Chapter 37: Awakening of 3 Stars

We headed for the cave behind the village, when we passed the place where I cast the spell we could see that it was now in chaos. In the center, it was a wasteland, and barely the bodies of the four-star monsters remained.

Everything else was charred, and in the center a larger lump of charcoal could be seen. Oddly enough, it was still alive, but in its state it was better to have died since it looked like just a lump of coal. So I put it out of its misery and killed it.

Beside him, I could see an axe in perfect condition, and upon seeing it with my Eyes of Truth, I noticed that it was a medium arcane elemental star axe (5 stars). It was stronger than my current daggers and spear. I'm not that good with axes, but I decided to keep it, either to sell or something else. A weapon of this range is worth a lot wherever you go.

Looking around to see if there was anything useful besides the cores, nothing seemed useful. The conductivity imprinted on the spell gave it a wider damage range, so it was stronger and the repercussions were much greater than I thought.

Also, without my Will characteristic, I couldn't stay sane by chanting a spell four ranks above me. Honestly, now that I killed the beast, I felt the sense of saturation and knew I could advance in rank. So I postponed going deeper into the cave and moved away from the destroyed village.

Finding a good enough place, I decided to awaken the last characteristics I had had in my previous life, although technically only I will ascend. Lili, who is somehow part of my body, can take advantage of my ascents to awaken dark element characteristics, which helps me, as my concentration is already at the limit with only two elements.

It's already rare and difficult to awaken two characteristics. That's why I prioritized Will, which helps me make this task easier and more complete. I'm also going to try to improve healing to turn it into regeneration, but I'm not sure if I'm biting off more than I can, but I'm going to try.

With everything decided, I focused on managing the energy of the experience to make changes in my body and ascend. I had already planned which feature to awaken. Besides regeneration, which degraded, I only had 6 characteristics in my past life: three of light element and three of lightning.

Lili, on the other hand, when she merged with me in my past life, came with 3 characteristics and created one more after joining me, so when I died I had ten characteristics in total. A surprising number for my amount of elements and talent.

Even at this point in history, the most someone has awakened is 6 characteristics for one element and 7 when it comes to someone with two elements. They were people who made history. But now I surpassed them in my third star. Although it is easy, since they are characteristics that I already had and it is not difficult for me to awaken it again.

If it weren't for the fact that you can only awaken one characteristic per element during ascension, I could have more. With this ascension, I regained all my light and lightning characteristics. As for the future, it only remains to wait and find a way to awaken characteristics unknown to me.

With my accumulated experience, I am sure I can awaken more elemental traits. Even if they are not as good as the others, any trait is useful in some way.

The traits I have from my past life are part of my fighting form, so now I feel more complete than before. As for skills, they will only improve in rank when I advance to four stars, but that doesn't mean they won't improve.

Using teleportation when I was two-star compared to when I'm three-star is already a lot of difference, and what I can see with my Eyes of Truth was amplified. As for Fusion, that ability is something special, so its limits are hard to discern even for me, who have used it for some time in my previous life.

Lili told me that she would awaken the last characteristic she learned after meeting me in the previous life. I agreed, as it would be more useful than the other one. As I thought, Lili awakened the absorption trait. It may seem like a similar trait to assimilation, but their uses do not overlap and even complement each other to a frightening degree. That trait I will take full advantage of.

Honestly, I was a bit worried, since just like me, Lili has the memories of our previous life, but I didn't know if the trait could degrade or awaken a different one, like what happened to me with regeneration and healing. But all went well.
