No Use Crying Over Spilled Oil

New York, 21:30

"HAA YAA!!"

The ninja attacked. His sword pierced towards the target's chest.

*Boink*

"Aaaah my heart. Ninja... you killed me..." The target muttered his last words

"Haha, I'm the strongest ninja ever" The child with ninja mask celebrated.

"Yes, you defeated me. Now stop playing and eat your food"

It was a fancy restaurant. The father was putting up with his son's antics in one of the tables.

"Michael, focus."

"Oh, sorry James. I was thinking about my son at home haha" Laughed a middle-aged man on another table. He was in the early sixties, and his head barely had any more black hair in it.

"I know, but first we have to think about what you should do. My contact in the FBI told me the arrest warrant has been requested. It won't be long before they come knocking at your door"

"Don't worry, I already have a plan" Michael said as he took a sip of his wine. "When they come I will just make a deal"

Michael was an oil executive for a multinational oil company. 6 months ago he came under investigation for negligence in a massive oil spill case in Nigeria.

"All I did was follow orders from the CEO, so when the FBI comes I will just testify against her." He was simply not afraid. at most he would spend a few weeks in a private cell before being assigned to home arrest.

"That would be the end of your career, you know that right?"

"I'm already old and have enough money hidden away to last the rest of my life." He said and drank the rest of the wine. "Besides, the one really getting the short end of the stick will be that bitch of a CEO. That's what she gets for trying to throw me under the bus"

Michael raised his hand to signal the waiter.

"Yes sir?"

"One more bottle of wine, a Hout-Brion this time"

"Certainly" two minutes later he came back with the bottle and began serving the duo.

*Clink*

While pouring the wine for Michael the waiter accidentally hit the glass with the bottle causing it to crack.

"Look what you're doing!"

"Oh my god, I'm deeply sorry sir, I will immediately bring another glass" and he left to bring a new glass

"Incompetent fool" Michael grumbled

"It was an accident, just forget it." James tried to calm his client "look, here he comes"

The waiter came back with a new glass for Michael.

"Good, at least you didn't trip and break this one too. Hurry and pour the wine" Said Michael, failing to notice a little of white powder at the bottom of the glass

"Don't worry about him, just keep calm" spoke James to the side "You should be new here right? We come to this restaurant every week and never saw you before"

"Yes sir," the waiter kept his head slightly down "one of the waiters fell down the stairs house and hurt his leg. Next week he should be back."

"Good, then we won't have to deal with you again" spoke Michael as he took a sip of the wine "Now that you're done, hurry up and leave"

"Yes sir" and the waiter left

----------------------------

The waiter kept working like nothing happened.

Everything went according to plan. The target has been poisoned. In a few hours the ricin will start acting, and tomorrow he won't be able to talk with the FBI. In at most 72 hours he will be dead, with no traces pointing to a poison.

All the evidence of the oil spill pointed to Michael as the culprit. The CEO suspected that Michael may try to put the blame on her, so she figured it would be cheaper to... silence him.

He looked at the kid that was playing ninja before and couldn't help but remember when he used to imagine ninjas being like that. 'This is how real ninjas operate, no black garbs, no swords nor shurikens, but by blending in and never being discovered, even after the mission is carried out.'
