SURPRISE VISIT

“What happened?”

“You are sleeping on my hair.” Anastasia was unable to turn around and face him.

“I… I did not notice.” He unconsciously placed his pillow on her hair and made himself comfortable. He immediately lifted his pillow and placed it at a distance from hers. The awkwardness between them was increasing with every passing second.

It was Anastasia’s first time sharing a room with a boy. She could not control the knots forming in her stomach. She felt shy and embarrassed. Her face was burning up. She pulled the comforter to cover her cheeks. She felt exposed. It was suffocating. ‘How can I sleep under such circumstances.”

“Are you awake?” Sam whispered.

‘Should I pretend to be asleep?’ Anastasia pondered for a while and finally sighed. “No.” This strange feeling was once again acting up.

After a brief moment of awkward silence, Sam broke the ice, “So, what bought you to the party that night?”
