Saving Lives

"Look at this." Zuzong pointed to his own eyes.

As he spoke, Zuzong's eyes slightly closed and then reopened, revealing blood-red pupils with three tomoe spinning counterclockwise.

Dianqing, not understanding what was happening, instinctively stared into Zuzong's eyes, and the two locked gazes.

"Illusion —Sharingan."

With the activation of Zuzong's illusion, memories that didn't originally belong to Dianqing suddenly flooded his mind. These included Wei Yong using his daughter, Wei Xianxian, and their child to threaten Xuan Jian into eliminating his political opponents, Dianqing's master's death, Wei Yong's deal with Yan Ri, and more. Zuzong passed all these memories from his past life to Dianqing.

In the illusion, Dianqing felt as though he had experienced days and nights, yet in reality, only a second had passed.

"This is—" Dianqing gasped in shock. Everything he had just witnessed in the illusion was simply too outrageous. He never expected that the seemingly loyal and powerful Grand Sima of Wei, Wei Yong, was in fact a sinister and treacherous man. Because Xuan Jian had fallen in love with his daughter, Wei Xianxian, Wei Yong forced him to eliminate any political opponents who disagreed with him.

Zuzong smiled faintly and said, "Whether it's true or false, you'll have to decide for yourself."

Meanwhile, Wei Yong couldn't hold back any longer. Though Zuzong had only exchanged a few words and hadn't revealed him as the culprit, Dianqing's reaction clearly indicated that he had learned something.

Grinding his teeth, Wei Yong shouted, "Release the arrows! Kill these criminals!"

With Wei Yong's command, a storm of arrows was launched from the city walls, raining down upon Zuzong, Wei Xianxian, and Xuan Jian.

Wei Xianxian immediately shielded the injured Xuan Jian. Zuzong couldn't help but admire her devotion—true love indeed!

Zuzong slowly raised his right hand. "Blue Silver Emperor—Activate."

In the next instant, a deep blue light surged forth as a cluster of Blue Silver Emperor vines sprouted from his palm. Each blade of grass was as thick as a child's arm, covered in intricate patterns.

Milky white light emanated from Zuzong's body, causing the Blue Silver Emperor vines to suddenly expand. In the blink of an eye, they became as thick as a bowl, resembling large tendrils, adorned with black scales. The peculiar patterns shimmered faintly, and the vines coiled around Zuzong's body like dozens of serpents.

In moments, Zuzong, Xuan Jian, and Wei Xianxian were tightly encased within the vines. As for Dianqing, Zuzong ignored him—after all, Dianqing had his own protective skills, and there was no telling what he might do if he felt cornered.

The arrows struck the Blue Silver Emperor barrier, sparking violently against the black scales. The arrows either snapped, shattered, or ricocheted off, leaving the trio unharmed.

Zuzong glanced at Xuan Jian and Wei Xianxian. "Let me take you both out of Wei."

"Thank you, benefactor," Xuan Jian nodded, astonished by the overwhelming power Zuzong had displayed.

However, Wei Xianxian looked concerned and turned to Xuan Jian. "But what about our child?"

"That's easy enough; I'll help you till the end." As he finished speaking, Zuzong moved instantly, appearing in front of Wei Yong. Before he could react, Zuzong punched him in the stomach, subduing him, and dragged him over to Wei Xianxian.

The soldiers around them stood frozen in disbelief, completely ignored by Zuzong.

Clutching his stomach, Wei Yong coughed up bile and knelt on the ground, pleading with Wei Xianxian, "Daughter, save me!"

Zuzong glanced at Wei Yong, clearly disgusted by his shamelessness. He kicked him hard on the backside and growled, "Stop wasting time. Tell me, where is her child?"

Wei Yong squinted slightly. He had originally thought they were going to kill him, but it seemed they just wanted the child. This was a far easier situation to handle—after all, for a politician like him, as long as he had leverage, any problem could be solved.

Wei Yong responded, "I'll tell you, but only if you agree to one condition."

Zuzong kicked him again. This old man was too devious—trusting him would lead to nothing good. Besides, Zuzong didn't have time to bargain; a third of his one-hour time limit had already passed. He had initially planned to spare Wei Yong, but now that things had come to this, it seemed easier to just let him die.

Zuzong grabbed Wei Yong like a chick and lifted him in front of his face. Activating the Sharingan, he locked eyes with Wei Yong, who immediately fell into the illusion.

"Now tell me—where's the child?"

Wei Yong, his eyes vacant, responded expressionlessly, "The child is at—"

Zuzong turned to Dianqing and said, "Brother Dianqing, I'll take them to retrieve the child. If you have any questions, ask this old scoundrel yourself. The illusion will wear off in half an hour."

Dianqing nodded and clasped his hands in thanks, "Much appreciated—"

Without waiting, Zuzong gathered his soul power at his feet and took the injured Xuan Jian and Wei Xianxian to where the child was hidden. As for Wei Yong, he would eventually be killed by Wei Wuji, so it didn't matter if he died sooner or later.

Ten minutes later, by the lakeside where Xuan Jian and Wei Xianxian had fallen in love in the original story.

Seeing the happy reunion of Xuan Jian, Wei Xianxian, and their rescued child, Zuzong smiled beneath his mask. Perhaps this made up for one of the greatest regrets of his past life.

Afterward, Zuzong gathered his soul power, channeling it into his palm. A vine from the Blue Silver Emperor sprouted from his right hand and dove into the lake, retrieving a black sword from its depths. With a flick of his wrist, he summoned the white sword from his system space.

Looking at the black and white swords in his hands, the usually calm clan leader couldn't help but marvel—these were truly fine weapons.

"So, what are your plans now?" Zuzong asked Xuan Jian and Wei Xianxian.

Xuan Jian looked at Wei Xianxian. After narrowly escaping death and reuniting with his family, he no longer had grand ambitions. "I want to take Xianxian and the child and live as ordinary people, away from all this."

Wei Xianxian agreed, "Wherever my husband goes, I will follow."

"But what if the Net comes after you?" Zuzong shook his head. With the methods of the Net, they'd soon be able to track them down. It would be as if his rescue had been for nothing. Zuzong was well aware of the ruthlessness of this organization.

"This—" Xuan Jian's face stiffened. He knew full well the power of the Net; after all, he was their top assassin. If they were found, he might survive, but Wei Xianxian and the child would not stand a chance.

Zuzong's eyes flickered. There was one place that might be completely safe—Mount Yunmeng, at Guiguzi's residence. Plus, he could visit the young Uncle and Second Uncle, who were likely still training at Guiguzi's academy. Though persuading them would take some effort.

Zuzong said, "I know a safe place. Let me take you there."

P.S. - "Net" (also known as Luo Wang or 罗网) refers to an assassination organization or spy network. It typically serves as a powerful, secretive group that deals in covert operations, including intelligence gathering, assassination, and political manipulation.
