"The Purple Army! The pride of the Empire, my pride! It is time for you to show this winged lizard what it means to fight against Fate!"
While the swarm of purple spirits marched toward the enemy dragon, the sky was covered in countless silver swords and spears, blocking the Sun's light. A simple command from Old Dragon would be enough to unleash hell on the battlefield.
This was the power of a metal dragon. Only metal dragons could control metals to fight, and the most skilled could even turn their bodies into metal, gaining an absolute defense as well as a high attack power.
Metal dragons were uncommon, but less rare than humans with a metal affinity, as they held one of the strongest combat powers of the dragon society. Each one of them was a valuable asset for the dragon clans.
The Old Dragon descended from a long lineage of metal dragons, a result of political marriages between dragons who possessed the metal affinity.
This still made it possible for dragons with other affinities to be born, but when this happened, they would be given to another family to be properly cared for.
Being a part of an old lineage of metal dragons, his family possessed a large number of metal spells. The spell he had just cast was called 'Heavy Rain', and as the name implied, it caused a rain of metallic weapons to fall, resulting in a rain of heavy but sharp metal.
The Old Dragon stood in the sky, using his mana to keep the weapons in the air, while the swarm got closer by the second. He was trying to locate the Impaler of Gods, but there were too many enemies. It was impossible for him to find her.
When the purple spirits got too close, the Old Dragon's silver domain activated. A brighter silver light appeared in the silver area around him and created several Silver Claws from thin air, ripping the unlucky ones who had entered to shreds.
Nonetheless, as more and more purple spirits stepped into his domain, the silver area began to lose some of its luster. He was beginning to have difficulties maintaining so many spells and his domain at the same time, but he was waiting for this moment.
"Finally, you have come close enough." At this, the Old Dragon released his Heavy Rain spell, turning the entire sky in the silver color. "The damage would have been significantly less if it had not been for all of you charging at me."
As his thunderous voice fell, the entire battlefield descended into chaos. The purple swarm collapsed, their spirit bodies pierced by the silver rain of weapons.
Oddly enough, their bodies did not disappear. Instead, they were lying in the ground, parts of their spirit bodies crushed by the Heavy Rain. It was as if they were real human bodies rather than spirits, which would be impossible.
This scene, however, was repeated across the entire battlefield over the next few seconds, until the Old Dragon could detect no further movement from them. The purple swarm, which was about to consume him a short time ago, was now dead and lying on the ground.
"How dare you?! How dare you kill the spirits of those who had already died?!" A loud rumble echoed, and in the middle of the sky appeared a hole, from which the Empress emerged. The Empress saw her army of spirits crushed beneath heavy swords and large spears as she looked out over the battleground.
"I see… The research on the silver element being the nemesis of the undead was right." She noticed right away that the conjured weapons, which were made of iron, glowed with a faint silver light gleaming in them.
It was the silver sub affinity of metal magic. As a magical spearman herself, she was well aware of sub affinities. When a magic user attained a high level in their natural affinity, they would gain a sub affinity, which was based on the user's personality.
"It seems that I had underestimated you, Elder Dragon. Since reviving my old comrades was not enough to kill you, I will do it myself. I, Ella, the Impaler of Gods, shall avenge the spirits of my comrades. But do not worry, as I will give you a quick death."
The Old Dragon's head turned white at her words, and he immediately increased the power of his domain to its maximum potency. The domain did not grow in size, but it began to shine so brightly that onlookers mistook it for the Sun.
Naturally, the more mana invested into a domain, the greater its size and might, but the Old Dragon did not need the domain to attack. All he needed to do was defend himself against whatever the Empress threw at him.
Therefore, expanding the size was a stupid idea. Only newbies at domain's mastery would do something like that. Increasing the mana used in the domain while not affecting its size provided the domain with twice the power.
In a battle between opponents with equal technique, a tiny amount of difference in power could make a big difference. Being able to double your power could give you a sure-win in every fight. Or, at the very least, if the opponent was on your same level.
However, the Old Dragon was at a disadvantage this time, as the Impaler of Gods in her prime was said to be capable of killing Gods. Him using more power would only postpone the inevitable.
And, as if she could read his mind, the Empress suddenly moved her feet, gaining an inhuman speed as she charged toward the silver dragon. In less than a second, she appeared in front of the Old Dragon.
If one could see them at this moment, they would see a massive silver dragon in front of a tiny woman, and would pray to the Gods for the beautiful lady to get rescued, or at the very least, a quick death so she would not suffer too much.
Fortunately, there were no humans present, because if there had been, they would have surely prayed for her, and the Gods would have killed all of their families as a result. After all, they were the ones who had descended to Earth eons ago to kill that b*tch!
The only onlooker was a white dragon, who stood a few hundred meters away, watching the fight. Although in reality, he looked more like an albino lizard that had taken hormones. A baby dragon and a lizard had very few differences.
After the Old Dragon blinked, he found the Impaler of Gods in front of him, drawing her elbow back. She had moved and was launching an attack in less than one second!
He did not have time to open his eyes wide in surprise, or even to notice that the silver domain which had been surrounding him until a second ago had vanished completely with no trace, as the human woman threw a punch to him.
"Wait!"

Yesterday there wasn't chapter because my neighbors decided to play music at high volume, making me too tired to even be a functioning human.
