Satan Gave My Son a Christmas Present!

There were many things Alice Collins had had to say in her life. Being a single parent living in South London and working as a bartender at a Gentlemen's club, Alice had said a lot of things on a variety of topics. And she was usually always prepared for the unexpected.

Yet on christmas eve as she looked at the bright and innocent eyes of her son Malcolm, she said a line she'd never expected to say in her life, "You wrote your christmas list to Satan?"

"Yessh" said little Malcolm, he'd lost two of his baby teeth the other day and had a cute endearing lisp at the moment, but no matter how cute he answered, Alice was not in the mood to say 'awww' and give him a hug.

Actually she was more in the mood to pack their things, get in the car, and drive to her Parent's place to spend the night.

"Did I do somechhinggg wronggg?" Malcolm asked tugging on his Mother's trousers, usually she would have picked him up by now and given him a huge hug, yet instead she seemed frozen stiff and a little panicked.

All Malcolm had done was show his Mummy his recent spelling test. He'd gotten the test back a week ago before the nursery had closed for christmas break, but he'd forgotten to show her. He'd only remembered when he'd dug into his little Thomas-the-tank-engine backpack whilst looking for his crayons and had found it crunched up in the corner.

His Mummy always praised him and gave him treats when he showed her his test results, so he'd eagerly ran to her.

At first when she'd looked at the test she'd been very happy, "Look at my boy getting 4 out of 5, well done!"

She'd gone to the sweet jar and was just about to give him a lollipop, when she'd laughed out loud. "I just noticed the one you got wrong was Santa, Malcolm you should know Santa is written S-A-N-T-A, yet you actually wrote satan, S-A-T-A-N."

"Whaaaa, that was wrong! Oh no! I wrote my Christmas list to Santa but with S-A-T-A-N, does that mean Santa won't get my list because I wrote his name wrong Mummy?" Malcolm had cried.

That was when Alice had frozen, asked Malcolm if he'd written his christmas list to Satan, and after he'd said yes she was now panicking.

Alice was staring at Malcolm who now looked like he was going to cry. She wanted to tell him that he hadn't done anything wrong, but the words just wouldn't come out. Alice wasn't normally overly superstitious or anything, and she normally didn't believe in Santa or Satan at all.

She'd also already bought all of Malcolm's presents and had made a fake Santa present that was already under the tree.

The problem was that recently there had been a lot of strange things on the News. People claiming to have seen aliens or angels. A real life Vampire had been caught by the police only yesterday and there had been huge drama about it on the media. People had been coming forward so much lately on TV talking about the supernatural and saying how it was all real, that Alice didn't know what to believe anymore.

If this was last week she would have laughed it off and given her son a hug and went to bed. But right now she was scared that maybe her son's christmas list had really gone to something like Satan. What if Satan existed and was really coming to their house.

F*CK! Was all she could think.

Malcolm began balling his eyes out, her son was really sensitive to her mood so seeing her panic probably made him panic. Alice swooped him into her arms and gave him a big hug, but she was really freaking out.

It wasn't like they'd confirmed that Satan existed on the news yet, maybe she was just overreacting. Also it was already really late, with all the things going on in the media this past week it was advised for everybody to stay indoors after 8. Even though it was South London and only 9'oclock, right now it was a ghost town. It probably would be worse to leave the house.

In the end after fretting a lot Alice just put Malcolm to bed. She made sure all the windows and doors were locked and sat in the living room quietly waiting with a large butcher's knife in her hand. If Satan did come Alice was gonna chop his d*ck off.

Yet the clock next to the TV went "tick tock tick tock", and nothing happened. After a long boring night at around 5 am the sun was coming up and Alice was inwardly groaning. She couldn't believe she'd stayed up the entire night because she was scared Satan would come, how freaking ridiculous.

Yawning, she began preparing food for their christmas lunch, and when Malcolm woke up he was welcomed with the mouth watering smells of chicken, gravy and potatoes.

He ran into the kitchen with his stumpy legs and hugged his Mother. "Merry Christmas!" he shouted.

"Awww how cute." thought Alice as she cuddled him back. "Quick go open your presents and see what you got. Maybe Santa got you something."

"Yaaay!" Malcolm shouted as he ran into the living room, and looked under the tree. There were presents from Mummy, one from Santa, another from his Grandparents and his Uncle Ross, and then also, wrapped in black paper was a small present from SATAN.

"Mummy!!!" Malcolm yelled, "I got a present from Santa and Satan!"

Alice who had been stirring some gravy dropped the ladle. What did he just say?

She ran into the living room armoured with a knife and screeched, "Where's the present Michael?"

"Huhhhh?"

"The present from Satan!"

Michael pointed at the black parcel that he'd already opened. "Mummy Satan is so nice, he got me 100 lollipops just like I asked."

"..."

Alice grabbed the black parcel, and there was indeed a ton of lollipops inside. At the back there was a black card stuck to it with the word SATAN across it in red. Alice quickly opened the card. It said.

"Why hello Malcolm, thank you for that lovely little card you sent me and that list. Nobody ever sends me those things. I was really touched. I can't believe all you wanted was lollipops though, I would have even given you a demon as a slave if you'd just asked. It's really overcrowded down here and I need to get rid of a few. Anyways happy holidays.

Love Satan."

"..." Alice didn't know what to think.
