humanoid shaped monsters covered in a black aura. Perhaps their forms changed when they appeared in the Underworld. But if there are humanoid types, there are also four-legged beast types as well. In terms of appearance, none of them resembles each other. Although the humanoid types are four-legged, their heads look like either an aquatic creature or have one eye or have four arms. If I had to describe them in one word, they looked like…Chimeras. Also, these four-legged monsters are made up of parts of different creatures as well.

> Among those gigantic monsters, there is one that is way larger than the others, which is heading towards the capital city in the Maou territory, Lilith. That monster is something beyond our imagination. It is a humanoid type and has a size much larger than the other gigantic monsters. I can actually understand the immense size of that thing even through the television.--Volume 12, Life -3, Part 1.

So, the forced balance breaker created these 13 monsters, 12 of which are all 150 meters and above, and one stands above even 200 meters. As for their names, we have:

> The government of the Underworld has named the monster which is far bigger than the others "Jabberwocky". The rest of the twelve gigantic monsters have been named "Bandersnatch". These monsters have been named by Azazel-sensei, who has named them after the names of the creatures from Lewis Carroll's work.--Volume 22, Life -3, Part 1.

So, besides the fancy names, Jabberwocky is just an upgraded Bandersnatch, so we'll be going over their shared natures, and then their differences in ability scales. Let's go first with the shared abilities:

--Monster Mass Production:

> The most troublesome fact about them is that they are creating smaller monsters by themselves as they're making their way towards their destinations. The body parts of these gigantic monsters are swelling up and lots of smaller monsters are coming out from those body parts by ripping their flesh off. These smaller monsters have the size of humans compared to those gigantic monsters, but there are just too many of these smaller monsters.

> Dozens to hundreds of these smaller monsters are being created at one time. They're destroying the forests, mountains and landscapes they're passing through, and are also devouring the animals that live there.--Volume 12, Life -3, Part 1.

Have you ever had the ability to create monsters and thought to yourself: Do I have to do it myself? Well, Leonardo, who I'm pretty sure is based on Leonardo Da Vinci, certainly did, so he decided to say fuck it, and create monsters that can create monsters on their own. And here we go, mass produced monsters, by the hundreds, are being created one at a time, and if we scale them to Leonardo's average? They are all atleast Mid-class level.

--Resistence to Demonic Powers and Space-Time Magic:

> Other pursuit squads had attempted to freeze the gigantic monsters, forcibly teleporting them, or creating a huge hole to seal their movements. But all of them ended in failure. I received information that demonic powers and magic relating to transport by force, space and time won't work on them--Volune 12, Life -3, Part 2.

As we can see, the monsters were created with a resistance towards Demonic Powers, like pillar bloodline abilities, and space-time magic, so no force teleportation or trying to freeze them in time.

This here gives an interesting outlook towards what attributes can be given to the created monsters. Not only can you make creatures that can use certain abilities, you can also make the monsters resistant towards them. So that's a good detail to remember.

Now, to the abilities that are similar but on different scales:

--Regeneration and Durability:

☆Bandersnatch:

> In the television, the warriors of the Underworld have begun counter-attacking the Bandersnatch. Spreading their wings, they're either going head-on or coming from the sides or coming from the back while attacking them with a barrage of fire blasts created by demonic power at the same time. They're also shooting demonic power that filled the whole area towards the monsters as well. The attacking units all consist of Ultimate-class Devils and their servants. Normal monsters would absolutely perish after receiving such attacks. But…..

> [How can this be!? The attacks of the Ultimate-class Devils and their teams aren't working!]

> I can hear the voice of the reporter who is frightened by the turn of events. Right. What we're being shown on television is that the monsters are completely unaffected by the attacks of the Ultimate-class Devils and their servants.

> …It's just like back when we were in the artificial dimension. Our attacks only damaged their skin. We weren't able to damage them critically. The attacking units that have been dispatched all consists of Ultimate-class Devils who are at the top of the Rating Game rankings. But still, they haven't been able to cause any kind of effective or critical damage. It is also because they have their hands full with the smaller monsters that are being created by those gigantic monsters as well… Even so, these gigantic monsters have very hard bodies.

> For all of these gigantic monsters, squads have been dispatched by the factions that are allied with the Devils such as the Fallen Angels, the Brave Saints that have been sent from Heaven, the Valkyrie squads, consisting of battle maidens, that have been sent by Valhalla, and large numbers of warriors sent by the Greek faction. Thanks to that, the worst case scenario has been avoided--Volume 12, Life-3, Part 1.

☆Jabberwocky:

> One of those problems is Jabberwocky, which is way more powerful than those twelve Bandersnatch.

> Last night, the attacking unit led by Diehauser Belial was dispatched. Although they were able to cause damage to Jabberwocky, they could only stall its movements for a few seconds. Jabberwocky regenerated and healed itself very quickly from the damage it sustained, and then resumed its journey as if nothing had happened.--Volume 12, Life -3, Part 1.

Looking at this, and looking at Trihexia, something becomes clear in DxD world, its that regeneration is a busted ability in this world, as there basically next to no Anti-Regeneration abilities.

But anyways, see any feat done by Bandersnatch? Just multiply it by 3 to 4 times and you have Jabberwocky's.

Despite all their powers, the monsters did get eventually fucked up by the defenders as Ajuka was able to develop and share a technique that basically cancelled their special powers:

> Several hours have passed since Ajuka Beelzebub-sama developed the method of taking down the monsters, and the battles are starting to overturn. Anti-monsters that were created to be very hard. Ajuka Beelzebub-sama and his servants created magic-circle technique problems that work on the monsters and they told the people in the alliance who are fighting on the front lines.

> ".....Ajuka-sama started creating the techniques when the monsters first appeared while being in contact with Falbium Asmodeus-sama. I heard that he completed making it when we went to visit him in the human world."

> Buchou says that while watching the screen.

> From the information I received, Falbium Asmodeus-sama is in charge of the battle strategy. Thanks to the two Maou's who used their intellects, all of the Bandersnatch are now stalled and receiving damage.--Volume 12, Life -1, Part 1.

So with a combination of too much firepower, a lot of man power, best troops management by Fablium and the Magic technique developed by Ajuka to cancel some of the monster's powers, they were finally able to start inflicting lasting damage on the Bandersnatch.

We have the following teams against one Bandersnatch each:

●Serfall Leviathen, who froze half of the monster alone, and was stalling it until Ajuka's technique arrived.

●Tanin and his Dragon servants/army were also fighting one of the Bandersnatch.

●Yasaka, Kunou and an army of of Yōkai were also stalling one of the Bandersnatch until they received the counter spell for it.

●Diehauser Belial, his peerage and an army of Devils who failed the initial attack against the Jabberwocky, went to fight a Bandersnatch and were the first to finish one of them off.

As for Jabberwocky, it got a different special group:

●Sirzechs' entire peerage were the ones sent to stall it:

> That's because the irregular gigantic monster, Jabberwocky, is drawing near. If it arrives, the capital will receive a very devastating blow and the capital would become dead. If the capital goes down, there is no doubt that other areas throughout the Underworld would also be affected. Right now the Lucifer group, Grayfia-sama and Sirzechs-sama's other servants, are taking Jabberwocky on. It is the group that is said to be the strongest among all Devils. Right now they are evenly matched, and even though they aren't causing any critical damage to Jabberwocky, they are still succeeding in stalling it--Volume 12, Life -1, Part 2.

Now, some of you might be wondering, why didn't the Higher ups do something? Well that's funny, because they have 2 reasons:

-Sirzechs, Azazel, Tobio and Dulio were confronting Haded at this time, so they can't help.

-For the Gods and Maous, they have the following reason:

> The reason why the Gods and Maou-sama can't go and take care of these monsters by themselves is that we don't know where Cao Cao would be targeting them from. That spear has the power to easily eliminate the Gods and Maou. If even a single God or Maou was to be killed, we don't know what'll happen to the balance of each of the factions. Also, we don't even know when Hades will send his Grim Reapers as well...--Volume 12, Life -3, Part 1.

If you had paid any amount of attention to the previous True Longinus rant, you'd understand that this isn't an empty threat, as Cao Cao can very much just sneak up upon any of these Beings with the help of George's Dimension Lost, and then proceed to murder them with a sneak attack.

But ignoring that, I would like you all to just look at the line up above, just take a moment to understand the sheer scale of the forces deployed. From Heaven, Fallen, Devils, Yōkai, Norse, Greek , etc..

All just to stall the result of a forced Balance Breaker of Annihilation Maker.

See, when we were introduced to the Top Longinus, we were told that they have the potential to destroy the world. But that's just that, empty talk about potential, we never saw any of them actually being used on a scale that truly showed they can destroy the world. All except Annihilation Maker.

I can understand why the author simply choose to never ever show the Longinus again, as it simply takes the premise and breaks its back upon its knee.

If Leonardo used his Balance Breaker against Rivezim's Evil Dragon army? Trihexia's evil Scale Mail army? They simply wouldn't be a problem anymore, an army against an army. Regeneration monsters against Regeneration monsters, no losses required on the heroes side and would Free a lot of man power.

But that's just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of Salt.

Anyways, with this we reach the end of this rant with Annihilation Maker pretty much confirming why it is the 3rd strongest Longinus, and why they are said to be World Destroyers.
