“I was very relieved to hear that you and Ms. Coolidge survived without too many complications. You…would have been missed.”

Jesse inclined his head. “Thanks. We were all fortunate that I came home when I did. Though I wish I had been a little bit earlier so I could have caught the bastard while he was there.”

John frowned. “I’d heard that you didcatch him.”

“We did. Eventually. He’s been charged with several arsons in the area. But maybe if I had been there, I could have stopped him before the place went up in flames.”

“Is he in custody then?” The gleam returned to his eyes. “Would you like to see him punished, perhaps? It would be my pleasure. It could be my housewarming gift.”

Jesse almost laughed, but he could see John was completely serious. And he could make Jack del Toro suffer with an indifferent flick of his wrist. Jesse hadn’t thought about it before, but it occurred to him that Michelle could have wreaked her own sort of havoc.
