Chapter [33]

"You will obey me, after all, you are my servant," Rias said, her voice firm and authoritative.

At that moment, a soft and familiar voice echoed in Kaito's mind, bringing a wave of confusing emotions.

"Didn't you think that's what our mother sacrificed herself for, Kaito?"

The phrase seemed to reverberate in his mind, bringing back memories of past times and sacrifices made. In a split second, Kaito found himself in a dreamlike space, a projection of his own mind.

"Who are you?" Kaito asked, trying to understand the origin of that voice.

"I am you, only better," said the figure, its voice echoing softly in the void.

Kaito observed the figure before him, trying to understand what was happening. The figure seemed like a darker, more confident version of himself, with translucent wings and a serene yet determined expression. It was as if he was looking at a distorted reflection of his own insecurities and repressed desires.

"Why are you here? What do you want from me?" Kaito asked, trying to remain calm despite the confusion and turmoil of emotions within him.

The dark figure took a step forward, its translucent wings fluttering slightly. Its gaze was piercing and filled with a disturbing calm.

"What could I want from you? A weakling who died to a fallen angel and became a slave to a Devil? A human full of insecurities who spent his life being deceived?"

The words of the dark figure struck Kaito like a sharp blade, cutting deeply into his insecurities and deepest fears. He felt a mix of anger, sadness, and doubt growing within him, like a whirlwind of emotions threatening to consume him.

"You are a disgrace to our mother," continued the dark figure, its voice full of disdain and judgment. "She sacrificed herself to give you a chance, and all you did was become a slave, blindly obeying the orders of a Devil."

Kaito felt each word like a blow to his soul. The pain and guilt were growing, but along with them came a rising anger. "I am not a disgrace," he murmured, almost to himself, trying to find strength in the depths of his own conviction.

The figure smiled cruelly. "Do you think being obedient to Rias Gremory will honor our mother's sacrifice? Do you think following orders without question is what she wanted for you?"

Kaito clenched his fists, his determination beginning to crystallize. "I did what I had to do to survive," he said, his voice gaining strength. "But I will not allow anyone, not even a distorted version of myself, to tell me I'm wrong for wanting to protect someone."

The dark figure took a step forward, its translucent wings shining with a sinister light. "You are weak, Kaito. You always have been. But perhaps, just perhaps, there is a spark of strength within you. If you want to prove you're not a disgrace, then fight."

"I became a servant," said Kaito, his voice trembling slightly. "What more can I do? I am bound by Rias's orders."

The dark figure tilted its head slightly, an enigmatic smile forming on its lips. "Our father was human. Our mother, a fairy. What does that make us?"

Kaito frowned, trying to understand the point the figure was trying to make. "A half-human, half-fairy," he replied, almost reflexively.

"Exactly," said the figure, its wings fluttering slightly. "But hybrids like us only awaken the fairy power at 16. And we are just two days away from turning 16."

"Where are you going with this?" Kaito asked, his voice filled with frustration.

"You still don't understand?" the dark figure responded, with a slightly impatient tone. "Our potential is about to be revealed. The fairy power in our blood will awaken soon, and when that happens, you will have the strength to not only follow orders but also make your own choices."

Kaito felt a chill run down his spine at these words. He had always known there was something different inside him, but he had never fully understood what it was. The idea of awakening a new power, something that could give him more control over his own destiny, was both exciting and terrifying.

"But how will this help me now?" Kaito asked, trying to remain calm. "Asia is in danger now; I can't wait two days."

The dark figure began to laugh, a deep and echoing sound that reverberated through the dreamlike space. The laugh carried a tone of irony and disdain, making Kaito feel even more confused and anxious.

"Simple," said the figure, its laugh fading into an enigmatic smile. "Just release me."

Kaito frowned, trying to understand. "Release you? How will that help?"

The dark figure took a step forward, its translucent wings fluttering slightly. "Our power, the true potential within us, is about to awaken. But for that to happen, you need to accept me and release me. The Evil Pieces have a limit, and that limit depends on the strength of the king, in this case, Rias."

Kaito remained confused, but the dark figure continued. "Our transformation into a fairy will be much stronger than she can control. By releasing me, you will be unlocking that power. Not only will you be able to save Asia, but you will also free yourself from the chains Rias imposed."

"But how do I do that?" Kaito asked, still trying to process all the information.

The dark figure smiled, a gleam of determination in its eyes. "Accept me. Accept that I am part of you. Embrace the power within us and allow it to manifest. When you do that, our limitations imposed by the Evil Pieces will disappear, and our true potential will be revealed."

Kaito took a deep breath, feeling the intensity of the moment. He knew he was facing a crucial choice. Releasing this part of himself could be the key to saving Asia and, at the same time, gaining his own freedom.

"Alright," Kaito finally said, his voice firm. "I accept."

The dark figure smiled, its wings shining intensely. "Then let's begin."

Light enveloped Kaito, a sensation of power and freedom taking over him. He knew his life was about to change drastically, and he was ready to face whatever came next.
