A Single Enchanter Against Multiple Heroes (1/3)

The sky was red; not by the setting sun but by the pollution of Gotham.

Pollution caused by the massive industries and the business giants that didn't care about the damage they were dealing to earth.

In a way, these business giants were no less than the superpowered villains running around and killing innocents. After all, they were responsible for killing millions indirectly.

"Are you truly standing against me because of a villain, Batman?"

Jasper did not hate Bruce, not by a long run. But it did irk him that the billionaire superhero never did enough.

As Batman, he caught the villains but never took care of them.

As Bruce, he never took care of these business giants hurting the planet.

"And what about you, Superman? This is not even your turf."

Batman had enough contacts that he could do that with ease, be it as Bruce or the caped crusader.

"*Sigh*"

The two heroes stood with their weapons and powers ablaze, ready to lunge at Jasper.

"You had NO right to kill him!" Superman sounded furious, his eyes red from anger along with his heat vision ready to launch at Jasper.

"Joker might have been a villain but he was a human, and killing him makes you no less of a murderer than him." Batman said, his voice resolute as he stated his view.

However, Jasper was too drained to bother with them.

He was already in a bind, he knew he had made an enemy out of the entire Justice League -knowingly, of course. But he was no less than Batman when it came to his principles.

He was not someone who forgave those that tried to steal from him, cheat him, lie to him or stand against the things that he stood for.

And that was what led to him standing against the heroes.

Was he going to regret it?

'Fuck no.'

"If you do not resist and let us take you in," Batman sighed, a bit of pain visible in his voice as he looked at the dead Joker. "We don't have to shed any unnecessary blood."

Jasper couldn't understand the reason for that pain. But then again, it didn't matter.

"If by 'taking me in', you mean imprison me…" Jasper gave a sarcastic smile, "I will have a decline."

"You are not making it any easy for us, young man." Superman was upset, "Cooperate or we might have to use force."

After his fight with Joker and seeing his place burn to a crisp, Jasper felt empty. He didn't feel anything standing against the most creative and intelligent hero, nor did he feel anything against the hero whose strength was comparable to a god.

All that he felt… was disappointment.

"That is a threat," Jasper laughed at the obviousness of Superman's statement. "But my answer remains the same. A big 'No'."

This was the last straw as it left the heroes with no choice but to proceed with force.

Jasper felt the temperature around the place rise exponentially as he saw a ray of red light making its way towards him.

It was fast, hot and more than capable of burning a hole through him -possibly even cut him in half.

And Jasper was ready for it; as with his new control over his ability, he was instantly able to enchant his speed and almost formed a counter attack.

However, he didn't have to do that as a certain voice did the job for him.

"Tcelfer"

The ray of extreme heat that shot towards him reflected back towards Superman as two familiar voices rang behind.

"Jasper!"

"Are you alright?"

Two beautiful women -one whose entire skin was of a greenish hue and the other that wore a hat bigger than her head- walked out of a portal.

Jasper's eyes went wide when he saw the two women; truth be told he was worried for them.

"Why are you here?" He asked as Ivy sprouted a vine from inside of the concrete to stop the batarang that Batman threw towards them.

Immediately upon contact, the batarang exploded which made Jasper realize that Batman was finally using his stronger weapons.

The two heroes stepped back for a second upon realizing the entrance of the two new individuals.

"Ivy?" Batman was beyond shocked to see the queen of flora standing behind Jasper. And he was especially shocked to see the woman that stood alongside her.

He didn't know who it was, but the skill that she used to reflect Superman's heat vision felt eerily similar to the skill Jasper earlier used to do the same.

Superman looked at Batman to confirm if they were supposed to attack the others, and upon seeing Batman's stance -he got the answer.

As for Jasper, he tried to understand why the two ladies came together. It was not a duo he was too excited about.

"Not too happy to see me, are you Batman?" Ivy said, but her expression soon changed as she saw Harley lying unconscious over a puddle of blood, "Harley!"

But she was not stupid, she knew who did that and why they did it… and because of that she did not immediately rush to her friend. Instead, she used one of her plants to check if Harley's heart was still beating and once she confirmed that the crazy villain was alive, she used her vines to create a sort of protective casket around Harley.

"Jasper are you alright?" Zatanna asked, horrified at the thought of Jasper being hurt in any way or form.

However, Jasper gave the mistress of magic a smile of assurance, "I am."

Zatanna was just as heartbroken as Jasper to see their hard work burnt and destroyed but she also knew that Jasper had already taken revenge; Joker's near mutilated body was proof of it.

"Please stay out of this you two," The enchanter said in a soft, comforting and assuring voice. "I will handle this."

It was not pride or a sense of bravado that made him say that; but it was something that he knew he would have to do one day.

He knew he would be facing the heroes, maybe not so soon but he was most certainly aware that it would be something that he had to do.

"But they-"

Zatanna was unable to finish her sentence as a smile from Jasper made her quiet.

"Please."

"If you keep dragging this matter," Batman scowled as he looked at Ivy and Zatanna, "Your friends will be injured as well."

Jasper wasn't given a chance to reply as he felt a certain projectile being launched at him -an arrow to be specific.

Thanks to his enchanted speed, he was quickly able to dodge the arrow.

"Batman!"

A shout drew their attention and as they looked to the far corner, they saw a few very familiar figures.

It was the heroes' support.

And heroes were amazed to see their support arrive without even their request.

"You don't have to face this alone."

Four certain people.

Nightwing.

Batgirl.

Green Arrow.

And a curtained masked woman with wings that Jasper had never previously met before but was certainly aware of who she was.

Hawkgirl.

This made Superman say again, "There is no chance you can win this. So, give up and neither you nor your friends will get hurt."

Jasper exhaled deeply before looking at the sky, the red sky polluted by villains of the society.

"So many heroes yet I stand against you alone," He said, referring to the fact that he wasn't letting the two women get involved.

But he was tired of it all; the sight of his place burning down, the hypocrisy of the heroes, his own hypocritical views but above all else -the fact that they were taking him too lightly.

"But even with all the people," He smiled, "Are you capable of facing me?"

Because he wasn't planning to lose.
