[The method to leave is to steal someone's fate.]
Ryujin immediately replied, "What do you mean by that?"
[It is exactly what you think, You will have to steal someone's fate of reincarnation with memories. Stealing that person's fate would allow you to take his/her place.]
After thinking for a while Ryujin accepted it. So what if he stole someone's fate for himself? Humans were selfish by nature. Though he felt a little bit guilty he could handle it.
Maybe the person he's stealing from might be bad. This train of thought lowered his guilt. He was after all a normal person who grew with morals in a normal household.
He wasn't some kind of saint who would help people for no benefits, he might even help others if it wouldn't waste too much of his time but he wasn't cruel enough to personally kill someone for his benefit...yet.
As for stealing someone's fate, the person he was stealing from was already dead so it didn't matter much.
"How do I steal someone's fate?"
[I'll explain the simple part first. I'll give you a method to differentiate between souls. The soul you have to target is one with a hidden purple light. You should've seen the souls gather into a line. Your goal is to be exactly behind the one with the purple shine.]
Ryujin didn't interrupt 'It'.
[The complicated part is a battle that you have to fight and succeed. As soon as the blessed soul passes through the Door Of Life you have to attach yourself to him. Since you are rejected by The Door Of Life you can use the Blessed Soul to escape.]
[As soon as both of you pass through The Door Of Life you have to devour the blessed soul or else you'll lose your sanity and become crazy. The fusion of two souls has never been successful and never will be due to a certain entity's created laws. So either you devour the blessed soul or it devours you.]
Ryujin took a minute to digest the information he just got. Devouring someone's soul was in a sense killing them but if he had to choose between himself and someone else then the answer was obvious.
'So the portal is called 'The Door Of Life', a fitting name I guess. Are these blessed souls essentially protagonists? And my goal is to devour a protagonist.' Ryujin knew how tenacious protagonists were but something as great as a new life couldn't be achieved for free.
'Besides those stupid protagonists of course.' Feeling a pang of jealousy, Ryujin reigned in his thoughts. He didn't want his emotions to go out of control.
Soon he thought of another problem, "What if there are no 'Blessed One's?"
"..."
But he didn't get a response in return, only the method to differentiate between souls.
It was an incantation.
['In the name of ¶¥¶∆€, allow me to differentiate between souls of the regular and the blessed.']
Looking at it his non-existent mouth twitched, "How am I supposed to say something that I can't even read?"
[That 'Name' will come out of your thoughts on its own you don't have to worry about it.]
"Okay"
But Ryujin didn't chant the incantation. He pondered for a bit before speaking up again, "How do I know this incantation isn't harmful to me? I know I'm not someone worthy in your eyes, an existence equal to that of ant but you can sense the amulet I have, Whatever you might try will be repelled by it." He wasn't confident about what he was saying.
He paused and seeing that he got no response he continued,
"No matter what you should consider this opportunity carefully who knows how long it would take for another soul like me to appear. If the incantation turns out false I would rather place my hopes on the amulet instead of you."
As soon as he finished and nervously waited for a response he heard a sigh.
[Consider yourself lucky that you passed the test. If you had lacked even such basic common self-preservation skill then no one could've saved you and I would have to take some drastic measures to ensure my escape.]
Ryujin felt his months of wastin- reading novels had finally shown their use.
[The incantation isn't false though.]
'Huh?'
[The incantation is real but you don't need to chant the 'Name' that you couldn't read. As long as you chant it I will directly provide you the energy to distinguish between souls.]
Ryujin was left dumbfounded, "What would've happened if I chanted the 'Name'?"
[Haha... A seed would've been planted inside your soul. The more you grew in strength the more it would've awakened and you would slowly gain my memories.
You wouldn't even suspect anything, thinking of the seed as your 'cheat'.
But the moment you fully awakened the seed, your memories would be wiped out and my memories would've taken their place. Then you would essentially become me. After that I would come and save myself.]
Ryujin felt himself shudder hearing 'It's' plans.
[But now that you've discovered it I can only help you with the real incantation and unfortunately rely on you for my escape. It isn't your amulet that is special, it's the 'will' inside it that makes me apprehensive.
If I directly take over your soul, That entity would be able to sense it and essentially cause me to fail or even worse. ]
Ryujin could only silently accept the information he got.
He hurriedly left. The more he stayed there the more uncomfortable he felt.
Arriving back to where he originally was he observed the empty space and thought back to his conversation with 'It'.
'So someone made the amulet special. Where did I even get the amulet? I can't even remember properly. Is it deliberately stopping me from getting to know who I got it from?'
'Phew, Time to find the protagonist. I hope there is one. The amulet might break if it shields me one more time. What would stop 'It' from harming me then?'
Ryujin slowly chanted the incantation as soon as he saw the souls gather around slowly.
The moment he finished chanting he felt some kind of energy seep into him and his vision turned blurry. After a moment his vision turned normal but he saw that it was no different from before.
'Did it fail?'
Shrugging he started searching for the blessed one.
Soon he saw a soul with a purple shine in it. It was radiating regret and unwillingness.
