Chapter 1: wasted kindness

KEZIA SIDE

"Hey Dad, why are you not going to work?" the young girl replied, as it was awkward for her Dad to be in the presence in this place, this household which you called it home.

"Your sister is sick, even Adeline." He muttered, but yet was concerned, "I made your lunch, some sandwiches, it's in the kitchen, you barely eat at school."

She looked up, smiled without any obligation, Kezia picked up the lunchbox and zipped her bag. There was no hesitation to go back again, she waved.

"See you later."

Heavy rain clattered outside, as she walked downhill, downhill? Something was so wrong, there wasn't anyone here, despite her being drenched, something was so off. Yelling distance roared out in the streets, there weren't any available buses at the station downhill, that same bird in the cage was not there, which was weird because she always see that stupid bird before going to the station. Rifle gunshots roared out in the neighbourhood, even the cries of agony.

"Shit." she cursed, running uphill, heavily and as soon Kezia arrived at home she opened the unlocked door, widening her eyes with fear, a horrifying sight to see.

She gasped, she's never seen anything so brutal, traumatising to see her whole family dead in front of her, at her house, even Sebastian, even Sammy.

"DAD, MUM, ADELE, CHELS!" She panicked, trying to find signals of consciousness within the pulse of their body. Scurrying the house, she found Chelsea lying on the piano.

"Chelsea, NO." She piggybacked her younger sister, "You're losing so much blood.", wrapping her jumper around the bruised wound, she carried her sister and ran to school to seek an emergency.

Somewhat, the strange thing is... the building was empty, ghost town and clean (somewhat clean)??

As Kezia went to the front office, the glass shattered which frightened her, nervously she called for any assistance, any hope, "Hello, Anyone?."

No response from the distant yet.

"My sister is dying, PLEASE I BEG, EVERYONE IS GONE, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!" Kezia exclaimed, out of all the future paths she has been planning, we're going through this now!?

A seven feet tall nun appeared in the front office, well I guess the nurse's home. The shadow of her figure embraced Kezia's presence.

"Poor little girl, let me take her in, you can leave." She smiled, and gestured her hands away to the door outside the front office.

"What do you mean, leave?" Kezia started to get a bit suspicious, her height was somewhat grand for her age, as well with her forehead.

Kezia grabbed a random piece of crowbar, and slashed her face, screaming.

"You little sl-", Banging a chair to knock her head out is enough, and it was impressive for a short girl like her, who could beat up a seven foot nun, kinda like The David and The Goliath.

"Kakak-" Chelsea murmured, as she reached out.

"Hey." Kezia grasped her hand, and huddled her body close to her.

"Leave me, please." Chelsea begged as her lifeless body, her fingers slipped Kezia's fingertips, and her eyes widened with surprise as she finally realised, everyone she lived with, in that same damn household, they are all dead. Outside the front office laid her fateful day, at her school, the sombre heavy rain washed the wasted kindness away from this pity girl with no faith in this world, just her existence does. Nothing, but a boring Friday morning, cold, crappy June weather like usual always stayed in this place, where there was just a system of 13 years of school, 5 years of college and the rest of it, is work till the day you die, pretty amazing right?

The flickering blinds were opened up, the tiles were cold as usual, and this poor little girl who got out of the shower, dressed up as the usual uniform, just sighed with pity.
