Police cars surrounded a rundown old building that was near the border between the east and north forest that shrouded Acoustic City.
The building was shaped like a castle; its structure was crumbled up, showing signs of many beast tides attacking it.
From what was left, it looked more like it was built before modern civilization. Its walls were made out of dark bricks, which now had moss growing out of them.
The windows were all hollow, producing an eerie sound that caused the police to hesitate to go in.
Kang Yimo, who was the leader of this operation, had a fierce look in her eyes as she looked at one of her subordinates.
"Chi Di, are you sure that this is the correct location? The building could just crumble down from a slight mistake, you know?"
Chi Di, who was the youngest among the people gathered, had a confident look, which did not fit his pretty boy face.
He nodded his small head, and Mo Xie's hand fluttered weakly to his shoulder, her eyes reflecting the pain she was in.
"Thank you, young investigator. If this all works out, I'd like to invite you to a cup of tea, sometime."
Kang Yimo turned to look at this shameless conglomerate who was trying to steal her teammate with cold eyes that seemed to say.
'He is not going anywhere!'
Haa...
The investigator let out a cold sigh. She quickly understood that Mo Xie was a victim, and until her son was found, she needed to be treated delicately.
She tapped her earpiece to connect to the officers that had surrounded the wrecked house before them, "Is everyone in their assigned positions?"
— "Yes, ma'am!"
The police members replied with vigor in their voices, and Kang Yimo quickly sent out her next order.
"Attack! Make sure to bring the hostage safe and sound!"
The moment those words faded, the SWAT division rushed into the building with their guns in their hands.
Mo Xie wanted to follow the SWAT team, but Kang Yimo quickly took hold of her shoulder, stopping her from doing anything stupid.
"I appreciate it, but please let us do our jobs."
Mo Xie's words caught in her throat, and she clenched her fist in frustration. "Tsk."
Just then, Chi Di's glasses slipped from his face as his body began to shudder violently.
"Boss! Stop the attack! It is a trap! That house is going to collapse! It is shaking from every movement inside!"
Boom—!
Before Kang Yimo could process what the youngest was saying, the building collapsed, killing all of her team members!
"No!!" She cried out, her face turning pale like a sheet of paper.
Yet, time didn't turn back for her to save her teammates... nor did she suddenly wake up from a dream.
Tu! Tutudu—!
Just then, Mo Xie's trouser pocket began to vibrate, and she swiftly retrieved her phone.
For a few fleeting seconds, Mo Xie was rendered speechless... her mind consumed by the haunting image of Mo Bing being crushed.
But hearing the phone call, she came to life.
'Now I am sure, there is no way my son was in that building!'
She swallowed her emotions and answered.
"Hello, is my son okay?!"
From behind the phone, Mo Bing was the one to answer, his voice sinking into greater despair.
"Mom, please save me!! He is hurting me! Please make it stop!"
Mo Xie clenched her fist, and her face contorted to the point she almost resembled tree barks.
'If I find this guy! I will make him regret laying his dirty hands on my son!'
Mo Xie was an overprotective mother, and she had made sure her son wouldn't associate himself with low lives.
This fact was well known by Mickey, who had now taken control of the phone by silencing Mo Bing with a punch.
— "It seems you're not taking this seriously. The example I provided should serve as a warning. Hehehe. Since you chose not to trust me, the price has increased to 90 million essence coins. You have three hours to comply. I will send you a message with three locations where you will deposit 30 million essence coins each."
Mickey was a pseudo-computer engineer, when he wasn't doing his job, he made sure to increase his knowledge on it.
Changing the location of his calls was one of the things he learned. The location he had set was of one of the oldest, if not the oldest, buildings in the world.
{The Tale of Xiao Ting, Chapter 2, Part 1.}
The couple were happy to know about the existence of vampires, and as they lived with them, they noticed one small thing.
There were almost zero young vampires at all!
Thanks to her eloquent voice that soothed the heart of the vampires, Xiao Ting decided to ask Drake a question as she pretended to be drunk.
"Burp, how can you call yourselves a race when you guys don't have kids? In all my stay here, I never ran into even a single young vampire."
Drake cast a glance at the defenseless beauty resting on the lawn with her zither, and he couldn't help but swallow his saliva in lust.
'O Zhang Wei, thou art a fortunate man indeed! Whence didst thou find thyself a helpmeet, so fair and radiant as thy wife?'
Drake just sighed at his curiosity; he had made a contract to never hurt the couple.
Drake looked over to the full moon, and just took Xiao Ting as a drunk person,
"We vampires are blessed with a longevity, that far surpasseth that of other creatures."
"Really?!" Xiao Ting exclaimed, almost selling the fact that she was acting drunk,
"Is that why you don't have kids?!"
Drake shook his head and made a mental note to not gaze at the woman beside him. How can she not mind the walls between genders?!
Drake cleared his throat.
"Behold, this matter is a sacred trust, and I implore thee, keep it hidden from all men, yea, even from thy own husband."
"..."
Drake took the silence as a yes.
"Verily, we vampires, do bear the fruit of our loins, for a span of a hundred years."
"Yea, in the southeast of this fair settlement, there existeth a building, wherein the young vampires do dwell. And lo, they shall remain therein, until such time as they attain the world realm."
"That is the edifice wherein the young vampires didst dwell, was crafted by the hands of our forefathers. Yea, verily, 'twas ordained that the said building shouldst crumble and fall, if more than twenty souls didst enter therein. Furthermore, those endowed with higher realms shouldst not be suffered to tread upon that hallowed ground."
