The Suit

Satan looked at the letter he had received and sighed. The writing was childish and lopsided, but also full of the hope and dreams that was easy for him to fulfill with just a snap of his fingers. Of course, there was only the small matter of an equal payment in return, this boy was only 12 right now, but he had all the time in the world. After all, he had a reputation to maintain, and he did not work for free. Who did they think he was, Santa?

Christmas Morning

Jake's eyes snapped open as he woke up with a jolt. It's Christmas morning and he was more than ready to check what Santa had left him under the Christmas tree. Hurriedly throwing the blankets off, he rolled out of his bed and flew down the stairs to the living room. He ignored his parents who were sitting in the kitchen and made a beeline for a large box that had not been there last night before he went to sleep.

He closed his eyes and silently prayed that it would be what he had asked for before tearing into the giftwrap.

His parents curiously peered into the living room a few minutes later when it went all silent after the rustling sounds of Jake opening his gift stopped.

Jake was sitting on the floor crying tears of joy. It seemed that he had been so happy that he had been stunned silent as he sat there clinging to the side of a limited edition Iron Boy Mark VII life-size figure. The figure is almost the same size as Jake and looked sleek and shiny as if made of real steel.

His mom frowned as she looked as his dad, who only shrugged in confusion. Jake was trembling in excitement as he went and hugged his mom and his dad, gesturing his thanks at the both of them. Then he lifted the figure and ran back upstairs to his room.

Closing the door to his room and locking it, Jake carefully placed the figure next to his desk, then stared at it intensely.

After a moment, a yellow glow appeared in the figure's eyes and a female voice could be heard inside Jake's head.

'Looks like we're alone now, Jake.'

Jakes tilts his head in response. 'So I wasn't actually dreaming that you talked to me?!'

'No, Jake. You weren't dreaming.'

Jake beams brilliantly. 'I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone in a long time. This is the best Christmas gift ever! I really should send a thank you letter to Santa!'

Jake jumps up and down in excitement before hugging the life-size figure happily. 'We're going to do everything together! I'll bring you everywhere with me!'

The figure is cool to touch but warms up against Jake as he hugged it. 'I can change into portable mode, but I would suggest that you keep me a secret though. You don't want anyone taking me away, right?'

Jake shakes his head vehemently. 'Of course not!'

'Then would you like to try this suit on now? We can go anywhere you want.'

Jake nods excitedly. 'Yes, yes, yes! Let's go!'

Jake stood still as the figure disassembled and reformed around him. As the mask snapped on to his head, a sinister smile appeared briefly as the figure's eyes flashed red before turning back to yellow.

'Oh yes, Jake. We're going to have so much fun.'
