Fleas turned to flies; flies to wyverns

Crack!

Dozens of glasses crashed onto the floor, breaking.

The sounds reverberated and a mess formed on the floor- a danger zone for whoever who wasn't wearing boots.

"I told you to kill her! How could you fail so miserably!"

The light of a magic lamp.

And two men- or rather on second glance, two orc.

No sound and certainly no one else in the room.

No one was permitted in the first place-

Lots of gold, lots of decoration, lots of paintings; A royal room.

"My lord, we'd employed three Sahagin chiefs and three Twin tails. How on earth was I supposed to be aware that a high-class adventurer was going to ruin everything? Besides, the guild had informed us that most of the Mithril and Adamantium adventurers were already out of the city due to the summons from the capital." An armored man- shining gold.

Two men were in the room. One- armored and kind of looking down. The other- very extravagant clothes and a glare.

The other man clicked his tongue and banged his hand on the empty table. "I know that! but how did this damn adventurer even manage to kill not one but three Sahagin chiefs, three twin tails, and even purify the whole damn river!!!"

Certainly, it was a high fetched news when it first came out.

A random adventurer just happened to be near that staged accident and he just happened to be strong and somehow, he even managed to purify the water?

It was far too farfetched.

If anything, it might even have been double staged.

Meaning, someone had betrayed the man.

Someone he trusted.

And since no one else was here, all his glares fell on the armored man before him… "You know your whole family will be massacred if something were to happen to me, right?" His words came out slowly but they bore quite the weight.

"I am indeed well aware my lord." The armored orc let out a sigh.

Knock!

Knock!

"Who is it?"

"It's me my lord, I bring news." Some voice was coming in from behind the door.

The two men exchanged glances and the armored Orc opened the door, receiving a note from a soldier.

He proceeded to give the note the to other man and upon reading his face kind of crumbled. "Are you sure those were Sahagin chiefs?" He mumbled, pale.

"I'm positive my lord. The guild has confirmed as much."

"Then explain to me… how come a mere Copper (I) summoner defeated three Sahagin chiefs with two White lions and…. Just a sword?"

There were no answers.

After all, even the armored orc had his jaws dropping. "Wait, what?"

***

A copper first adventurer had somehow, defeated three Sahagin chiefs and saved Lady Ansal Val Amine.

The news spread fast- both in the guilds and among the soldiers of the city too. And as soldiers chatted more and more about the event, things kind of got out of hand. The general people also got into the action.

Fleas became flies and flies became wyverns… basically, at one point, no one really knew what was true anymore.

They all however did agree that a certain adventuring noble had in fact saved the lady of the town- lady Amine…

Where was this adventurer?

No one knew.

Who was this adventurer?

No one knew that either.

And certainly not the guild because they for sure weren't really talking about it…

"I heard the new adventurer came to town with two massive Draconic lions!"

People fought over the rumors as they had their evening tea.

Stalls full of people just going at it.

"Yeah, I heard he's a summoner and can summon even magical beasts! Maybe even a dragon!"

With entertainment kind of meek- people really loved rumors.

"Don't be silly! I heard he could cut through steel like butter! All his equipment is made from Adamantim and he's just pretending to be a newbie!"

"Wha? I heard he was skilled in skinning his enemies alive!"

That being said- fleas became flies and flies became wyverns… basically, at this point, no one really knew what was true anymore. They did try to look into the man, however.

Who was he? Where did he come from? Why was he so damn strong despite being a copper first?

Yeah, lots of questions.

"Who knows maybe he's a former general of sorts and lost his job due to the recent war and decided to maybe go on adventuring, to get back his happiness?" a passerby Harpy happily chirped and moved along.

A beaut! Almost all the men stared at her moving behind- eyes full of desire…

This again gave birth to more rumors and things eventually got out of hand. Or rather, more out of hand.

Of course, the main target of these rumors- the said adventurer had no way of knowing about any of these.

Yet.

***

Wham!

The door blasted open.

"Guildmaster, they're at it again! They're demanding we hand over the information regarding Sir Gain…" an attendant came in, pig-faced, ordinary.

The guildmaster- a fairly young lady- was sat in her chair, feet on the table, eyes closed and arms behind her head; resting, thinking. The clothes barely covered her specific parts and exposed her tanned, scarred, slim body to the world. Though slim, she was frail by no means. After all, before starting this business, she was a full-time adventurer herself.

What rank, no one knew.

"Quit your yapping. This is an organization. I don't care even if the mayor himself comes down here- no one is getting jack shit from us."

"HA hA HA!" A large chuckle and a man came in.

Bright clothes, and a bright smile- barely any hair on the middle portion of his head…

"Ah, that would actually be quite the hassle for me. So would you mind making an exception just this once, Von Marie?" Swirling his mustache, he took a seat.

"Lord Ansel…" The guild master stood up and bowed in a noble manner.

The man just gestured, not quite bowing his head. "It's okay, I'm not here formally. Also, just the name and address are good enough."

"Lord Gain, a knight. As for his address- we don't know." The woman took a seat.

"You don't know? So, him being a newbie wasn't a lie?" Ansel mused, grinning to himself.

"Actually, he just registered today. Personally, I haven't met him yet…"

The man, kind of let out an awkward sigh. "I see. Is he in the guild right now?"

"He's on a quest outside of the city- or at least that's what my attendant over there tells me."

"I see, quite an interesting fellow. He saved my daughter but didn't bother giving his name. he even accompanied her to the city despite being severely wounded." He let out another sigh. "I really do hope he's alright."

"Me too."
