Disease System: Infecting Everything

From their first steps into space, Earthlings never thought they were alone, but there was nothing to prove they weren't, so they grew complacent. They assumed that they were in a small corner in the universe, so nothing would come and attack them, but they were wrong. The Acno came, and took root at the edge of The Solar System, yet the earthlings didn't notice when something took control of Pluto. And that oversight allowed for the Acno to easily takeover The Solar System. They quickly colonized every planet, and within a decade, Earth was the only planet that remained free. Despite having fully colonized Mars, Mercury, and even Venus, The Earthlings had nothing capable enough of stopping the Acno. Even after The Earthlings were undergone The Awakening, the war continued on. The Earthlings only had Earth and their moon left, yet they were about to lose all of that too. _____________________________________ Zen had everything he could have ever wanted. His family loved him, he wasn't in poverty, and despite his weird behavior, he had friends. But then he lost it to the war. With nothing left his last hope is his awakening, but even that could end in disaster. He could be sent to the factories to work as fuel, or something much worse could befall him. But if he awakens well he could regain everything he lost, and maybe more. The war still rages across The Solar System, and his family is gone. Now, with newfound powers, what will Zen do?

Sleeping through School

The School day passed like I thought it would.

I just slept through it.

There was literally nothing interesting enough to hook me for longer than ten minutes.

The teacher came in and said, "Testing Exam is tomorrow."

That got me going, but then they said nothing else, and just taught a little more about the history of Laatov, but I already knew all of this, so I went to dreamland.

I left school quickly, and when I arrived home, I quickly searched the internet for an entrance exam to a Prestigious Academy.

It wasn't like they had no way to allow kids into their palace of education without scouting them out themselves, so it obviously had to be an entrance exam somewhere.

I spent two hours looking for ways to enter any of the Top 100.

With my Talent I could easily enter any of the Top 70, so I didn't like for anything regarding them.

The fact a Green Grade talent could appear as an Indigo Grade should be enough for certain research based figures excited, but it wasn't an anomaly, so I wouldn't be that enticing

That is where the Indigo Grade comes into play.

Prestigous Academies allowed technically anyone, but if you used your eyes, you would only find people with Blue Grades and above.

I could easily get into any of these Academies, but if I truly wanted to get some recognition when I graduated, I needed to go to one of the Top 20.

They only accepted Indigo Grades and Purple Grades, so I was going to struggle if I didn't do some prior research.

Luckily, I found some previous data about test they used, and I could handle it.

It would first test us on our base strengths like what this system called Or, Control, Force, and Vitality, but it wasn't called anything.

Just Grip Strength, 100m Time, Cell Strength, and some others.

Those ragtags of numbers made nearly no sense because nobody can solely be judged by how long their legs were.

That was one of the weirder statistics.

I could swear that it meant nothing except for calculating how fast your blood circulated because they also tested your heart rate at multiple levels.

After going through this ragtag group of tests you would be put in some form of real combat.

It wasn't always different every year, so no one could perfectly predict it.

The most common was just a tournament between the kids in the school, but that only worked when there were lots of kids of the same grade.

It wouldn't work at our school because of how sparse our higher graded kids are, but the second most common would.

The second most common was putting students against Ihron.

They were a new race created solely by the Acno, but they weren't even close to the strength of one.

Ihron were a mass of genetics mismatched from the animals within our solar system, and they were disgusting. The stronger they were, the more detached they were from any recognizable form.

If someone had seen a slightly larger dog they wouldn't panic. But if they saw a dog with the pattern of a raccoon, they would run for their lives.

The size of an Ihron doesn't determine its strength, so people learned to eventually be able to recognize similar traits from various animals because nobody wanted to meet an Ihron, and get it confused for a Leopard or Dalmatian.

One of the classes we had to take in school was teaching us how to identify animals, and common forms of Ihron.

It wasn't the most useful class because if we ever saw an animal inside of the city without people around it, the animal would most certainly be an Ihron, but that didn't matter.

The Ihron used in the past were ones people--who had awakened their talents-- could beat without any difficulty.

But that was only if they knew how to fight, or use their talents.

If they didn't they would sadly end up dead depending on the Ihron's magnitude.

Passing a test about fighting Ihron was easily accomplishable because the schools were required to teach their students the U.R.K.

The Universal Rampaging Karate was a relatively bad martial art in the grand scheme of things, but it was just enough to easily beat down a 0 magnitude Ihron.

Sadly, you could only do that if you knew what you were doing.

Luckily I did.

I was first in my class for everything, and that included the combat section.

I may not have been the very best in the world, but I could still beat the 0-mag Ihron.

It wasn't beyond my reach because I could handle up to a 0.2-mag Ihron based on the simulation results.

An Ihron beyond that would prove to be a struggle, but there wouldn't be anything stopping me from running away.

If you couldn't fight something then you needed to be able to escape.

That is why I also trained to be faster than everyone else in our school.

The amount of dust kids ate from our races was beyond conception.

While I was thinking back on these past through years, I couldn't help but get slightly emotional.

School was easy, and it never proved to be an issue. The teachers weren't all that bad, but if someone asked if I liked them I would have to disagree. Students weren't all that bad; however, some were freaks of nature that only evoked disappointment from me.

*BZZZ*

My pulsewave vibrated up a storm. It wasn't normally awake enough to notice a light tell, so whenever I needed a notification I would have it vibrate strong enough for it to give a massage.

That was also because I never upgraded it so a ringtone could be installed, but that didn't matter.

The pulsewave I possessed was not the lastest version, yet it did all I needed to. I never planned on getting one of the latest anytime soon because of the amount of zero's on the price tag for it.

Manipulative pricing is truly something only the Acno could have come up with.

I quickly grew a frown. I could have sworn that I had only given teachers my contact information.

Just to make sure I wouldn't miss anything about the end of my stay, I checked it and was greeted with the most surprising message of my life.

It was an invitation from the Bronzeheart Academy.

I had already denied their invitation on testing day, but they wouldn't fold.

"They really won't give up," I muttered as I archived this new contact along with the numerous other invitations from Academies outside of the Top 100.

Countless Academies had been pestering me telling me to join them, but I had said no to every single one. They were all below my standards, and I hadn't approached any of them, so their pestering was completely uncalled for. I couldn't guarantee it, but they had probably gotten my test scores from the Bronzeheart Academy because the large academy really wanted me.

Bronzeheart Academy probably set up this spam scheme, so they could subtle influence my selection. They wouldn't report my score to the truly high up Academies, but would reveal it to the Lower Ranked ones because they were sure I wouldn't go to them. To their credit they were right about that; I certainly wouldn't go to an Academy below Bronzeheart's level.

However, that doesn't mean that I was cornered, and in fact I still had many different paths to go down. I had already been preparing ways to escape this small town, and rise to the center stage.

*BZZZ*

"Huh, I guess they are really spreading my name around," I muttered as I inspected the newest target for my attention.

The pulsewave graciously provided me with the information that my teachers had sent out past their work hours.

It was a nice, weekly, digital newsletter that covered topics around the school. Despite the numerous times this newspaper had been a propaganda machine, I continued to monitor it in case there would be a time a nugget of information could prove useful.

This time it didn't disappoint me.

The very first thing on the newspaper's latest version was an article focused on the tests graduating students would take soon.

It contained a whole lot of useless exposition. It mostly summarized how these were invented right after the second renaissance to measure the children's capability, and the notable addition of testing for Od and other minor alterations made throughout the years.

Thankfully, they had removed the testing requirement of Od.

That was because some experiments revealed that Od only developed after the talent was awoken.

It was also determined that the Od would develop at the same place for the first week, and after that week, it would increase absurdly fast in comparison.

However, there was one other thing that caught my eye.
