The Beginning

[USA, 2009]

[9:00AM]

A buzzing summer morning, welcoming a large flock of birds migrating for the season. The environment, hot due to the intensive heat from the sun.

A house standing out from the rest. A large mansion in the middle of Queens, USA. Home to a wealthy family, holding one of the highest net worths in the entire area.

Nothing but silence roamed about on the streets as travels of citizens commenced. However, loud noises from the mansion caught the attention of few neighbors who were yet to leave the state.

"Ahhh! I can't hold it anymore". A beautiful voice coming from no one less than the charming Nichole Ryker, wife of William Ryker, owner of the mansion and richest man in the state.

She was on her way delivering a baby as she screamed in pain and agony. At that moment, William carried her out of the house, into the car and drove her to a nearby hospital.

On the way William consoled her as the agony was too much.

"Don't worry, honey. We are almost there". These words kept Nichole going, holding the baby till they arrived at the hospital.

A tall skyscraper. The city's medical center. Although it wasn't the most prestigious, it had still made a reputation for itself as being the the third safest hospital with a 79% success rate of all deliveries.

Screams reverberated in the birth chamber as giving birth was incredibly agonizing for Nichole.

"Uhh". A last word of pain was screamed, and silence came over the birth chamber. The sudden silence sparked William as he compelled himself to take a peep.

"Don't do that sir, you could have just asked for permission". A young male staff member warned William as he abruptly dragged him out in a gentle manner.

"Ok, may I enter?" William answered him, with a warm smile on his face concealing his anxiety and anticipation. The young fellow allowed him to enter as he was Nichole's husband.

As he stepped into the chamber, a calm voice spoke with joy,

"Sir, your wife has delivered you of a bouncing baby boy. He's truly a handsome child."

William, upon hearing this, took a glance at his son and immediately sensed his potential. The good news inline with the boy's immense potential made him overjoyed. With happiness brimming, William was about to burst into tears of happiness, but knowing the people around, he kept it within him.

"Honey, let us name him Ace". The beautiful Nichole spoke with a smile on her face.

The baby, long-haired and his delicate light skin being complemented by the rays of the sun, immediately brought warmth to William's heart. Filled with happiness, he agreed while simultaneously looking at both his wife and his little son, admiring their beauty. This moment was only but a mere prologue to Ace's life story. It was a moment of only few seconds or minutes at most.

7 years has passed, and Ace had evolved into a cold-blooded, emotionless individual, respecting only his parents and giving crap to others. He was viewed as a spoilt brat by his neighbors and friends at the time. Only a few, including his parents new his worth.

William and Nichole being caring parents, gave him the love he needed despite the ramblings of others. They took care to provide him with what he needed, at the same time making desperate attempts to shape him to be a good and respected individual in the society.

Few days later into Ace's birthday, a new child was brought into the world. As beautiful as she was, possessing her mother's eyes, she replicated the moment of Ace's birth.

Her parents, once again gave her a name at first sight. Emma was the name she bore.

At ages 11 through 13, Ace started his middle school. Luckily, Ace had started his reformation and was gradually getting better in terms of personality. Unknown to Ace the state of the world around him, he went about his daily life embarking on different excursions of life.

At 15 years, Ace was transferred to a high school as a second year in Japan. Tokyo Inter-high, the name of the school he was to start attending.

"We have arrived at our destination". The pilot spoke. The Ryker family alighted the plane and made their way to a nearby hotel in the city of Tokyo.

Tokyo, a bright city with numerous skyscrapers, busy streets and thriving in technology. But this was merely a facade to the pandemonium Tokyo faced.

As Ace hopped in happiness ahead of his family in search of a hotel, he overheard people conversing. Their voices echoed,

"Ew. Did you see that creature?"

"It was irritating".

"I wish they could all die".

Ace stopped, trying to comprehend what he had heard. He turned around with the intention of questioning his parents. He ran back seeking his parents.

"Mom, dad. I heard some people talking about a creature. Could you enlighten me?". Ace said, awaiting a response from his parents.

The two parents, William and Nichole took a quick glance at him and gave him a response simultaneously. "Whatever you heard Ace, you will know when you attend the academy. When the time will be right".

Ace disappointed in their response, looked away sadly. In his heart, his urge to attend the school grew even more. His curious nature had manifested and he was not ready to turn the offer down.

He looked back at his family and urged them alongside his little sister to move to the hotel, so that the admission process would speed up and he would get the information he desired.

At that moment, he had only but one mission. To find out what and where those weird creatures were. He found it fit to listen to his parents and obtain all the information at school. He vowed to be patient till the day he would begin school. And then he would know the reason his parents had refused telling him the meaning of the creatures all this while, from the day he was born.
