Missing

The priest walked down the corridor ever so quietly, trying not to disturb the things in each of the rooms. Peering into each one, anxiously looking if everything was still there was a tiring job. At last he came to the most important room. The Crown Room. He unlocked the heavily guarded door and waited for the glint. No glint came. His worried face was clearly visible in the moonlight. Cautiously waiting for any sign, he crept to the stand. There was nothing there. He started panicking. Started fidgeting. That's when he say a pair of eyes looking at him in the corner. What was this thing doing here? How did it get in? And most importantly, where was the Crown?

He felt a sudden stab, he fell, he eyes were closed, he was on the floor, completely still. And the thief, no where to be seen.
