Elias looked at his cell phone and saw that Dew had canceled their date. He put his hand through his hair. "What's wrong?" Caleb asked. "I have a feeling about her. I'm not sure. It might be about this case." He said. "Well, I don't think sweetheart knows anything about anything. She spent hours talking to you and didn't get a hint you were even different." Caleb said. Elias looked at Caleb. Caleb shrugged his shoulders. "What are we doing now besides taking care of your love life?"Caleb asked. This Vampire was testing his patience. "Let's go to the Coven by here. Maybe they can help." He said. "Which one is that?" Caleb asked. " The SangreCulto. I'm sure they'll give us a room there and then we can talk about their relationship with witches in the area." He said. They left the Motel they were staying at and headed to the Sangre Culto.
They drove miles until they reached a border of trees. Elias and Caleb got out of the car. Caleb whistled. "Whoa, some entrance." He said. Their Coven entrance was a cave in the woods that led to a city of Vampires.
This one had two gigantic gargoyles cut from the same size tree. One on each side of a path that led to the Coven. Elias continued to drive them on a path until they saw a town. It was surrounded by forest and fog. They traveled into the town and it was busy. "Hey doesn't this population seem very young?" Caleb asked. Elias looked around and noticed there were young Vampires. He didn't see any older Vampires. Vampires usually didn't age so quickly. But it was strange to see a whole Coven where you did not see any Vampires that looked like they were in their thirties at least. Elias shook his head. "Something is wrong. Let's find somewhere to stay and we can talk to the Vampire Elders." He said.
They drove through the town and found a hotel. The hotel was different from any hotel they stayed in. The house was pink with a white porch and white windows. It had four floors with the second one having a white balcony. It was an interesting color for a house to have. It was the only hotel in the Coven but if there was more this one would've caught their attention right away. They went to check in and the Vampire showed up to check them in. She was tall and skinny. She looked about the age of nineteen. Elias looked at Caleb and Caleb just rolled his eyes. "How many days would you like to stay ?" She said sweetly. "Yes, we're looking to stay for more than a week." Caleb pointed to her book. "Sorry, Miss he can be rude. But yes we do need to stay for more than a week." Elias said. The Vampire smiled. "Okay, we have one week open for you and two rooms. On the fourth floor." She handed him the keys. Elias gave Caleb a key. "Now go. Get washed up and we'll go see the elders." They both went to their separate rooms. Elias went through the notes he had made about the case. They had shown up at Bludhem because they found an antique bottle that had residue from a potion. The antique bottle just so happens to be from a consignment shop there. He thought maybe the shop owner would know something but she didn't. She was unaware of matters that included Vampires and witches.
When he showed up to the consignment shop the witches were set on keeping him away from the girl. They did an incantation that kept him from staying in the store. The witches were mischievous or they knew something important. He was curious about the girl and he wasn't sure why. He grabbed his cell phone and looked at it once again. She did not contact him. It hurt him a little for some reason. But he had more pressing matters to attend to. He showered and changed his clothes. He walked down the stairs and saw Caleb flirting with the young Vampire. He shook his head and cleared his throat. "We have to get going, Caleb." He said. Caleb stood up straight from leaning on the desk and smiled at her. "Ok fine let's go." They both left the hotel to the Elder's Head Offices. When they got there they were greeted by an emo-looking Vampire. "We are here to speak to the Elders," Elias said. "We have only one Elder." said the Vampire. Elias scratched his head. "Yep. Still wanna see her?" The Vampire said. "She?" Caleb asked. "Yes, sir a She" The Vampire replied. He stamped a paper. Here you need this paper to see her. Just give it to her assistant. Elias grabbed the paper and went to the waiting room. Caleb nudged Elias as they sat down. "Hey, a "she" huh? This Coven is something."
They waited a long time until the assistant came up to them. "Elias? Caleb?" He asked. They both stood up. "My name is Felix. Follow me." They followed him to a conference room. "She'll be out," Felix said. "Thank you," Elias said. "Yeah Thanks," Caleb said. They sat at the table and after a little while a girl that looked about the age of twenty came in. "Hello, I'm Natasha. What brings you to our humble Coven?" she asked. "There was a killing of a Vampire and we believe the killer might be in Bludhem," Elias said. "What does that have to do with The SangreCulto?" She asked. "We just want to know if there have been any killings here or if you have problems with Witches." He asked. She sat up straight. "Killings, no. Witches are just mischievous in this area." She said. She looked down on the floor. "Bludhem isn't exactly welcoming of Vampires but if they find a turned Vampire without a Maker they bring them here." That explains why they're so young. Elias thought. "This Coven was human-made. So I don't think anyone hates us that much." Elias nodded his head. He thought differently though. Witches and Humans had a long history of hating Vampires. That just doesn't disappear one day.
"Tell us are there any Vampire Hunters?" Elias asked. Natasha's eyes widen. "Yes, we do. They bring the younger ones here. But the leader frightens me." She replied. "How so?" Elias asked. Natasha stared at the table. Caleb and Elias looked at each other but waited patiently. "He is a beast. I believe. He is cold. He lacks something. He lacks a soul. But he can switch it. I've seen it. His eyes go from a lovely violet to a deep black. People respect and love him." She grabbed a piece of her hair and started playing with it. Her eyes showed fear and you could feel the room get cold. "He is more bloodthirsty than the most starved Vampire. He can not hide it from me." She looked up at them with tears in her eyes. "My god." Said Caleb. Felix walked over and gave Natasha a tissue. She wiped the tears away. Elias stood up. He recalled that Dew had violet eyes. Violet was not a normal color for eyes. She had to be related to this man. He couldn't get her out of his head. She had something to do with this. It must be.
He grabbed her hand "I'm sorry Elder Natasha. You shouldn't have to go through so much" He kissed her hand softly. She stood up and dabbed her eyes. "Yes, well I mustn't upset things. They do bring Vampires in. The only killings I have heard of were of Vampires their minds have gone and only feed." She said.
"Elder Natasha, do you plan on adding more Elders?" Asked Elias. "Yes, absolutely. I have just been so busy." She said. "Well, I say this because your Coven can become stronger and bring numbers up. Not leaving you so weak to Vampire Hunters." Elias said. Natasha nodded in agreement. Caleb stood up and took Natasha's hand. "Madam you have my heart and my protection. Who dare intimidate a lovely Vampire woman such as you?" Natasha laughed. "Thank you and I will treasure it." She said. "We will be staying here for a week. But coming and going. Please be assured you can contact us. We gave our cellphone numbers to Felix." Elias said. "I certainly hope I helped." She said. "You have," Elias said and proceeded to leave the room. When they were walking down the hall Felix showed up. He handed them a piece of paper. "This has the information of the Vampire Hunter she spoke of." He scribbled something else on it and pointed to it. "That is a number to a retired Vampire Hunter. He also brings young vampires to us. He's completely unrelated to the other one." Felix said then walked away.
"So what are you thinking" Caleb asked. "I'm thinking of going to have a talk with the retired Hunter then the active one."
