Christmas with Satan [5/5]

Chapter 5 : Back to Sleep

The devil and his little friend were currently in a small city on the outskirts of a metropolis. But where exactly that was, neither of them knew.

The 'mighty one' sitting on top of an electricity pole, in plain sight but nobody seemed to notice them. And in his lap was Bayley, eating a fruit she plucked from a nearby tree.

After they left the grass field, they flew to many different places. And whenever they ended up in the middle of nowhere, Satan would teleport them to the nearby location and Bayley would continue to explore from there. She was having the time of her life, flying unrestrained in the skies, feeling free. And even Satan was unexpectedly enjoying his time with his little friend.

It was still barely five in the morning as they stopped in this peaceful town. Bayley was watching the sunrise with glee, sitting in the devil's lap. She was completely awed by the dull sky turning bright in front of her eyes.

"Satan.." Bayley voice cooed from below. And as he looked down, he found her gazing intently at the blazing yellow ball in the sky.

"Can I touch the sun?"

"That's… a bad idea, B. Lets not do that." He immediately denied her. It's not that he can't do that but doing so would immediately alert those up above and it would be bad for both of them. So, he tried to change her mind.

"Why don't we do something else? How about we go scare some people, huh?"

"Bad idea." She instantly shot him down and flew in front of him. "Lets go home. Mom and Dad should be coming home now."

"Eh, why so soon? I can take you home in a second so lets fly around-" He frowned as he turned to the side. He saw a giant figure in red flying towards them. He then sighed and turned to Bayley with a sad smile. "Alright, let's go home."

The next moment, they both appeared in her home, as the devil wore a serious expression.

"Bayley, it's time for me to leave." He spoke and Bayley whipped her head towards him.

"Will you come again?" She was afraid she will never see him again. And she didn't want that. Even though he was a devil, he was her friend.

He didn't know how to answer that so he simply shook his head. "Remember, Bayley, never let anyone know about your wings if not-"

"No! Why won't you come to see me again? You don't like me? Because I didn't listen to you?" She was extremely sad and disappointed. "No! No! That's not what I wished for!"

'Damn it. She is not listening at all. I should try different methods.'

"Listen B, calm down. I promise you, we will definitely meet again. I just don't know when."

"Why don't you know?"

"Im a devil, B. I cant be coming to this world all the time." Hearing this Bayley dropped her head in silence. "But I'll find some way to come and see you again. And then we'll go flying again, okay?"

"You promise?"

"Devils don't make promises. We make deals." He smiled at her. "So lets make a deal. No matter what happens, you should not let anyone know about your powers or wings, and I will find a way to come see you again. Deal?" He extended his hand towards her.

Bayley quickly grabbed his hand and nodded her head. "Deal!"

"Good. Remember, you cannot your break your deal with devil, otherwise I'll curse you."

"Hehe.." She nodded with a smile.

'Now, how to deal with this oldman?' He sighed. Maybe he shouldn't have took Bayley to see him. That way he could've stayed with her a while longer.

The front door of the house blasted open as a torrent of wind gushed in. Bayley turned to the door in shock as she saw a familiar figure walk in.

"Santa?" Bayley was worried. Was he here to hurt Satan again? She then quickly jumped in front of her friend.

The devil smiled and pulled her back. "Don't worry B, he won't hurt me. He's just here to send me away."

Send him away? No, he was here to kick him off this world.

"You devil! Leave that innocent child alone and go back to wherever you came from." Santa yelled loudly, his voice bringing invisible pressure with it.

"Oh? Or what?" The devil asked, provoking the oldman with his smirk.

"Hmph" Santa couldn't be bothered to argue with him as he took out the thin blue lightning piece and tossed it in the air.

The next instant it stabbed itself in the middle of the devil's chest as it began to envelop him with an insurmountable pressure. He immediately dropped to his knees as he tried to stabilize his soul.

The longer he stayed in this world, the stronger the pressure become and he would eventually be expelled out. There was no way he could fight it. That was the edict from those above, albeit a low level one, it's still not something he could stand against.

Watching her friend down on the ground, Bayley rushed to him. But Santa grabbed her and pulled her away.

"Child, get away from the devil. He will be cast out and then you will be free of his influence."

"No! Dont hurt him. He's my friend-"

"He's a devil, not your friend."He then took out a thin glass flask and shoved it into her mouth. "Drink it and all the evil energy inside will be cleansed. You won't remember anything related to him."

Bayley felt groggy as she felt herself going into sleep. She turned to look at the man on the ground and she felt her head get heavy and messy.

She could clearly feel her memories of Satan slowly disappearing one by one. No matter how hard she tried, she felt herself slipping deep into sleep as the memories kept vanishing as if they never happened.

The devil on the ground watched helplessly as her memories were forcefully destroyed. He could only sigh in disappointment.

'Maybe this was for the better?' He laughed as he glanced at his left sleeve, he was shocked and pleasantly surprised.

His usually plain left sleeve now had various patterns and designs on it, faintly outlining to form the letter B. It was much more intricate than any runes and seals on his robe.

He raised his head and looked at the girl who was asleep peacefully on the sofa, just as he found her. He then gave her a smile and turned to the red fat old man.

"You lose!" He spoke and gave a hearty laugh and disappeared in an instant.

Although Santa was confused by his final words, he didn't dwell on it. The devil always has many plans but he won't be tricked into them. And since the devil has already left the world, Santa also went back to his ice mountain.

In the silent lonely house, Bayley was deep asleep until she was woken up her parents that morning. She complained about a weird dream and her deep desire to fly.
