Chapter 04 ~First Day~

"Keep moving forward!"

Iris's POV

Sunlight pours through my window, casting it a bright yellow-like color. I nibbled my eyes to try and rid my sleepy state. I slid out of the comfort of my warm bed and walked to my ensuite.

I took a shower and picked out one of my best outfits, a blue faded jeans trousers, with a white off-shoulder crop top, and white Nike sneakers to go with it. I packed my black silky raven hair into a ponytail, allowing some of my hair to fall freely in front of my face.

I ran straight to the kitchen to get breakfast.

"Morning dad, Morning Dev." I greeted with a huge smile plastered on my face.

"Morning." They both responded simultaneously.

"I hope you slept well last night?" Dad asked and I nodded.

"Okay come have breakfast, you don't want to be looking like one hungry beast on your first day." I laughed at his statement and took a seat beside Devon.

My dad makes most of our meals, so he does both the responsibility of a mom and a dad.

As soon as I finished my breakfast, I headed out to wait for the bus.

Ugh! I hate buses, I miss my car so much!

After a couple of minutes, the bus arrived and some kids who look my age walked into it, I also joined them.

Almost all the seats were occupied. It seems like everyone had their spot, so I sat in front beside a girl, who seems like a loner.

I was so happy I wasn't noticed, everyone's attention was on the group of guys who occupied the back seats, making horrible noises and cracking stupid jokes, most of the girls found their joke funny, even if it wasn't.

Morons!

The bus finally arrived at school. All the students rushed out of the bus like something was chasing them. Gosh! I hate the bus.

Animals!!!

I trudged through the hallway, filled with students, some of them were staring at me and saying things that I couldn't hear. I was feeling so nervous.

Is there something on my shirt or what?

"Hey." A girl with strawberry blonde hair waved at me smiling widely.

"Umh! I can see you are new."

"Y...yes, I am." I stuttered, not used to people approaching me, and smiling like she was.

"Okay, that's nice I am Lizzy... Lizzy Brown." She stretched forth her hands for me to shake.

"I am Iris... Iris Jones." I accepted her handshake and plastered a smile on my face.

"Wait, Iris Jones? ain't you the girl who passed the scholarship examination." I nodded.

"Wooow! You were a high scorer, so where are you headed to? It seems you are lost."

"Well, I am looking for the school's head office."

"Ooh, just down the hall, first turn to the right." She smiled and glanced at her wristwatch.

"Oops!, I am gonna be late for class, Okay see you around." She hugged me, and I stiffened before I waved her goodbye.

Whoa! I think I just made a friend. Take that Devon!

I got to the office as directed, luckily there was a sign on the door "Head office", written on it, so I entered and the Secretary directed me to the Principal's office.

"And you must be Iris." I looked at the tag on the table, boldly written "Principal Mark . C" on it. He seems really nice, unlike my old principal, who acts like he hates his job.

"Yes, Iris Jones." I smiled.

"We have been expecting you, please have a seat. Well, I am really impressed with your performance in your scholarship examination, over the years I have not seen anyone score up to you. You broke the record."

I mentally flipped my hair and grinned.

"Thank you so much, sir." I smiled, genuinely looking like a child who just received a birthday gift.

"Well, just go over there and meet the secretary, she will give you some things to sign and you can go for your classes, is that okay?" I left and did as he instructed.

My first three classes were kind of fun, but it seems like the students here like to stare a lot, luckily Lizzy was beside me a few times.

Finally, it was time for lunch. My favorite part of the day. Everyone ran out like they were really in a hurry. It was not long before I heard girls screaming, and running down the hallway.

It felt like my eardrums were about to burst.

"Why are they screaming?" I asked Lizzy, still blocking my ears from the noise.

"They are just obsessed with those guys, that's all." She shrugged, nonchalantly.

"What guys?" She pointed to the entrance of the hallway.

Suddenly, some group of guys walked in, and the screaming increased.

Can someone get me some earplugs, please?

I know this happens in movies a lot but the wind made their gorgeous hair sway in the right directions without looking messed up and it looks like they were walking in slow motion.

Gosh! I watch a lot of movies. Anyways, I was just imagining. It never happened. This is what happens when you have a non-existing love life.

With all the screaming, it seems like the guys didn't notice the number of girls drooling over them, or probably they are used to it.

I suddenly noticed something or someone....yes someone. It was the same guy that bumped into me a few weeks ago.

What's he doing here?

"Hey, Iris, Iris are you okay?" Lizzy snapped me out of my thoughts, while I nodded and we headed straight to the cafeteria.

Lizzy and I sat together alone. I looked around and it seems like everyone had their spot.

"I know you would be wondering about everyone's sitting position." I nodded and adjusted my glasses.

"Well, it's been like that for a very long time. Over there you will see the group of nerds and goody-good shoes." She air quoted "nerd" and smiled, while I munched on my salad.

"And there you can see the popular girls and cheerleaders, over there you can also see the school's basketball team, always ranting and shouting." She made a disgusting face by glancing at them.

"And finally over there are Charisma High popular guys, it is almost every girl's dream here in our school to be with them, obviously because they are filthy rich and handsome. Seriously, look at them. I smiled at her dreamy face.

"There's Aspen, Lucas, James, Henry, and the one and only Zander Miller Wayne, he's like the leader of the group, his father is like the main sponsor of the school."

Wow! Zander! now I know his name, but why is this moron here?

"You hardly see them apart."

"Hey, Bibbs." Chris wrapped his arms around my neck, while I playfully punch his shoulder.

"It seems like you just made a friend." He said staring at Lizzy and he beamed at her.

"Yeah, She's Lizzy." She stared at him like he was an unknown specimen.

"Finally, coming out of your shell, well see you later." He hugged me tightly and grinned.

"Omg! that....that was Chris...Chris Parker."

"Yes, umh! He's my best friend." I looked towards the direction Chris went, mingling with the basketball players.

No surprise there.

"Wooow! Chris Parker is really your best friend." A flush crept up her face as she smiled.

Omg, she is blushing... Wait, blushing for Chris!!!

Eww!... No offense Chris, but Eww!

"Oh my gosh, you totally like him."

"Umh, Don't tell anyone, I really like him. I have liked him for a very long time though, but I am so afraid to talk to him. I don't want him to think I am so desperate." She blushed even more.

"Aww! that so sweet, you guys would make a really good couple, try talking to him. He's a really good guy you know."

"Yes I know, but I am not ready for that now, so for now, allow me to keep daydreaming about him". We both laughed.
