GRAND PA

Raj is the only child of John and Mary,who is quite different from the children of his age group.He is awarded as young artist,at the age of 7.He loves his grandparents a lot.He even refers his grandfather as Santa. Raj stay in Mumbai with his parents,but his grandparents stay at hospital most of the time, as Raj's grandfather is suffering from cancer.It is Christmas Eve and Raj got gifts for all, except his grandfather.

"Mamma! what should I gift my grandpa?" Raj,who is 8 years old, asked innocently looking at his mother.

"Grandpa would be happy with anything that you gift him, so you decide yourself, what he like the most" His mom said ruffling his hair.

"Okay mamma!" Raj said and ran to his room.

Raj prepared gift for his grandfather and after wrapping it ,along with the other gifts ,he asked his father to send the gifts to the respective persons.

At hospital Raj's grandpa,santa is waiting for the christmas present from his grandson.

"Why didn't my grandson send me any gift yet?"Santa asked his wife looking dejected.

"It must be on the way dear"She assured him.

At the hospital a new doctor is appointed to treat Santa.He just joined a while ago.He didn't even meet his patient at.When he is about to leave, to meet the patient,someone knocked at his door.

"Come in !"He said in his stern voice.

His manager walked in,with a wrapped gift.

"Sir,we received a Courier and there is a card ,"the manager said, placing the gift on his desk and left.

Soon he opened the gift and It was a painting of an old man and a child.The painting depicts the innocence,an old man toting a child on his back,and both smiling at each other. The features of the man and the child are well crafted.When the doctor looked at the painting,he was amazed and he felt like he knew the old man.Soon realization hit him and he is in the state of euphoria.

"This ..This...man..."he couldn't complete his sentence, and he heard a knock on his door.

"come in"he replied.

"Doctor, that special patient is waiting for you"A nurse informed him.

He nodded,placing that gift on his table, and left to check the patient.Moments later he reached the patient room.Patient is not on his bed and a old woman is sitting beside the patient's bed.

"I am the new doctor,Satan.I am in charge of this case now."He introduced himself with a gentle smile.

An old man walked into the room,and when doctor Satan looked at the person,he was shocked.Without saying a word Satan left the patient's room and reached his cabin blissfully. He looked at the painting on his table,reminiscing his past.

17 YEARS AGO:

"Sir,please give me something to eat,my mom is starving"A small boy cried, begging at the bakery.

No one even glanced at him.A man,well dressed in business attire,walked out of a 10 storey building.He walked to that bakery,when he saw a small boy begging for food.

"Listen child,I will send you to the school,read well and never beg"He said approaching that boy.

"My mom...she..is starving..I need food.."the child said ,sobbing.

"I will send your mom to the old age home.They will look after her and you study well and take care of your mother in the future"the man replied smiling at the boy.

Satan felt tears welling up in his eyes,reminiscing his past.He,looked at the card,which is placed in the gift.

"To my dearest grandpa,I LOVE YOU. Merry Christmas ..."was written on the card.Seeing that ,he teared up with happiness and he ran to the old man holding the gift.He reached the door,and composed himself.knocking,he walked in,hugging the gift.

"This is for you sir "He said and gave the gift the to old man.

Old man looked confused and took the gift.When he saw the card,his confusion is replaced by happiness.

"My grandchild !... My grandchild !..,Raj,sent me our painting,"he said showing the painting to his wife,shedding happy tears.

"It's so beautiful"She complimented smiling.

"Indeed,it is"He said smiling gleefully.

"How did you get this ?"the old man asked the doctor.

"It's a bit misunderstanding,sorry sir,and I will treat your illness.You will meet your grandson soon"doctor said smiling gently and left.

After 4 months,Santa,grand father of Raj,returned home,after getting cured by Satan.Satan gave a card to him, on the day,when he gave the painting,presented by his grandson.He asked him to open the card, only after returning home from the hospital.Now that he returned home,he opened it,expectantly.

"SUCCESS IS NOT FINAL,FAILURE IS NOT FATAL,IT IS THE COURAGE TO CONTINUE THAT COUNTS"is written on the card.

Old man smiled knowingly,these are the words,said by him to the boy 17 years ago,when he admitted him in the school.
