Chapter 6

Suni obeyed Valente, sitting on his red furry back.

The red wolf growled and for some reason, Suni could perfectly understand what that growl was for. It was a message, "hold tight" and she did so.

Valente glanced sharply ahead of him and sprinted. Wind gushed through the omega causing her to close her eyes and enjoy it, smiling. She clutched his fur tightly when he sped up his running even more. A growl was heard again, it startled Suni. When she immediately translated it to, 'it fucking hurts, dumbass', she nervously smiled and loosened her grip.

"Sorry." She whispered as he rushed through the long trees. 

"You aren't exhausted?" Suni tilted her head as she petted his red fur with her soft little hand while taking her bag off with another. They had finally come to a stop, at least 50 miles away from whatever that thing was.

Valente growled loudly.

She immediately translated it to "No way! It was just a short run but my perfectly fine body hurts because you pulled my fur so tight!"

"I'm sorry." She rubbed his soft fur as the sunset shone on them making them glow a pretty golden. She admired her fur which glistened, mumbling a 'pretty'.

"How can you understand me?" Valente growled, still in his wolf form.

"I don't know but it's nice." Suni smiled, closing her eyes.

"Why everything is something we don't know?" He howled.

Suni hummed, making a sad face. There were so many questions and zero answers.

"Can I ask you a question?" She asked.

"Yeah. Shoot." He howled.

"Why are you red?" She asked softly still rubbing the wolf's cheek as he stared at her, not taking his eyes off.

"My mother had red hair. Runs in family I guess." He said suddenly shifting back to human.

Suni's eyes widened at the sudden action as her both hands were now on his cheeks, holding each side. She blushed slightly, quickly removing her hands.

"Had?" She asked in a low voice.

"Yeah, haven't seen her ever in my life. Just in an old photo."

"O-oh." She looked down then back at him again. "She must be beautiful!" She blurted out wanting to cheer up his slightly dropped expression.

Valente's lips curved into a one-sided smile. "Are you telling me that I'm handsome?" He teased her.

She reddened, "N-no- I mean yes, y-you are but I was t-trying —" She panicked and stopped herself from embarrassing further when he chuckled.

"Such a cute dumbass." He rubbed her drooped-down white ears. "Wanna see her?" He asked.

Her ears stood straight up as she nodded immediately. He smiled widely and shoved his hand into his front pocket and took out a picture.

"Here it is." He said, ruffling his hair a bit.

Suni took a look at the photo, coming closer. "Waaahhh…" She trailed off. "Your mother's so beautiful."

"She got her genes from me, of course, she is." He said saying the opposite on purpose to see her reaction.

Her eyebrows furrowed up together as she pulled her lower lip out, confused, and tried to think if it was possible.

Valente burst out laughing wanting to squish her with his hugs.

"You're a dumbass. And that's a fact." He wheezed as kept back his mother's photo back.

Suni pouted, still confused making him giggle a bit more.

"Come." He said, standing picking her bag up.

"O-oh I can carry that." She said.

"Yeah! Why the fuck do you think I will carry it?! I am just keeping my mother's photo in your bag so that in my pocket, it doesn't crumble." He explained.

She nodded. "Where are we going?" She stood up.

"There's a small town nearby as the map says. We'll sleep and eat there." He said and threw her bag at her making her stumble and fall back.

He chuckled and picked her up, making her stand again.

"Don't hold my fur tight this time." He said.

"Won't you feel heavy-"

"Dumbass, please." He dramatically put his hand out to stop her and sighed. "Your bag weighs more than you." He spoke, still a teasing smile on his lips. 

She pouted and hopped on his back.

"Ready?" He growled.

"Yes." She said and he took off in speed.

The air hit her face and she smiled feeling good. This was a whole new world for her and she loved it. These two days her whole life had changed into an adventure. She was so proud that she left that cruel place, now she didn't have to clean their dirty dishes, or listen that she isn't worthy of anything, or be slapped and hit.

But the wings, The wings, that day was still troubling her. Did some angel save me "she thought", being so confident that it wasn't her own. She was grateful that the wings erupted right on time or she would be long gone. She was grateful to Valente that he had saved her, accepted her as who she was, and not seen her as some parasite.

Suni was bought out of her thoughts by the growl made by the red Alpha indicating that they had arrived.

She admired the town. It was nice. It was the first time she had actually seen a town other than hers. Her eyes sparkled as she stared at the town before them until it was interrupted by a low howl telling her to get off.

She quickly got off and jumped slightly readjusting the bag on her shoulders.

"You seem to like it very much," Valente said as he turned back into a two-legged waking being.

Suni nodded and smiled widely making his heart skip a beat and ears turned the shade of his hair. He coughed a little looking away.

"Thank you!"

"Whatever, dumbass! Let's go and be careful." He said, sternly.

She nodded.

"Nah, I don't fucking trust you" He looked down at her and took her hand in his. "Don't you dare leave my hand!" 

"Okay," Suni replied, still a little smile on her lips.

"And if someone asked who we were, say your whatever your pack's name was and we're travelers, okay?"

"Okay. Emerald Wolf was my pack's name." She informed. He nodded.

"Can we go in now?" Suni asked excitedly.

He couldn't help but chuckle at her child-like behavior before letting out a "yes".

They walked hand in hand until Valente stopped making Suni look at him.

"What happened?" She asked, feeling more vocal than ever.

"We've got no money, dumbass. We've to work for it. Then only we can sleep and eat."

"Where do we work to get it?"

"Um let's see." He pulled her along with him searching for shops to work at.

"There! We can work there! Please! Please!" Suni requested, excited seeing the pups, playing with each other.

"That's a shelter, why would you-" Valente stopped when he watched Suni's eyes sparkling towards the pups.

He pursed his lips.

"Fine! Let's go!" He grunted. "The pay better be good."

"Thank you!" Suni beamed, looking at him.

"You're a child." He mumbled, blushing slightly. It's like her smiles are the only thing that keeps the world going. What the hell am I thinking?, "He thought", cringing at himself after.

As they got into the shelter, a woman, beta stood before them.

"Yes?" She asked.

"Can we get a job here? We need money and we can work for like 3 hours." Valente asked, keeping Suni still who was jumping slightly in

"I will ask my boss. Till then why don't you play with the pups." The woman said, smiling politely.

"Thank you!" Suni exclaimed, pulling Valente with her since they were holding hands.

Valente's eyes widened. She pulled him with such a force, that's impossible for omega to have. He wondered, what on earth was she?
