Descendent: Rebirth of an Angel

Michael is the heir to the Bailon dynasty, a dynasty so expansive and rich the controlled half of Karmos City. His birth changed the lines of succession causing discontent and enemies in the Bailon family. All the while memories from his past life as an Archangel start to come back causing serious "episodes" in their wake. He is caught in between a war of succession that threatens his life, while also re-discovering his light powers that have now somehow changed. Celestial beasts arise out of nowhere creatures that shouldn't exist, yet they do and while dangerous, he discovers that they are his ticket to restoring his powers even acquiring the mystic gifts these monsters possess. Something horrible glimmers at the edge of his consciousness an event so catastrophic he left heaven in order to avoid it or prepare for it? A mission he embarked to bring Lucifer back however that has now changed his new mission wasn't to bring back his brethren rather he needed to kill Lucifer, and let the apocalypse happen. Excerpt: Prologue “A feathered wooden arrow shaft sticks out of my chest, black silky soft things why do they put them there anyway? Not that it matters. Dark red blood pools where the golden tipped arrow struck the chest pulverizing a rib tearing soft lung tissue underneath, breathing is difficult, extremely painful even. Lying on the ground a surface too soft and plain to be natural, blood continues to farther pool at my back, the celestial arrow must have gone through completely.” You will die Michael if you go on this journey You will die The warm fluid spreads under him almost a comforting presence except for the excruciating pain that comes with the open wound. “Humans! I thought they would love me” A labored chuckle ‘Yet here I am dying as a result of my arrogance, in retro-respect them killing each other ceaselessly should have been sign enough but no I had to heal them!’ strangely he wasn’t angry Elderine’s words reverberated endlessly in his mind. You will die You will die The sky shines twilight in the cloudy afternoon it would rain soon ‘Maybe it will wash away the blood, how optimistic of me.’ Blood continues to pour out ‘Michael the Arch-angel foiled by his kin and humans! Would make for a great poem I want to hear it.’ ‘How would it start…hmm…’ He groaned, life continued to flow out of him endlessly with every drop of his immortal blood. You will die A tear dropped from a corner of his eye down the side of his face, ‘Were angels capable of that? I guess so’ Another tear came out then more flowed out in pain, surprisingly he wasn’t crying because he was sad for himself, he had known his fate from the day he left heaven, but for those he couldn’t save, they had to suffer and die due to his recklessness he wouldn’t forgive himself or those who caused it “Elina…...Eva” he tried to shout raspy sounds came from his lips. You will die, You will return stronger than before. Soon he could not breathe any more, the Light became darkness. Janet Conway could in no way ever describe herself as an ordinary person. Her descent from the English island that is Britain in fact constituted the only most normal thing about her. Lost parents at a young age and lived off the streets until they found her and put her into the system after which she was adopted into a military family so even by the time she got into military school she possessed the body and skills most of her senior officers lacked and prayed to one day have.

 An unfortunate accident caused her best friend to die during a raid into a terrorist compound, a stray bullet found itself suck in her temple eyes bulging out lifeless. Now Janet had seen things far worse but that soured whatever tied or motivated her to the whole institution she quit the moment they got back to base. Her adoptive parents were disappointed their sky high expectations shattered, she'd tried to explain herself but they wouldn't have it any one person who quit for such a "non-sense" reason wasn't fit to be their child whatever communication they had didn't last the year after that and five years later they still don't talk.

 Once outside the military Janet found out that she could not fit into society as she'd hoped almost her entire life accumulated to violence a very sharp deviation from what normal society formed. and she quickly discovered that money was a commodity she was sorely lacking whatever savings she had were on the verge of disappearing, her high school diploma without a college degree did not attract any employers in fact she'd met others with those qualifications who were in the same boat as her she shoved the entire idea of college outside her mind. Focusing a skill set she actually had, when the agency approached her she said yes in a heartbeat Killing was not something new to her if it got her paid then hell even officers in the military the very same ones who trained her were acceptable targets.

 Alone she was a lethal weapon with Marcus covering her six they were unstoppable; hence she couldn't get it in her head why two young teenagers gave her so much trouble. Her gut practically screamed at her that something lay amiss.

One kid on the door's death and the other was supposed to be completely unconscious for at least three hours it didn't make sense unless there was a third party and they were about to die. Her thin legs covered the distance in three strides reaching the door in a flash sharp dagger held at the hilt the sharp point facing down parallel to her arm she stopped just beside the door making sure to keep her feet quiet once she ascertained movement inside she barged inside opening it wide her sharp eyes assessing the entirety of the small shack in a second. The girl still lay unconscious in the corner the purplish wound on her head still there yet her skilled gaze easily noticed that the girl had somehow gotten better from when they put her down her skin didn't seem as pale and the purplish color on her temple lessened. That didn't alarm as much as the missing boy ropes lay in pieces where he was supposed to be unconscious.

"What's happened?" a low voice came from behind her, Marcus, despite his size could be stealthy though not enough to get the jump on her. "He's gone" she said in an almost business-like voice "The Bailon child is gone, we have to find him now!" she ignored Sally's sleeping figure and turned facing Marcus "Get a gun."

Michael watched as the woman left through the small rectangular door it took all of his concentration just to remain hidden light deflection a very handy skill to learn but took a lot of concentration to maintain one slip and he'd reappear, they left him there on the belief of being unconscious he doubted they'd let him live a second longer killing was the only sure way to get rid of the problem that was Michael, for a moment the lady assassin whipped her gaze in his general direction Michael felt beads of sweat lining his temple he could almost feel the sharp edge of the dagger slit him open at the throat but the next second she turned and left the large man´s surprisingly light footsteps echoing away as well.

Heaving a large sigh Michael let himself become visible, he stood just a few steps away from the sleeping Sally in a corner of the little shed, kneeling before her he cupped his hands over the blue-black temple feeling the hardness of the skull just beneath her skin where it cracked. Pulling together whatever ember of power he could conjure and focused it on the wound willing it to reverse the damage within, a soft white-golden glow laminated the sides of his palm he made sure to contain it so as to hide it from the outside "Come on!" Michael murmured knowing the small length of time he bought was not enough their assailants would not take long to come and check the shed again he didn`t think pulling off the invisible trick was possible again not to mention the situation was already pretty bad with Sally´s wound stopping midway again could be fatal small fragments within her head had started to reattach themselves as they previously were. Sounds of footsteps came from outside and they got louder as whoever it was came nearer and nearer to the shed.

"Fuck!"

Whoever it was just outside the shed from the right Michael whispered another curse, Sally's skull had started to reattach itself further the bruise on her temple a lighter shade of black "it's a miracle she's healing faster than I anticipated" Even if he was as he was before his death healing such a deep injury would have been tricky at best yet the girl healed easily and way too fast considering the situation yet Michael couldn't think much about that, he didn't think he could take on one of them let alone both of them even more that woman worried him the most.

An ear bursting sound erupted all around from the outside, ´gunfire´ Michael resolved ´not too far by the sound of it´ the person on the outside of the shed fell with a thud he´d been shot by someone else the situation got even more complicated whoever the third party was Michael wasn´t sure which side they were on it could be just another rival to the two assassins, the man he guessed from the large thud he heard scurried to move ´Maintaining finesse becomes hard when shot especially with that kind of a body. He carried Sally over his shoulder gambling on the idea that the man and woman assassin would be more focused on the other person another gunshot resounded extremely closer this time probably from the man hiding on the other side of the wooden shed. Followed by another bursting a hole in the wall behind them Michael risked a glance the bullet hit the floor very close to where he sat just seconds ago `Screw it if we stay here they will turn us into mince meat.

He swung the flimsy door open quickly looking outside; they were in a mostly open grassy clearing the small shed stood at least fifty feet away from a larger black barn. `the other shooter is probably hiding behind it´ a figure appeared Michael´s vision above the average from a normal person´s spotted the small metallic thing in his hands A gun aimed in the general direction of the shed another shot blew through the wall behind him Michael's ears rung. the bus was nowhere in sight but he could spot the tarmac road, Sally groaned weakly on his back her weight would slow him though he decided running at top speed maybe they could get to the road `Maybe a car will come through or something.´ clasping both his arms around the back of Sally´s legs he ran, the shots had stopped meaning someone was dead the distraction he´d hoped for disappeared he didn´t care all he knew was that they needed to get away from there fast the wind picked up in his ears as he sped up towards the road the sun at his back, it would be evening soon maybe by then he could hide easier doubting they would be alive by then he focused all his power into running.

 "Not so fast." A mostly feminine voice came from behind them Michael ignored it at least until the ground beside him burst into the dirt the shock and bursting sound of the shot disrupted his rhythm he fell dropping Sally himself and rolling a few feet away.

He hadn´t fully recovered he could hear the woman jog towards him, the man couldn´t have after being shot, she appeared directly above him glaring. her hair looked out of place, lip burst and bleeding otherwise she looked fine, she held a small gun in one hand it was pointed at him `Fuck!` he cursed 'am I going to die' he thought desperately grasping for whatever power he could manage his fists started to light up the Janet noticed the light around them growing dimmer "what in the actual Fuck are you" She was pleasantly surprised a feeling she hadn't felt in a long time there was nothing special about dying you were just alive then you weren´t even at death´s door people were just people about not to be alive yet the kid it was different another emotion she hadn´t felt in a while kicked in fear of the unknown "You didn`t leave the shed did you?" she said " well whatever you are Go To Hell!" she pulled the trigger or at least she was about to before another shot from behind cleaved her face in half sputtering blood and brains all over Michael her body went down to the side like a bag of very light potatoes. Footsteps trudged through the grass then before Michael, a tall man stood directly in his sight he looked older than last time he saw him, though bruised and bleeding on the side of his lips, the side of his dark hair had started to go grey but he could place those piercing blue eyes anywhere;

Avion Lancaster.

"Sorry I am late young master." his cool base voice almost masked by the sounds of sirens coming from the distance.
