It had been 1 week since the surgery and Scarlett was feeling relaxed. Yet, an unsettled feeling consumed her whenever she thought about the fact that she had been living for 5 months without her memory. Her parents weren't allowed to tell her anything about those months since the doctor told them it might cause her brain to exert too much energy to search for lost information.
The doctors couldn't be sure if her memory loss of those particular months would be permanent or temporary, they suspected that it would be the first one. Scarlett was worried, what if she had forgotten or lost somebody? She asked her family and they didn't let out anything, they kept diverting her attention to something else.
She asked them if they had enrolled her in rehab because she was finding it quite hard to stay away from her addiction. The medicines and sleep distracted her from thinking about it, but since she was getting discharged that day, her mind was thinking of ways to get her hands on them. " I have." Her father smiled thinking about the way she wanted to make a difference herself.
" Thank goodness." She breathed out in relief though she was getting crazed at the thought of not getting her drugs anymore. " When do I go there?" Scarlett asked with curiosity. " You start tomorrow." Her mother answered for her. " Is it alright if you can make me start today? I already feel frustrated..." They understood her mindstate.
" I'll just make a phone call and you can go there today." Her father assured and she returned his smile.
Her siblings and mother sat there talking to her. " Am I missing out on something, mom?" She suddenly questioned and noticed that her smile fell a little before answering her. " Why did you ask?" " I just have a feeling that I am missing out on some major things." She said and her head hurt a little and a feeling of nausea hit her. She rested her head on the pillow and closed her eyes while the others watched her.
" How is my favourite patient feeling?" Eduardo's voice came from the door and Scarlett smiled, her eyes still shut. " Feeling awesome, doctor." She said and opened her eyes to look at the kind doctor. They had established a very friendly relationship in that one week. " That's great to hear!" He said and approached her and greeted her family simultaneously. She felt like Ed was an older brother she never had. He spoke like Trevor most of the time and found it funny to humiliate her, something only siblings did to one another.
He checked her thoroughly. " You've recovered really fast, sis!" He said and punched her arm gently. " Hey! She's my sister!" Trevor shouted and Scarlett chuckled at her jealous brother. " Mine too," Ed smirked and bid his goodbyes before taking off to his next patient.
" You're my only true brother, Trev," Scarlett said looking at her fuming brother which drew a smile from him.
They all returned home and packed Scarlett's things as she was moving to the rehab that day. " We'll miss you." Marie looked at her sister. " Aww, come here." Scarlett hugged her little sister. " I want to make up to you, after everything I've put you through. I want to be a normal and loving sister to you." Marie's grip on Scarlett tightened on hearing that. She failed to notice the goodness of her sister all those years. But she started getting to her after that accident. Fate was really something, wasn't it?
Scarlett was looking around the rehab and she was proud that she wanted to do this. They told her that there was a family session every once in a week so that her bonding with her family will go better than ever. She was glad that there was such a session between all those sessions.
" We take everyone for some fresh air on the weekends. We usually go to the library or a park where everyone does some outdoor activity or simply walk around. We have plans to change the location since they said it's getting boring. So you'll know when we decide the exact spot." The girl who was showing her around said. " Thank you," Scarlett said and continued looking around. She felt awkward, she didn't feel the need to connect with people or talk to them, but she knew that she had to do this if she wanted a better and happy life.
Zander kept tabs on his lady love through her family. He was joyous when he heard that she was taking the initiative to go to rehab and start afresh. He was happy for her and researched about the rehab that she was in. He found that they took the people there for a weekend day out to relax their mind. A plan popped up in his head, a plan to bring himself to introduce to get introduced to Scarlett. He smiled at the way his brain was working. " I'm a genius!" He told himself.
" Mr.Bailer, I want to take the weekend work in the museum." He told his boss and the man was happy that someone wanted to do that. " Sure! What about our next trip? You're not coming?" He asked and Zander told him that he wasn't up for any excavations for a few months. " And why is that?" Mr.Bailer asked mischievously. " I have a lady's heart to win." Was his simple answer before hanging up.
His plan was simple, make her relive their first meeting all over again.
