Miss Him

Jenni had just entered the lobby of her apartment. She had missed her beloved son. Her long footsteps led her to the elevator that was there.

The girl opened her cellphone again and looked back at the photo that Edward had sent earlier.

Jaden's face sleeping peacefully can be seen in the photo. Her son still looks handsome every time he sleeps like that, and don't forget his calm face when he sleeps exactly the same as Daniel when he sleeps.

'I miss him.' Jenni's monologue in mind.

The elevator that took Jenni to the floor where she lived, of course, broke her daydream, which had once again fantasized about her former lover in the past.

"Hey Edward, how is my son tiring you out?" Jenni asked while embracing her best friend.

"Not bad. He seems to be an active child now," Edward said to Jenni.

Jenni chuckled at her friend's chatter. She couldn't refuse Edward's words, for it was true that Jaden was now more active than when the boy was two years old.

"And he's getting smarter, be careful if you like to trick him, he will find out gradually," Jenni said from what she felt. Not only that, but the boy can also be invited to discuss his opinion.

"Really?" Edward asked, quite impressed and worried that the diversion he had made earlier would be noticed by the overly intelligent Jaden.

Should he tell Jenni that Daniel is currently in France, even come to the gallery?

Jenni nodded her head slowly.

"You've been here long, haven't you?" Jenni asked Edward.

"I guess because there's something I want to ask you," Edward said, intending to ask Jenni how she really feels about Daniel and what she would do if she met him.

Jenni quickly said to wait a moment because she would clean herself first.

Edward, of course, agreed with Jenni's words. Besides, he had plenty of time to listen to Jenni's explanation, and hopefully, Jaden wouldn't wake up when he wanted to have a severe talk with Jenni one-on-one.

"Ah, I just remembered. Where is Axelle? I didn't see him," Jenni said to Edward, who had just realized that one of her best friends was not in front of her.

"Axelle has a need to be told by his brother, for that he goes to finish it for a while when he's done he might come here," Edward said, straightening what was there and, of course, not lying.

Jenni nodded her head at Edward's explanation. To be honest, when Edward said that Axelle was ordered by his 'brother' who was none other than his adoptive brother Michael, Jenni immediately felt guilty for her adopted brother.

She should be able to tell Michael but she can't, she is too afraid to call Michael because she knows very well that Michael is the only friend Daniel has. She doesn't want to be selfish, if she takes Michael into her position, then that means Daniel will be alone, and it will be harder for Daniel to go through everything, right?

She still knows herself, and of course, thinks about Daniel's feelings, because she can't deny that until this moment she still loves Daniel very much. Without the need for Daniel by her side, every time she saw her son sleeping, she could already see enough of Daniel's figure that could be seen from her son.

Jenni took a deep breath and tried to ask Edward about Michael.

"How is Michael? Is he all right?" Jenni asked in the end, unable to contain her feelings for the one person she thought was her last remaining family.

Edward was a little surprised to hear that question, for the last four years or so, Jenni had never asked the slightest question about it.

"Are you okay, Jen?' Edward asked Jenni first.

Jenni just nodded her head with a forced smile without being able to make the slightest sound that escaped her lips.

"Mr. Michael now has a beautiful daughter named Lily Jen," Edward said to Jenni.

"Seriously?"

She really didn't know anything about it.

Edward nodded his head in response to Jenni's question.

"I miss him, and I have done a lot of wrong to him. After all, he is part of my family just like Axelle and you are," Jenni said sincerely.

"Never mind, don't be sad, you have to clean yourself first, then we'll talk again," Edward said at last so that Jenni wouldn't dissolve her sadness.

He knew that when it came to her feelings and the guilt that Jenni had done in the past, the girl would be melancholy.

Jenni couldn't help but agree with Edward's words, which were true.

Shortly after Jenni went to the bathroom, a bell suddenly rang in front of Jenni's apartment. Edward, with all considerations, chose himself to check the apartment door.

"Ah, you, I thought you were with him for a long time. What did you bring?" Edward asked Axelle, who had just arrived with a box in his hand.

"I got it from the lobby. It seems to be for Jenni. That's why I brought it. I thought it was like that, but it turned out to be faster than I thought, and I have important information for you," Axelle said a little passionately.

Edward frowned confusedly, looking at Axelle while telling Axelle to enter the living room.

Axelle followed Edward's footsteps, with his eyes direction busy circulating it throughout the room.

"Don't worry, Jenni is cleaning herself, and Jaden was asleep about half an hour ago," Edward said, noticing Axelle's anticipation.

A small sigh could be heard from Axelle's lips.

"You know, Daniel hasn't been living in a hotel for a while, and what's surprising is that he lives in an apartment not far from here, because he said that the apartment he owns is only two blocks from the gallery building earlier," Axelle said cautiously, and half whispered to Edward.

Edward's eyes were perfectly rounded.

"Wait, isn't this apartment also only two blocks from the gallery?"

"Is it?"

Surprised Axelle, who didn't notice it at all. Oh, come on, Axelle, why isn't he as thorough as Edward?

"No, I hope your guess is wrong, Edward. You don't make me panic. I just feel like I'm being terrorized all day," said Axelle, to which Edward nodded.

"Th-"

Before Axelle could continue his sentence, Jenni's voice suddenly greeted him.

"I thought you wouldn't be here because Michael had your business ordered," Jenni said casually, unlike Axelle, who looked at Edward questioningly.

'What did Edward really say to Jenni? Why would she know it?'
