Chapter 41 The Winged Serpent

POV Max quickly word spread and everyone pulled out any form of connection to the internet some classrooms were turning on TVs to see the news, Kitty who was at the end of the table pulled out a laptop for everyone to see and their it was a live broadcast and from the view count in the corner the news was already spreading world wide.

News women: "…villages in southern Mexico have been destroyed the government has blamed these events on volcanic activity until multiple witnesses have come forward saying it was a giant flying monster like those we've seen recently in the united states." the women was standing outside a large town with many cars and people leaving as military vehicles and soldiers helped keep the traffic going. "Villages and towns in the near by area have or are in the process of evacuation but the Mexican government has yet to comment on the mysterious giant predator.

Evan: "Man this is crazy you think the Avenger or Justice league will help?" that was the question on some peoples minds but the bigger question was what could they do to help if Mexico was denying the existence of the monster.

Kitty: "what about Zilla he's been kicking every monsters butt so far why not wait for him to just take this . . . whatever it is down." I couldn't help but smirk at kitty's enthusiasm but6 then cyclops had to bring the mood down.

Scott: Kitty why would Zilla go all the way down to Mexico just to Fight some . . . whatever this thing is for no reason besides he is just an animal he was probably just defending his territory from those other monsters. Kitty and Evan looked down and Jean gave Scott a glare which I shared.

'Just an animal ooh i so hope you go evil in the future so I can-', my thought was interrupted by a *gasp* around the room and my attention was back on the news reporter as behind the mountains in the background something was in the sky and it was getting closer. "oh shit"

News women: "furthermore . . . wait what is? . . . . oh my. . ." as the creature got closer everyone started to panic as the military started to take action and prepared for for battle a battle they had no hope of winning. and then we saw it a larger bird with beautiful colors flew above the town its feathers being mostly green but other colors could be seen all over it's body as it passed over it let out a cry that caused the videos audio to cut out then cut back in as it dissipated but what the audio caught made my eyes bulge.

"They need to leave now" I said the others looked at me but the events unfolding brought their attention back to the screen were the cameraman was following the creature as it began to circle the town giving us a better view of the creature it had a long body like a serpent and on each wing was a a par of claws as it flew jets then blasted over the town towards the giant bird and unleashed their cargo of missiles. that hit their target but it did no visible damage, the creature surprisingly quickly maneuvered itself to face the jets and in one moment opened its wings wide and then brought them together then the video cut out.

"Jesus Crist!"

"My god!"

"what happened?"

"what are we supposed to do?"

"Quetzalcoatl" my voice got the X-Men out of their shock and turned towards me as I had my phone out and gave me looks of confusion so I explained, "that's its name or its taken a big inspiration from Quetzalcoatl the winged serpent Aztec god of wind and vegetation" I showed my phone to the group of pictures of a winged serpent with colorful feathers.

Kitty: "Ok like I'm seriously worried now how is anyone going to beat that thing it those missiles did nothing to it."

Jean: "And who knows how much damage it did with that attack" at that an announcement came through the entire building school was off for the rest of the day and to go home, so me and the X-Men said our goodbyes and I made my way to the front only to go to a near by empty classroom making sure the room I couldn't be seen from the door or windows.

"Alright Artenyx its time to go back home" she appeared above me and fell landing on top of ,my head "and we are defiantly going to talk about your little outing later alright" she *skred*a ok and I teleported us back to the house. were I turned on the news to see if anything had changed but was meet with nothing but gossip and politics. "Alright Tron where's my mission?"

Hmm ill pick [Battle of the Titans] not because I don't want to work with the hero's but because id rather be unknown or underestimated at this point by other rather then 'oh hay your Nightfury you helped defeat the giant bird god' and end up on some secret organizations list.

"You know what I mean just accept the mission and Artenyx this time stay until I get back" she nods her head and I pet her before I teleport again in the middle of the ocean.

POV. 3rd person

Fisherman 1: "But seriously a giant bird what next a giant snake? he said while drinking a beer"

Fisherman 2: Yeah I mean what's the world coming to first its those mutant freaks then aliens, superhero's, and now giant monsters what's next robots!"

Fisherman 3: "I'm betting time travelers" the others gave him a look as if he was crazy "what?" then the fishing lines hooked something "hey guys I got something and its a big one for sure!" he tuned towards his friends and sees them staring up at something "a guys you gonna help with this?"

Fisherman 1: "Let it go before he stops being patient" he looked confused until he tuned and saw the end of his line on the one of the spikes of Zilla who was waiting patiently and he immediately dropped the line and just as second later Zilla was back under the waves.

Fisherman 2: "I got 20 bucks he turns the bird into fried chicken".
