The Past (1)

I woke up in a room, tied up to a chair with a special type of rope, which is what it seemed like. The room was made entirely out of concrete and wood, with no windows or doors anywhere nearby. A lone lamp hangs above my head. In front of me stood a massive steel desk containing paperwork that belonged to someone. On one side was an ornate leather chair, while the other side held a computer monitor on which a video was playing. It displayed various images of me in this castle town, showing things such as my movements, likes, dislikes, favorite food, friends, and most of all, Leo. "I guess the hallucinogen worked." Reagan chuckled. "What the hell is this, REAGAN LET ME GO!" I yelled.

"Don't you see Sora? Why did you become like this?" Reagan asked me as he struggled to hold back tears. I closed my eyes as tears slowly flowed down my cheeks.

"The future was beyond my control. But it does not have to be like this anymore," Reagan said. "No, there is no escape; there is nowhere to go. Our fates are sealed from birth, bound by our families, our religion, and even nature itself. We cannot defy any of those factors." These are the words that Rain uttered as I was unconscious and in what seemed like purgatory.

"Fate is not something that is determined; it is a fixed path that one chooses to go down, and you chose to go down a path of suffering to achieve revenge that Leo would never approve of." Reagan explained.

"Reagan, I've given up. The only thing I can do now is go back and kill the source... myself." Before Reagan could even respond, a portal opened up behind him, specifically a wormhole that led to the past. I leaned back on the chair that I was tied to and fell into the wormhole, sending me back two years in the past.

Time flashed before my eyes, and the sights and smells came rushing forward to me; everything felt so vivid and real like never before. When my feet hit the ground, I realized that this wormhole had brought me somewhere completely nostalgic.

There was no doubt about it; this was the past, and I was in the heart of the city. I knew the first thing that I had to do was get to school. To the top floor of the academy, where he resided. I could feel my eyes watering as I watched Leo walk to class with myself. Then it hit me: if I killed Headmaster Williams before he could kill Leo, then I would never have this twisted way of thinking.

I walked down to the office to see Headmaster Williams sitting there and doing work. How could he just sit there in peace with all the bloodshed he has done?

He sat calmly, writing reports and sending messages through the hologram screen. At first glance, there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the situation, but as soon as I stepped closer to the window behind him, he noticed me. "Is there something I can do for you?" He asked me.

"I'd like to speak outside, if you don't mind." I could barely control my anger; all these thoughts twirled around my mind, threatening to consume my rational thinking, but I refused to let myself go right now.

Ryder frowned deeply but obliged anyway. He got up from his desk, adjusted his white robes, and followed me to a more secluded area, which was the courtyard outside the academy. It was only there that the sounds of screams filled the silence. Ryder's frown deepened at the sight as his pale eyes glimmered slightly with regret.

"So, what can I do for you? I've never seen you here before." He smiled. "Ryder Williams, my name is Sora Katayama, or should I say the Reaper of Death?" My aura manifested a massive scythe with an aura-like black blade.

My body and soul were linked as one entity. Ryder took out his shortsword; it had a black sheathe and a blue-colored hilt wrapped tightly around its hilt. His facial expression changed rapidly between anger and sadness. It seemed like there were hidden motives and past deeds affecting how he thought.

"Williams, you're the Voidwalker. YOU KILLED LEO IN THE FUTURE." I screamed with rage in my voice. I ran towards Williams, hoping to catch him off-guard by aiming straight at his heart. Before I could even swing the scythe at Ryder, my wrist suddenly jerked sideways in an unnatural manner, knocking me off balance. The scythe flew from my grasp, landing hard on the ground next to him.

I didn't get a chance to react when Ryder swung his shortsword towards me in an arc-shaped motion. But unfortunately for him, his aim went awry. "You came to the past so you could kill me before I kill Leo?" Williams started laughing maniacally, as if he had lost all sense of judgement.

"I thought if I killed myself, it wouldn't lead to the horrible things that happened in the future, when in reality, YOU WERE THE SOURCE OF ALL THE PAIN AND SUFFERING IN MY WORLD."

I quickly retaliated, smashing his sword and shattering it into pieces. Then I lunged forward, delivering another punch to his chin. Williams fell to the ground, stunned and motionless, for a moment. After he recovered, I struck him repeatedly in the chest with quick, successive punches, breaking several bones in the process. I couldn't stop myself anymore; all of the negative emotions came rushing towards me, flowing through me, controlling me. They controlled every move I made and pushed my body to new heights.

"That's enough." Reagan's presence was now known. It seemed he was prepared to protect Ryder Williams at all costs. "Reagan, if you knew what this man was capable of, then you would never stop me." I could barely contain the anger in my body. Every time I glanced at Williams, the only thing that would play in my mind was Leo getting disemboweled by the one person I looked up to.

"Who are you? How do you know my name?" Reagan furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as he looked at me. "In simple words, I'm Sora. If you're wondering why I want to kill Williams so badly, it's because he killed the one person who meant everything to me. He killed Leo because he was the scum of the earth; not only that, he is everything that is wrong with this world. A parasitic beast that devours and takes away everything."

"Sora, how did you travel through time?" Reagan asked as he sent a shockwave of mana towards Ryder Williams' body. I caught a glimpse of Williams's body, revealing a wicked grin. "REAGAN, GET BACK!"

Everything turned upside down as I shouted frantically, and darkness began enveloping the sky. It wasn't long after that giant voids came from the ground and took the form of hundreds of skeletons and demons. Their bodies consisted of bones and horns and looked absolutely terrifying—much more gruesome than before.

"What the hell is this?" Reagan stood there in disbelief.
