Chapter 48 - Kinetic Transmutation [1]

Yeah, so like, generally speaking, most upgrades would be beneficial to me in some way. Sure, there were still distinctions, and you couldn't deny that some were better than others. That's when I stumbled upon this group of five upgrades that I could get.

These upgrades were by far the most powerful ones I could get at the moment. Having the ability to manipulate elemental energies would give me a tremendous advantage in combat. Sure, I was purely basing this on the possibility of us continuing to head to that plane or whatever that thing was in the future.

Kinetic Transmutation.

With this upgrade, the user not only manipulates kinetic energy but can also transform it into other forms of energy. By touching an object, the user can convert it into thermal energy, electrical energy, or even sound energy, creating explosions of heat, electrical discharges, or devastating sound waves.

Seriously, no matter how many times I looked, this ability was just too powerful, strong enough to make me choose it without hesitation. With that in mind, I selected the ability, causing another translucent screen to appear in front of me. However, honestly, the message wasn't what I was expecting.

[Warning: The selected ability requires a maximum level of (10), therefore, it is impossible to use the upgrade card on the selected ability]

As I finished reading the message, my first reaction was to raise an eyebrow. I mean, the ability needed to be at a level for this? Plus, it clearly states "maximum level" Does that mean the maximum an ability can reach is level 10? Honestly, I wondered if it was okay for the system to simply tell me the maximum level of abilities like this.

Putting that aside, I returned again to the screen showing my stats and selected the [Kinetic Touch] ability. If I say I'm not a little fearful of spending all my remaining skill points on this ability, I'd be lying. But, as they say, no pain, no gain.

Kinetic Touch [Lv - 7] -> Kinetic Touch [Lv - 10]

As soon as the translucent screen indicating that my ability had reached level 10 appeared, another screen popped up immediately after.

Reading the message, a small smile formed on my lips as I walked towards the door. Again, I tried to use the ability upgrade card, and once again, a new translucent screen appeared before me.

[Do you want to use the upgrade card on the (Kinetic Touch) ability?]

Seriously, why was the system asking so many questions today? I was sincerely praying that there wouldn't be some kind of side effect from evolving the abilities. Anyway, mentally accepting, another screen appeared in front of me.

Kinetic Touch [Lv - 10] -> Kinetic Transmutation [Lv - 0]

After obtaining the new ability, I was curious about how exactly I should use it. Honestly, the description itself doesn't explain much. I mean, what exactly does it want me to do when it says to touch an object? Anyway, I activated [Kinetic Transmutation]. At first glance, it didn't seem much different from what I could already do before evolving it.

As this thought echoed in my mind, my gaze naturally turned to the glass of water, which was a short distance away from me, on the kitchen counter. Casually, I reached out my hand towards the glass, and with a gesture, it began to levitate, gently landing in my hand shortly after.

Well, it seems like my control has improved quite a bit compared to before. In a way, I doubt I could land something as smoothly as I can now. Anyway, I guess this is a good time to test what else I can do.

Taking a deep breath, I regain control of my ability. As I ramp up the power generation, I begin to convert it into another form. After a few seconds, the kinetic energy starts to gradually shift. I feel like I can mold it now, and with a simple thought, electricity starts mysteriously appearing around the cup.

"Okay... I gotta admit, seeing this firsthand is way cooler than I thought it would be" I muttered to myself.

Of course, that would only be for anyone watching from the outside. From my perspective, the accumulated kinetic energy seemed extremely restless. Well, I didn't really have knowledge of how this worked; it was just a fact unfolding before my eyes. Not being a scientist, I could hardly grasp the principles behind it.
