Lunar Crystals

Sol watched as Lady Zephyra lost the presence and appearance of an elder of the witch coven. The gale of wind vanished in an instant as she descended to the ground with fear and terror written all over her face.

"Good girl." The ancient vampire patted her hair gently before shifting his gaze to Instructor Ethan who didn't seem tense like the others.

"Old man, does the patriarch know you woke up from your slumber just to cause trouble?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Come on, that's no way to talk to your grandfather. " The ancient vampire said.

This piece of information left Sol shocked. If this ancient vampire is not the patriarch of the vampire family, how powerful is the actual Patriarch?

"By the way, I only came out to have a good look at the boy who managed to survive my immortal blood-shattering seal." The ancient vampire said, making Sol shudder in fear.

Did he just hear "my" immortal blood-shattering seal?

Doesn't that mean this man is the creator of the technique?

"You heard?" Ethan was taken aback by his words as well.

He didn't think a sleeping vampire would know much about the current happenings of the world.

"The Patriarch still gives the ancestors updates on everything happening." The ancient vampire shrugged his shoulders. "Even though we are at eternal rest we can still hear the words of her living." He added.

"I see…" Ethan said thoughtfully.

While he was still pondering on these words the ancient vampire took a step forward however his body phased out of existence, leaving behind a thin layer of black mist after which he appeared in front of Sol.

"Young master!" Old man Chamberlain quickly turned around in Sol's direction, only to see the ancient vampire, squatting in front of Sol while observing him keenly.

"Don't move." The ancient vampire said those words lightly but it was enough to make Old Man Chamberlain freeze midway like a statue.

Sol on the other hand found it hard to breathe. Although he could tell this man was suppressing his aura as much as possible, the residual energy was enough to make Sol forget how to breathe.

"There is nothing unique about you," he said with a thoughtful look on his face. "Yet you managed to suppress my seal, though slightly." He added.

Ding.

Sol felt a warm energy circulating through his body and why he couldn't move, he could breathe properly now and the pressure from the ancient vampires seemed to dwindle a little bit.

"W-who A-are Y-you?" Sol stuttered with great effort.

"Ooh? You can speak?" The ancient vampire was taken aback by the current development.

"I take back everything I said earlier." The ancient vampire said. "You are something."

Hearing this, even instructor Ethan was shocked. Getting a compliment from his grandfather. Seeing Sol get a compliment after just about a few minutes of meeting him, he already got a compliment.

"Unfortunately you are not qualified to know my name." the ancient vampire said "Yet." He added.

The ancient vampire turned his attention to Instructor Ethan and a loving smile appeared on his face.

"Be careful around this child." He said pointing at Sol. "He will be more troublesome than that man."

Saying this his body faded out of existence, leaving the room. Immediately the pressure was gone, Sol fell on his knees, his shirt soaked with sweat while he gasped for air.

Old Chamberlain was not spared as he needed to use the walls to support himself. His legs felt weak and shaky but he was able to keep standing with sheer strength.

"Hahahaha hahahahahaha"

Instructor Ethan, Lady Zephyra, and Old Man Chamberlain turned their attention to see Sol laughing hysterically with his eyes giving out a bright glow. They were all taken aback by this, even old man Chamberlain couldn't help but feel disturbed by Sol's eerie laughter.

'This is power! The kind of power I must have!' Sol screamed in his mind.

On their way out of the infirmary Sol and the old steward were silent all through the journey. As they emerged they noticed Sol's carriage was already there and beside the carriage was a cage with Lyra inside, just as he requested.

As Sol got closer he noticed a pouch on the cage. Picking it up he opened it to see three off-white brown-gray crystals which shared the same colors as the moon and a parchment.

"Lunar crystals?" The old steward muttered in shock. "I didn't think the academy would be so generous to the young master."

"What are these?" Sol asked.

"Cultivation resources!" The old steward exclaimed.

"They are rare crystals that absorb moonlight," he explained. "They are most effective when used under the moonlight, so save them for tonight."

Hearing this, Sol was excited. He didn't expect to reap more benefits from the stunt he pulled. Sol pulled out the parchment and read its contents.

It was basically informing him that he had been awarded the complete two points for participating in Dorothy's test. For some reason, he wasn't that excited about the points.

"Open the cage and let her into the carriage," Sol ordered as he threw away the parchment paper and got into the carriage.

His order left the old steward confused but he did as he was told and soon all three of them were seated in the moving carriage.

Throughout the journey, Lyra sat beside the old man Chamberlain quietly while looking at Sol with strange eyes. This pissed off the old Steward who believed she was rude but since Sol didn't complain he couldn't rebuke her.

"Tell me about the Ark family." Sol suddenly broke the silence.

"What do you want to know?" Chamberlain was stunned.

"The Branch family," Sol said casually. "What are they?"

Hearing this there was a short pause before he began his explanation.

"Apollo Ark was not the only child of the Ark family…" the old steward started. "The mother of the Ark family had three children for Lord Yaka. Apollo, Melina, and Dorian."

"Dorian fell in love with a human girl and her descendants were plentiful like the sand of the world. Those children are now considered the branch family of the Ark family."

"Apollo and Melina came together in a bid to keep the bloodline pure and strong. But procreating was difficult for them." Old man Chamberlain said. "Maybe it is the world trying to balance things out, knowing that too many people as powerful as Apollo will shatter the balance."

"In desperation and hopes of preventing the pure lineage of the Ark family from vanishing, Apollo and Melina performed a ritual which cost them their lives…"

"The product of that ritual was Sol Ark. You great grandfather."

"Since then the house of Ark has been able to reproduce with anyone and still keep their bloodline pure."
