“First of all, we think you could be an asset to Reynolds program in more ways than just showin’ your horse with us.”

Reggie raised his eyebrows and leaned forward.

Hank went on to explain his idea of Reggie showing Tango in hunter classes and thereby establishing Reynolds Quarter Horses as an all-around stable and not one that just dealt with western horses.

When Hank finished, Reggie gushed, “Oh my God! Hank, I never thought…I can’t believe you would…I…Oh, thank you, thank you. You can’t imagine what this means to me after all that I’ve been through on the hunter circuit.”

Hank laughed. “Hold your horses there, Reg; we haven’t got to the stipulatin’ part yet.”

“Yes, yes, of course,” Reggie said, taking a drink of his Coke.

Brad looked at Hank. He was still smiling.

“You’ve been makin’ some assumptions and behavin’ in ways that don’t fit the image of our program.” Hank stopped and seemed to be waiting to let his remarks sink in.
