Chapter 16 - Spirit Guidance Department

Helplessness is a miserable feeling.

Xu Sanshi had thought he was a prodigy for his age and was even considered stronger than most of his seniors.

But what was the result when he faced Yuhao?

That terrifying malevolent power of darkness that corroded his skin, and the bone-shattering feeling when he was punched with that crimson light imbued attack.

The detestable smile and the chilling crimson eyes of Yuhao crept into his mind.

Xu Sanshi gasped. He woke up from a nightmare, glancing around the sky. It was already dark, but his chest and lungs felt stuffy, and he couldn't move as he was constricted with the life support devices around his body.

The healers had already filled him in with his injuries. It might take a month for him to heal, but fortunately, his cultivation was not crippled.

But that news did not comfort Xu Sanshi's bitterness of his defeat.

"Dammit..."

Tears fell from his eyes as he tried to scream in frustration, but the pain in his chest was unbearable, so he could only cry in silence.

Yuhao.

Every time he imagined that terrifying last moment before he fell unconscious from that technique. Xu Sanshi felt fear.

If he wanted to, he could've killed him.

That thought terrified Xu Sanshi as he swiftly covered his face with the quilt. His body shook and he cowered until morning came.

.

.

In the open field, which was the size of a football field, between the running students of other classes, a boy and a disguised reverse trap faced each other at a five-meter distance apart. Their gazes clashed against each other along with the frazzled silence of the class crowd.

It was a duel to determine who would become class president. Wang Dong glanced at me with a vigilant look.

Bright Goddess Butterfly

A bluish butterfly wing unfurled behind his back as she launched herself towards me. She twisted her body and launched a devastating kick that would've been a threat to a Spirit Elder.

But who was I?

I took the brunt of force with my neck without any defense. I stepped back and frowned a little, but continued to stand tall. When the teacher Zhou Yi and the class became shocked at what just happened. It wasn't just me who was feeling the pain.

"Ugh!"

Wang Dong flew back and held her right leg, with teary eyes.

"Why is your neck so hard?!"

"..."

I didn't answer as I was afraid to say something rude again, Wang Dong felt provoked.

"You... I am not giving up."

One yellow ring and a purple spirit ring appeared floating around her, and with a slight light signal from the spirit ring activating, Wang Dong flew to the skies.

Guillotine Wings!

She glared at me and launched several blue-crescent waves that threatened to tear me into pieces.

I gripped my hands, and threw punches at each of the blue-crescent waves, with the dark gauntlet materialized into my arms.

When the dust cleared, I remained unscathed as Wang Dong used her 2nd Spirit Ring from behind me.

'She tried to take me off guard?" I grinned and allowed her to use her spirit ring.

Light of the Butterfly Goddess!

Numerous light rays shot out from all directions of Wang Dong's body generating dust from all around while blocking my field of sight.

I quickly turned around, and grasped the spiritual energy-infused fist from Wang Dong's fist, not letting go of her hand.

"You've lost," I muttered and glanced at the embarrassed Wang Dong.

'I think we are too close?'

"Get off me!"

She tried to brush free, but as I let go of her hand, Wang Dong fell, subconsciously, I caught her from falling.

I held her waist with my hand while I was staring blankly at her blushed face, we were both close to kissing at this point.

"Kyaa!"

"It's a romance between two handsome boys!"

"It's a dream come true!"

As the dust cloud cleared off, the girls of the class exclaimed with excited faces.

'What the hell...'

I didn't expect this to happen.

I tried to let go of her again, but Wang Dong was even faster as she pushed my chest away.

"Yuhao, from now on, you're the class president. Is there anyone that is against this decision?" Zhou Yi said.

They all shook their heads and looked at me with smiles and laughter. I glared at them, causing them to look away while holding back their laughter.

'These damn brats.'

I turned my head, and Wang Dong was glaring at me furiously.

'It's already a bad day again. I want to go back to bed and sleep...'

I sighed internally, and as class ended. I stopped at Teacher Zhou Yi's office.

Yan Shaozhe was talking to her and he turned his eyes to me, with a warm look.

"Huo Yuhao, you've arrived. I heard all about it from Teacher Zhou Yi. Are you willing to accept this task? Wang Dong will move to your dorm, tomorrow."

"Yes, I have no qualms about this insidious task." I crossed my arms and glanced at Zhou Yi.

"This brat is already rebellious enough to say this in front of me, is it because Yan Shaozhe is here?" She had a cold look on her face.

"Hahaha. Let's all calm down." Yan Shaozhe mediated the situation and asked me.

"That's right, Yuhao. The elders wanted to know about your second martial soul. Is that fine with you?"

"What if I don't go?"

"Then you won't be able to receive more resources. If it is seen that you have a twin martial soul, the elders won't hesitate to pour in more resources for you."

'My plan succeeded. That was what I was hoping for.' I ruminated a bit to make it less suspicious that I planned this situation.

"Alright."

I nodded to Yan Shaozheng and agreed to meet in the Sea God Lake.

"That's great. I'll be seeing you near the boat dock."

Yan Shaozheng patted my shoulder and left the office after talking to Zhou Yi for a bit.

"You can go now. The task you are given is 3 weeks before the deadline."

"Wait, teacher Zhou Yi."

"What is it?"

When I stopped her from reading her papers, she glanced at me, with a wary look. From her perspective, I was an unpredictable person after all.

"I want to show you, my first martial soul."

Zhou Yi had a puzzled look, she asked me with a questioning tone.

"What would you accomplish by doing this?"

"I want you to let me enter the Spirit Guidance Department."

"..."

Zhou Yi paused before glancing at me and asked.

"Do you want to join our department?"

It would mean that I would be switching from the Spirit Battle Department to the Spirit Guidance Department. Yan Shaozhe would go crazy if that were to happen.

"... Yes, but, I want to choose both departments."

In the original story, Huo Yuhao's talent managed to earn him a position in both departments' inner disciple status. Although I was rushing the plot a bit, I wanted to speed up the progress since my plans were tight for time.

Zhou Yi had a serious look. It seemed that it wasn't impossible, but what spirit master would focus on a variety of different fields? It would only reduce their progress if they focus on a variety of knowledge. It was inefficient!

"Before I judge you, show me your martial soul, and I'll see whether you can be a great asset for our Department.."

I nodded, and I used the Almighty's sub-power, which was the spirit eye.

Spirit Spy + Spiritual Sharing

A purple spirit ring appeared rotating around my body, which shared all of the feedback around 120 meters of the surroundings in a 360-degree stereoscopic vision. It allowed me to see 120 meters in diameter while spiritual sharing enabled me to share my vision with others.

Zhou Yi stood up from her seat, with a shocked face.

"This is..."

'I can see everything around me. The images are floating into my head."

'Every detail, every movement, and every change.'

'It feels like I have total sense over this space.'

"..."

"In this case. Yuhao, follow me."

She didn't even bother to talk about anything else. It seemed like she was in a hurry to bring me over to solve a problem.
